Photo TR: A Jiggidy Mid-America Adventure

Recommended Posts

Hey there TPR People!

I just got back from two back to back trips this past week. The first was the TPR Texas trip, while the second one took me to four more parks a bit further to the north. The Photo trip report for Texas will be posted soon, but I still need some more time to prepare for that one so I decided to do this one first. On this trip, the first park we visted was Frontier City, which is located right beside Oklahoma City. Because of its location (In that there isn't much else located within four hours of the park), it is not covered very often on TPR so I will include over 100 photos in this posting. This was also a special visit for me because I had visited the park before, though that was almost 25 years ago. So it would be really interesting to see how much has changed in that time.

Ok, you ready to head on into the park?

DSCN3935.jpg.1b402d8e9518ac9d9b019446fb91656d.jpg

Is that you Buff?

DSCN3934.jpg.c546fdd3c934589654254050b99fc016.jpg

Ok, let us head on into the park, shall we?

DSCN3932.jpg.e7bc831d74a0c3d36ef3591d150f5811.jpg

This is what the ticket booths look like.

Frontier1.jpg.ad43a31e1fe6237d91d5a2516eeef7f3.jpg

Last time I was there, I looked like this. Yes, those would be Jams that I would be wearing.

DSCN3933.jpg.95ec00454ece553429b174a20fc318a7.jpg

Yes, it has been almost 25 years since I set foot in this park.

DSCN3923.jpg.a8b41b3ca81c775c6d2aeec52e42f292.jpg

This would be the other Silver Bullet. Instead of a B&M, it would be one of those Schwarzkopf coasters.

DSCN3921.jpg.51b5a0bf94d85ec98d131dfa83173b29.jpg

Oh, there it is! Frontier City

DSCN3919.jpg.f1cee84d59adbc53921b9c19081d885f.jpg

After about a four hour drive north of Dallas, Texas. We finally made it to Oklahoma City.

DSCN3916.jpg.9697ea511e2c057e301a38ed5f5f21b3.jpg

Its pretty baren out here.

DSCN3911.jpg.d94022a9ea96c10df56f8a31e4b4fc17.jpg

Let us head into Oklahoma.

DSCN3910.jpg.0726bee64cc6a48c291ecb4bc541df2e.jpg

Well, well. I finally got my Gainesville, Texas credit.

DSCN4107.JPG.d3c888b74ae98e1165491430212c040d.JPG

More track.

DSCN4106.JPG.9d0ce353df2fa6f12d19769814addfe4.JPG

But, there was some theming in the area.

DSCN4105.JPG.85c04935493cd6798e931db7be1231a6.JPG

Yes, its a small one.

DSCN4104.JPG.8900fe1f38157abb5b9fe284cbb8f115.JPG

I went ahead and took a few pictures of the coaster area.

DSCN3938.jpg.df246656773acefb230b65a3aca856d7.jpg

They were very strict with this one. Even kids were turned away.

DSCN3937.jpg.5a74f2bb128b7cdcc7600c1cf17d5b2a.jpg

Just in case if Larry needed one for the park index.

DSCN3936.jpg.2a1c507455d9f3293e6e8d7c41b199fb.jpg

Wild Kitty would be the first of two credits that I was denied during both trips.

DSCN4037.jpg.08b278f58b4eeac4e58d74f23c20bb0f.jpg

Yeah, they are not quite the Five Bears Rug. Maybe Five Bears Rug Minus 2?

DSCN3949.jpg.59b3e484e375981ff44262eee03caeea.jpg

Ok, one final one.

DSCN4075.jpg.1e7b4f2ef5b31464d78a3e0038802504.jpg

Vekoma really got this one right.

DSCN4072.jpg.419e0a64757554065e8df6454b48ac6c.jpg

Whee!

DSCN4071.jpg.8fc084fe8689c6593dc151f5ea57066b.jpg

Here is what some of the layout looks like.

DSCN3948.jpg.e5b62ca9f8325f05b91227275c2525ca.jpg

It no longer has the really bad wobble that the older models have.

DSCN3946.jpg.98ee2e0001a964930901a66af65a9476.jpg

Vekoma really improved the design of these coasters. It delivered a very smooth ride.

DSCN3945.jpg.b876efb80dad50a73c1cc0d018d99013.jpg

See how different the seats look now? They are VERY confortable.

DSCN3944.jpg.bcea99fb6b39abd415bf52826c29e031.jpg

Steel Lasso is the newest Vekoma design for its Junior suspended coaster.

DSCN3943.jpg.d2a219e7fd793f6c28271f9880748c51.jpg

Here are the rules.

DSCN3942.jpg.913a90499e5f7a677003b9b6ac3108c9.jpg

Steel Lasso would be the newest coaster in the park.

DSCN3941.jpg.4e5d97d579df92be8fbcd9f36ac6192e.jpg

The park is on the small side, but it is pretty well themed.

DSCN3939.jpg.9037654d920593d52c9a3eed4e3f2211.jpg

Well, it is better not to dwell on such things, so let us move on.

DSCN3951.jpg.ffc7f76ee35aca4390b7348f33d215ff.jpg

Silver Bullet Midwest?

DSCN3961.jpg.17ab5f03ea152a10e257bfdff890dbef.jpg

Ok, one more till we move one.

DSCN3954.jpg.2c60b51d313997ed94dae15a314441fd.jpg

The classic blurry design.

DSCN4067.jpg.66b8f7bfc91e565b5a86ad126985c7f6.jpg

Though, for whatever reason, this was did not have quite as much intensity when compared to other Schwarzys.

DSCN4066.jpg.824d1b31d04c5d7868a7de6a46969208.jpg

Up the lift hill it goes.

DSCN3994.jpg.8cee13000ee6946722034ddebb150ddb.jpg

Yes it is one of those fangled Schwarzy coasters that I do so love.

DSCN4063.jpg.bca4f14f1c4852dd3343e51180628b5b.jpg

Does anyone have any idea what that is?

DSCN4065.jpg.696496bc9c89f127b122e873a1e62e38.jpg

Did the ride have some kind of wet section, or something, at this point?

DSCN4062.jpg.f5938056de7f1947c030b15ca0ddf28d.jpg

It eventually returns to this point, so I can at least share this with you.

DSCN4060.jpg.2f75be0f527557959dc711ebc5133d02.jpg

Wildcat is not the easiest coaster to get photos of. It really does zoom off into the woods after this point.

DSCN3976.jpg.8ba969be34201d31b06ac9841a2ac1c3.jpg

The wrath of the Wildcat would be 46mph ride through the woods.

DSCN3978.jpg.bc8051797324bfe5d2b7dbea2b37acf2.jpg

This would be a lift hill.

DSCN3972.jpg.b9596855c37d1f2bfe4a8880a8985388.jpg

This is the Wildcat's history. It proved to be a fun Junior sized wooden coaster.

DSCN3971.jpg.c90cd8eb321e6cc335290a5ab20a46b5.jpg

Two extra points for having this sign.

DSCN3969.jpg.0f7c9fb3f8ed95a349d2393e8e4e1e6d.jpg

Oh, that explains it. ;)

DSCN3968.jpg.c4ab226053569d18e540f888a2bd2c8f.jpg

Um, something does not look right.

DSCN3967.jpg.977159aa9438644e70fe9ea0133a963a.jpg

The Cyclone also has really padded seats on the train so you do not die.

DSCN3966.jpg.2f37bb2366433b603b0754731c46b1dd.jpg

You could read up on all about roller coaster history while waiting in line.

DSCN3965.jpg.543e4ac3ce6ec959b143e66f4741a8b8.jpg

Nice Kitty, please do not bite me.

DSCN3964.jpg.29ee705ca2def727fea0cac21689f9f7.jpg

Next was the Wildcat. This would be the park's wooden coaster.

DSCN3958.jpg.9ac6514d5eecc7b10058c404a1c4831a.jpg

Ok ok ok. Here is just one more for you train buffs.

DSCN4112.JPG.0782d692bfd9a308d03edbf2ff1b6660.JPG

This part in reverse was quite intense.

DSCN3928.jpg.067b975b43af6bedeea71f355bcfd099.jpg

Then you do it all over again in a reverse direction.

DSCN4111.JPG.640a7e56a12799837b0caca25d24ed62.JPG

As an early launched coaster, it has a sled that hooks onto the back of the train which pushes you over the edge.

DSCN4034.jpg.185f4290534af49c047f690ffed788d3.jpg

Our Arrow chariot awaits.

DSCN4033.jpg.30973e3fac116d85849db7c4f303b54a.jpg

After walking up just a few steps to the top, we made it.

DSCN4036.jpg.e2dc00b1c17b6179814355920de2ec17.jpg

One of them still survives here at Frontier City. Six Flags America had the other one until it was removed around 10 years ago.

DSCN4032.jpg.ef84d98fb29f1d173b919e9ed25c7534.jpg

Does anyone remember Lightning Loops from Six Flags Great Adventure?

DSCN3929.jpg.930b733400202e30bf18471abaefcad1.jpg

Diamondback would be my very first Arrow shuttle credit.

DSCN4030.jpg.a8aecd9f6f2c2597137f8f1418b235c7.jpg

The final coaster credit would be the Kings Island free Diamondback.

DSCN4009.jpg.4fd1b7eaa804b69271a830a8b7a3e48d.jpg

It continues to be abandoned.

Frontier3.jpg.716dff0b42e640493409d378538f9e5f.jpg

According to my records, it would have been my 5th credit.

Frontier2.jpg.0a058f841c22f791566c89697ebacbdc.jpg

Many moons ago it used to sit near where Steel Lasso is now. It used to be called the Orange Blossom Special.

DSCN4010.jpg.b5ffeff55336fe1993dfd135e8df3415.jpg

It is a coaster in the box. Lucky for me I actually earned the credit a very long time ago.

DSCN4041.jpg.0332efaf80da26f012b96a1042ed7f9a.jpg

Actually there is another coaster credit. But it has been closed for years.

DSCN4052.jpg.34a768835f0bab3cb8dc554de80d4d32.jpg

No? How about now?

DSCN4051.jpg.f79c02ddb77a6c9f412a934999edd76a.jpg

Does this meet my quota for rapids pictures?

DSCN4007.jpg.7201822ad1bd84c0bad5ab74be6eba79.jpg

Again, for you rapids fans.

DSCN4008.jpg.531b4ecf2c5e627a7286d1baf3fbe45b.jpg

It looked like a good one. Too bad we still had a 2 hour drive after this park, otherwise I would have ridden it.

DSCN4053.jpg.13d37f09e9b76a5eeb2cc4fbc6075a75.jpg

For you rapids fans.

DSCN4016.jpg.692a080c6b75adb6a32ba923d6fbe70e.jpg

Plus we would have probably gotten really wet.

DSCN4015.jpg.ab2301f651b70a8c08c5d5b549a7775b.jpg

There is a really early Arrow log flume here. Too bad the line would have taken an hour or more to get through.

DSCN4109.JPG.8130ec8ce0baa2877c42386ce6354686.JPG

See what I mean?

DSCN4108.JPG.1818156b9a3883b71896fd61bbef03a3.JPG

There is really a lot of nice western theming all around the park.

DSCN4098.JPG.6041afb352aa9de36214c3eda77fb241.JPG

At this park it is an inverter.

DSCN4097.JPG.38de6ddaf9ee15c68e6d4ab2f9dec741.JPG

Mind Bender is nothing like the one in Georgia.

DSCN4090.jpg.545703538e780186494ab62ce555f28e.jpg

Tornado would be the tilt-a-whirl.

DSCN4089.jpg.ddb237ce46524e89b43909f9bda1a7fc.jpg

There were quite a few flat rides all over the park.

DSCN4029.jpg.663686e33860328d569243b22e45e733.jpg

Random Buffalo!

DSCN4027.jpg.b7d92cace046ddc69d28f8e644f61974.jpg

What I really liked was that when you shoot a target, it often revealed another set of hidden targets.

DSCN4023.jpg.3f099a6e72082ad2df9f1c5ff1c5eba8.jpg

Andrew looks ready to go shoot stuff.

DSCN4021.jpg.4da9ca25d01ce169740134c596d39b4a.jpg

For me, the real surprise would be the Sally Shooting Dark Ride, Quick Draw.

DSCN4020.jpg.5103341e2499a0a7e3ae875972385fbc.jpg

Ok, let us check out some other things in the park

DSCN4011.jpg.dd584b1a38a4c81ede95253531260333.jpg

This would be this year's schedule.

DSCN4049.jpg.e71b1c96334d306e5bfa07cf80d3ab4c.jpg

This would be the concert hall/building.

DSCN4046.jpg.5b0861fe634040f7c2c7635cbf7a5de8.jpg

One final Hangman photo.

DSCN4045.jpg.1049329ec3ef08ff00480cac6efab8b7.jpg

However the launch was very sudden and intense. Unlike the normal S&S towers, there was no warning on this one.

DSCN4043.jpg.efa6ad85150cb1c03898ccc229455332.jpg

After it launch sequence it brings you back here where it does some very controled decent back to the bottom.

DSCN4013.jpg.6046411a994304f7c7ad2971f9bf4ee6.jpg

It sits here waiting for its next victims.

DSCN4012.jpg.dd7c9fae35b99f29293f1aa9ddf0c1f0.jpg

Hangman proved to be a very messed up launch/drop tower.

DSCN3989.jpg.498166b8759523976dcba39b6933370f.jpg

Its kind of like Soarin' Over Steel Lasso.

DSCN3987.jpg.30aa81596206a2df025f986f78e2618d.jpg

You really do get a nice view of the park.

DSCN3980.jpg.acc7b6404d92eac09e2f2cb071b137e2.jpg

It was also placed on top of a hill, which was the highest point of the park.

DSCN3956.jpg.be7aa4933bb3278d9ccc9d90cd2d1695.jpg

This is just a reminder to help you remember where we were.

DSCN3955.jpg.0293ff5967fa7b84fe7e7007001d2864.jpg

Would you like to see the park from a better view?

DSCN4059.jpg.1e886d13b6a40871a5d73916305838d4.jpg

I am not sure if I would be brave enough to ride one of these. I was kind of happy that it had a really long line.

DSCN4061.jpg.964916a17d57d6589a4499daaf9768b9.jpg

They have one of these, and no it is not an upcharge.

DSCN4057.jpg.df280587a7f625171c3a26b9baf5bd89.jpg

Random barn.

Great Report! I didn't even know this place existed.

I usually have to go to OKC once a year on business so you can just guess where I'm going to make a pit stop on my next visit...

Nice PTR. This is actually my home park, but I haven't been in over 2 years. Looks like the place has really cleaned up nicely, it was a pit the last time I visited. The new owners have really cleaned it up, and the two new rides are very good quality for the park.

I haven't seen many pics of this park, but I can definitely tell that it has cleaned up. Glad to see Diamondback got a new coat of paint and another Arrow loop in good condition like Elitch's.

Also, Pheonix.

Enjoyable trip report.

That drop tower was pretty strange.

The launch up was unpredictable, as well as quite jarring. And yet the downward launch was tame as can be.

Too bad they were only running like 3 boats on the log flume. We started waiting in line, only to quickly figure out that the short line was going to take forever.

Ok then, you guys ready for Silver Dollar City?

In case if you did not know, Silver Dollar City is located right next to Branson, Missouri. Its very similiar to Dollywood with a few exceptions. SDC is a bit more compact when compared to Dollywood, as well as its move covered in trees. Trees are everywhere which means a lot more shade in the park. Its a bit easier to get around in SDC as well with its multiple paths across the entire span of the park. The roller coaster collection is simply awesome. I would have to say that, overall, they do top Dollywood's collection. Plus they get bonus points for having the Marvel Cave as an additional attraction. I think Dollywood does have a slightly better selection of food as well as shows. Basically it comes down to this , if you really love Dollywood (Which I do), you will love Silver Dollar City.

You ready for more photos?

Good to know.

It also includes a lot of theming which is historically accurate to the region.

DSCN4416.JPG.2d2968ec8d9c6d0669219e35c0904c7e.JPG

There is all kinds of theming in the queue line as well as the station.

DSCN4415.JPG.9722302a217a195bc651b4cf6f269256.JPG

Good to know.

DSCN4417.JPG.a3854e563109a8f5a0a7e4a0f43989db.JPG

Here are the rules.

DSCN4146.jpg.dcc1a6468d0205987fbd56e51f0b1a42.jpg

OK enough of this, let us go ride a coaster.

DSCN4144.jpg.192fbbfcf2004af6b5a02ac97c81d7ea.jpg

If you do go inside, you must be quiet.

DSCN4143.jpg.9a021c8882f95cb35a616668d2dcc6b5.jpg

They do have a church here, just like Dollywood.

DSCN4140.jpg.5c66b4ef072011d65788246c9f8167bb.jpg

Let us head into the park.

DSCN4139.jpg.141cb10338ae6f8e4f98ec382e366e56.jpg

The park map comes in the form of a newspaper.

DSCN4138.jpg.193921bfb14be237acaee92733fdf604.jpg

Here is some more information about it.

DSCN4137.jpg.30cdae8e6d4ba1bd41c7b1777fca7777.jpg

The water clock looks pretty interesting.

DSCN4136.jpg.c7d3df0b6507208a8d36ea03777ad685.jpg

So just in case you want to get hitched and to ride coasters.

DSCN4135.jpg.398ea185b04ff5dccc7c47ed065db89b.jpg

They do have a wedding chapel at SDC.

DSCN4134.jpg.7468bfcf7b26906ba1dcee70e7ed8974.jpg

Wow, I finally made it!

DSCN4132.jpg.3821e77f029b77b3e9b777718c66f69a.jpg

Let us take a short tram ride to the gate.

DSCN4131.jpg.a932e105c70835b8bab19e2202e60744.jpg

From the parking lot you can see Wildfire on top of the mountain.

DSCN4128.jpg.43ecbd5fb6677bff0682b3f383661a9d.jpg

You see, he is pointing us in the right direction.

DSCN4126.jpg.9edbde078b23305de97aafbd3592c1af.jpg

It sure looks like we are in the right place.

DSCN4125.jpg.83771ee76404f7955f72eb851b4d7e67.jpg

The road of no return.

It does look a bit different than Oklahoma.

I found Powder Keg to instantly leap into my top twenty. The airtime in the back row was pretty amazing.

Here are a few more Powder Keg photos.

DSCN4165.jpg.d9b149bbf1ecda38a941c72f9be4f1df.jpg

Ok, I think you are now probably sick of Powder Keg. Let us move on.

DSCN4166.jpg.f5ca286f9c68d77a0a4ddd97fbf3c6ba.jpg

DSCN4161.jpg.12eb9c3abc9b8b8c78c42ca7a09ec5d5.jpg

As you can see, the area around the coaster is themed really well.

DSCN4160.jpg.afe05fe15ee303e51591715d2e2c54a1.jpg

Powder Keg doing its thing.

DSCN4426.JPG.0805ef21f2e51616b14097a82e5c3db7.JPG

Before Powder Keg, this area used to be a part of the old ride, Buzzsaw Falls. This is one of the old cars/boats.

DSCN4158.jpg.8a407fa9c71a7ebf3904f4a2074829ff.jpg

This is here, along with a brake in the station, to make sure there are no rollbacks.

Yeah, PK is hands-down the crown SDC ride, even with a massive B&M next door. I mean, 5 years later, everyone is still flocking to it. It's probably the best family ride in existence.

I'm still in disbelief that no other family launched coasters from S&S have been built. There's no major mech. issues with it as far as I can see, aside from the annoying sensors that have to be individually wiped off after even the slightest precipitation.

Great TR Erik. These are a few parks that are very difficult to get to, and often get overlooked. I am hoping to get to them both one day. Perhaps on a trip such as this one. I look farward to the rest of your pictures.

Great set of TRs so far!

For you rapids fans.

And this made them that much better. Many thanks for those shots and they'll be added to my screen saver slide show shortly.

Also looking forward to the next round my friend.

Silver Dollar City (Part 2)

DSCN4216.jpg.beb5f97129d308f32216a470e57b0390.jpg

See what I mean?

DSCN4215.jpg.11d4006acfd0c9c9ce29c666db480299.jpg

But you do get really wet.

DSCN4214.jpg.2a93e0ab3e7cdb01605733982f5ae3bc.jpg

We found the log flume to be fun. Though there is only one drop.

DSCN4213.jpg.a1d1e8df326f0545b21882ea0b788d00.jpg

Good to know.

DSCN4182.jpg.e485d135dcf08433439509c02f15953e.jpg

Watch out for the deep dark scary tunnel.

DSCN4207.jpg.275b504714640003ae4c307abbf7aa16.jpg

Ready to get wet?

DSCN4206.jpg.d1b20120e87417f1ad6b86aec0f7bed7.jpg

This would be its theme.

DSCN4219.jpg.c87a01aaf13ba7a5f7ab84f047d71588.jpg

Ok, let us check out the log flume.

DSCN4204.jpg.d25326007c7d929e61739629b7596f4b.jpg

We checked out the gift shop for a little while.

DSCN4203.jpg.2ea12e29e7e9f1d179fc65873f50f177.jpg

Ride stats.

DSCN4199.jpg.f7787f51a145c83ea5190e8f7197f811.jpg

The coaster is powered by waterwheel. Honestly!

DSCN4193.jpg.9cb395293ea7ac8185a327dec2723bcb.jpg

You can buy photos as well as onride videos here.

DSCN4200.jpg.26ff22dbb8e4c01967da839f61a4c9d8.jpg

You must be 52 inches in order to ride this ride.

DSCN4197.jpg.06ab69e14dadc207f9d8bf7664690129.jpg

Check out that view.

DSCN4195.jpg.a70e4c7dd2dc6f9f90f48472a6063bb7.jpg

I think we rode it 4 or 5 times. The ride was a walk-on all day.

DSCN4194.jpg.9ed59344ece68017aefe0cdd0b0f6469.jpg

While it is a sitdown B&M, your feet really do not touch the coaster much.

DSCN4192.jpg.ac692ae9793a5c28516c1b5788f6f5dd.jpg

Cobra roll madness!

DSCN4191.jpg.fb342ee0e094af1f0f6366e3360b6ae9.jpg

While the coaster is on the short side, there isn't a dead section on the ride. Its really good.

DSCN4189.jpg.f38647fe50dce33deed93eee3ede180c.jpg

Up the lift hill we go!

DSCN4411.JPG.c6b5aad4a8888b9456b04ee24ca82d78.JPG

Dispatch!

DSCN4188.jpg.d76d4db589d61adb16eac2787f347bee.jpg

Everytime a train is dispatched, Wildfire gets cooled off by mist.

DSCN4187.jpg.3130161ec4c15eb6e7c388eed22be5d3.jpg

The station does have quite a bit of theming.

DSCN4186.jpg.20ad7eacd3fa11f8c90e60eeee9df2fb.jpg

The ride's rules.

DSCN4185.jpg.7d41dbb24e9d817ef19231055d89c0ba.jpg

Wildfire's first drop is really great. One of B&M's best in my opinion.

DSCN4184.jpg.8735d65fefd44422c8cc3832b213237d.jpg

Again, the theming at SDC is really top notch.

DSCN4183.jpg.4660ee63a00594cc129b4e036f28e11c.jpg

This is what the ride's sign looks like.

DSCN4181.jpg.a5a4016ff8ffb9e2dc4d7aa3b5037b78.jpg

Next was the B&M sitdown coaster.

DSCN4180.jpg.232a1314dc86a8ce165fb18fde673768.jpg

One last photo of the train.

DSCN4179.jpg.8cd095a16819cff04bc3682739ef1862.jpg

I happen to like rule #5

DSCN4177.jpg.77c8af90bc2976b2b518a7513d117901.jpg

You get attacked by many of these guys while on the ride.

DSCN4174.jpg.1e2bf7852794e92aec4375de7ada34f9.jpg

The ride operator counts how many people are in each train and writes that number on this chalkboard.

DSCN4173.jpg.b6c903107bcf9b395084a0bd4e98cb8b.jpg

Loading area!

DSCN4172.jpg.f3c9691d4b69272f512e205b26fd612e.jpg

The same goes for this.

DSCN4171.jpg.6e090e2b14d806014e0c81164ed99352.jpg

This can be found in loading area on the ride.

DSCN4170.jpg.f780a3a8a0ca983ce6985f25a978526c.jpg

While both rides are similiar, they do have different layouts as well as theming.

DSCN4168.jpg.5ed241cf04e07c6853361efe94c8e1c9.jpg

Dollywood has Blazing Fury, SDC has Fire in the Hole.

Silver Dollar City (Part 3)

DSCN4318.JPG.43fbc2a744d32d2a95ffce5f56c8bb42.JPG

This guy looks really happy, for some reason.

DSCN4317.JPG.d6e7fe494158f1bbe9454f44247d4089.JPG

Each target is worth 100 points. Its actually pretty easy to score over 100,000 points. Though you get really tired by the end of the ride.

DSCN4315.JPG.f90c236748b4444475eb1406016068a8.JPG

There are many, many, many, targets to shoot.

DSCN4314.JPG.2b7ceac99d0e358302b975ae9d8e57d4.JPG

As you can see, there are a lot of boats connected to each other.

DSCN4313.JPG.bbc230461fe7d6e58907f2b39fb3d515.JPG

Do I really look like a prisoner?

DSCN4312.JPG.d58deac9a26909da105af3436383444b.JPG

Incoming!

DSCN4311.JPG.a9112089661e12b0e69180762d07658b.JPG

This would be the weapon of choice.

DSCN4309.JPG.301606cc972f145562c7a088aa571736.JPG

How many shooting boat rides have you ridden?

DSCN4307.JPG.d922700af54dc5d448756c5fdfbadeb4.JPG

Noted!

DSCN4306.JPG.0f90457ddffb6bafcab2f64b20113372.JPG

It used to be just a dark ride, but they turned it into a shooting dark ride awhile back.

DSCN4251.jpg.41fc4645a2b1f3a197f3004f5f70efe4.jpg

Just in case if it is needed for the park index.

DSCN4250.jpg.8c05e5d37b50f576ef657df760b2634a.jpg

SDC still has its other dark ride, The Flooded Mine.

DSCN4249.jpg.ebd400c08ee804bdca617e1b454e4a40.jpg

Again, the park has a lot of random theming.

DSCN4247.jpg.09f6869d32228a70fe0733749aa76d56.jpg

Lunch time!!!

DSCN4246.jpg.74c428cf613c212c3c054f5af4d8cda3.jpg

How was your 48mph ride on Thunderation? Other than the lift near the end of the ride, it is quite relentless.

DSCN4237.jpg.38113bedebe729bdf326b138c253cf9d.jpg

This is really a good idea. I think that this is the most intense mine train I have ever ridden. Seriously, its quite insane.

DSCN4244.jpg.80f84762e46aa76e86fa98dbd3675a10.jpg

Well, how many mine trains have you ridden with backwards seats?

DSCN4234.jpg.3ba6d32bd0c151da7115c6bd1af3a395.jpg

Looks like a normal mine train, right?

DSCN4233.jpg.c313fa4557edc0635c573f5d6ddc3e28.jpg

Into the station we go!

DSCN4230.jpg.cf132b347e15d1b9e23e1d18898b7073.jpg

Yet again, the rules of the ride.

DSCN4229.jpg.a09ea73942bd9a0704b9da5ad081d3bc.jpg

This would be another name for kick-butt mine train.

DSCN4226.jpg.84b3c7a7990816138d65ca91ee4bb21f.jpg

Awww....Poor Fleegle, Bingo, and Snorky.

DSCN4225.jpg.b2ad63848ab61dd37e259adedb187435.jpg

No park is complete without a hill of doom. Though this one isn't too bad.

DSCN4222.jpg.b72772e91e0f4b2b1931b49886cc68f9.jpg

Santa.

DSCN4228.jpg.aa6ba320606a2b00e9c4cd80fb4a6f6e.jpg

Blacksmith.

DSCN4220.jpg.366e3956f1d5e8e891738f28a706523a.jpg

There are also many craft stores in the park.

DSCN4218.jpg.7125a9756212bf2f5fe75dea43e917ca.jpg

Really?

DSCN4217.jpg.0a2fdb5df4465a522bb898d1c090dd76.jpg

Throughout the entire park, there are tons of little bits of cool stuff like this.

Silver Dollar City (Part 4)

This was a sad reminder of the closing of Celebration City last season. :(

DSCN4301.JPG.5a7fc53172f0ef3658f909337187959d.JPG

Noted!

DSCN4300.JPG.9d54dcef7b18debd70e14b25ad438f04.JPG

This maybe would be the oldest ride in the park.

Are you ready to leave the cave?

DSCN4296.JPG.ee4ae00d3755704afb146bfeb4a2504d.JPG

Oh cool. The cave actually has a ride!

DSCN4294.JPG.ec19f86a8f19e2ba77957f50a99f12d3.JPG

Lucky for us, we do not have to walk our way out of the cave.

DSCN4293.JPG.9cb7fb6323f4074d43663506c0ef3fae.JPG

Gulp!

DSCN4292.jpg.663bc80df29ace446b12dcbcf432b29e.jpg

Many years in the making.

DSCN4291.jpg.b08e1c5e4aea76d907f284fec513d9a3.jpg

Seriously, the cave is a very cool way too spend an hour at a theme park. No pun intended.

DSCN4290.jpg.b0c0162be13650d1a854103acd95552d.jpg

This sounds like a great idea for a TPR ERT event. Make sure you sign up next year.

DSCN4289.jpg.7e3d62c159fb80d971659b87269ea450.jpg

This would be the cave waterfall.

DSCN4286.jpg.e2b64df1fee4ff671c055a46f02083d1.jpg

They used to mine the cave a long time ago.

DSCN4285.jpg.9fc98ebdfeb0b9cac38018f47e79b2c9.jpg

More stairs and walkways.

DSCN4284.jpg.10418a5505782d1f73d72da788b108c3.jpg

Make sure you follow the rules.

DSCN4280.jpg.1d58e2c0b26668c7be7273671dd673f5.jpg

Lots of cool things to see in the cave. Plus it is a great way to cool off.

DSCN4279.jpg.d2c246ffd75e0258edf2e78edb25ea4b.jpg

We made it to the bottom.

DSCN4277.jpg.8854b39882999aa268cb6dde0d6e4495.jpg

Are we there yet?

DSCN4275.jpg.ce8d556121bec99337cdaeb548ec0fb5.jpg

The first of about 2 million stairs begins. Actually there are only about 750 the entire tour.

DSCN4272.jpg.aef9f4e73b27d93a94ee98b804de0a9d.jpg

This is basically the point of no return.

DSCN4270.jpg.113a38a70d3f3b13b7f0bce595c5e18b.jpg

Just follow Cameron, he knows the way.

DSCN4269.jpg.ee46ea4a83b3cbd4bb64d07df30c05d0.jpg

Is that a hole in the ground I see?

DSCN4268.jpg.ac5894524fb151b8bf40e7d625da733d.jpg

The cave was an attraction way before SDC was built.

DSCN4267.jpg.86789ba0af0df45f9d6f3a6d89b04a25.jpg

Our fearless leader has a few short rules as well as warnings to tell us before we start.

DSCN4265.jpg.f068d1868f78e62ea204b50c0a125b47.jpg

We have started, try to keep up.

Before you even start the tour, you must first pass this test.

DSCN4141.jpg.e7b77c75fa62f32845e4c1670142535c.jpg

You should allow yourself about and hour and 15 minutes for the experience. Each group has a limit of 60 people at a time.

DSCN4142.jpg.0be287ba445406ec8f5c03f9c5b36010.jpg

You find the entrance in the main gift shop in the front of the park.

DSCN4256.jpg.afe27cc058b07e792ad9383c09703c79.jpg

What should we do after lunch? Let us go explore a cave for an hour.
