Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW BGE) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^OK, I'm using a broader definition of "sit-down" here, which includes diving, floorless, and hypers (or whatever B&M calls their 200-foot-plus coasters). But I'm not here to wage a war of definitions.

Thank you for clarifying your statement, as originally it sounded like you were saying they'd built only five inverted and sit-down coasters.

Yes, i was referring to their "Sit-Down" model coasters.

I am dissapointed it is not an Intamin like Cheetah hunt was...the concept art for this ride does not look nearly as thilling nor as interesting...I doubt it will go as fast nor recieve the same amout of airtime as Cheetah Hunt but then we really dont know all THAAT much about it...yet.... A multilaunched coaster does fit the layout of the BBW...but when they announced the showbuilding I imagined something of a cross between a rockin roller coaster and then a cheetah hunt when the coaster leaves the building. To me an awsome, ultimate display of airtime would be for it to launch you out and instred of up, do the banked drop over the river...you get get awsome airtime...more than any other coaster ever potentially...without being to intense...the showbuilding concept art felt like a lame wild mouse inside the building and a mild junior coaster when it leaves...maybe on par with...Pony Express? Yea, I went there:)

Seriously though, unless it is WAAAYYYY better than their concept art I will be dissapointed...the park deserved better than this. Apart from Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot, BGW seems to keep getting the short end of the stick as with Drachen Fire and now this...Im not saying it will be a Drachen Fire but BGW ususally opens their version of a BGTB coatser but bigger and better...this does not look like it will be either.

As for the old Drachen Fire spot...although a flying coatser would be cool...I have thought that a GCI or Intamin Woodie would be better suited as the station and manitinense houses would work perfectly! They could use Drachen Fire's layout as far as station and Trasnfer Track is concerned and its old lift hill direction and then it ccould turn into a twister woodie...like a larger version of Balder or Roar if it were GCI. I may go to College in DC and if I do, I will be visiting BGW a lot more and I hope that this ride turns out better than I think and that they get something awsome in Drachen Fire's old spot before 2016:)

^Hmmmm......never saw those before, considering I was the one that brought them to this forum from BGWFans who knows how many months ago. If BGW hadn't asked Robb to remove them, I'd link you to the post. But, that being said........

How about you wait till 1. it's announced 2. it's built 3. it's open and 4. you ride it before saying how disappointed you are?

good Lord! I have no beef with you! What do you think this site is? Where we bow down and worship the management and design teams of this park? Of course not, I'm being crititcal why? Because I want the BEST for this park. Why are you going apecrap on me like this? Im not being disrespectful or decietful. Im trying to convery a point and that is I am dissapointed from WHAT I HAVE seen. I said that I had not seen it all or had been on it, OBVIOUSLY. But I feel I know enough about it to say somethign about it and I did...I gave my thoughts... So please be reasonable, im not here to troll and neither should you.

I'm simply saying that being disappointed in a ride because of leaked concept art is pretty silly.

Nobody would think that Wooden Warrior would be some balls to the wall crazy coaster because it's only 35 feet tall, but it was probably the most universally praised coaster of the Northeast trip besides Boulder Dash. Hell, more people had negative things to say about Bizarro than they did about a 35-foot family wooden coaster. Don't judge a book by it's cover, it's a pretty ignorant way to go through life.

Good lord, I have not yet judged the ride, I have judged WHAT I HAVE SEEN. I made that clear from my first post. But, I have yet to be surprised by something I have looked at and gotten an idea of what to expect. Why are you people so aggressive with this. I said I was disapointed with what I saw, and explained why. I never said anything along the line sof YOU ARE WRONG or anything childish along those lines. I said something contrary to what you believe and you get offensive and defensive I guess, acting as though I insulted your mother or something. Instead of explaining why I could be wrong, explain why I am wrong. I want to be wrong believe me, but I doubt that I will be. What have you seen in that leaked concept and blueprints that this will be an amzing coatser that is Busch quality?

^I'm actually not getting defensive at all. It doesn't matter what ride it is or where it's built, wait till you ride it before judging it. People were inexplicably disappointed with 305's layout, yet just about everyone loves it. People were all jacked up for Thirteen at Alton Towers, and it turns out the ride apparently isn't that great.

I haven't formulated an opinion at all yet for Verbolten, simply because *gasp* nothing has been officially released. Concept art is EXTREMELY vague, and if you look back through the years, coasters often times end up being quite different than what the concept artist had imagined. What I've seen so far is exactly what I would expect out of Busch as far as theming goes (as long as the concept art is somewhat accurate). As far as the ride is concerned, we don't know for sure what happens in the building, and we won't know perhaps until people start riding it. Because if rumors are accurate, a lot of wicked stuff is going to be happening in the building (much like the Mummy coasters, which don't have exciting layouts until you put them in the dark with crazy special effects).

I bet I'll have a completely informed and accurate opinion of my own sometime next year after I ride it, though. Funny how that works.

your being kinda a d***. I was giving an opinion of what I saw...im not judging the final product. How many times must I say that? But I still have never been surprised. And the I305 thing is silly, everyone I have ever spoken with knew it was going to be awsome, it is the tallest drop into a curve ever which was really amazing...it is awsome and we all knew it. 13 was garbage apart from the one surprise but we all knew it was coming. Honestly, IDK how people are surprised with these things. What you see is almost allways what you get with thrill rides...unless we are talking about roughness or something but that is also usually apparent as you know who is making it:)

^Of course I'm being a d***, because complaining about concept art is idiotic. And do some research on this very forum, people were bitching about 305's layout and restraints from the day it was announced. Sure, there were people that were excited, but there were most definitely complainers.

I'm really not going to continue this, teenagers on TPR have thicker skulls than Cro-Magnons, and apparently similar brain function, as well.

sure, at least they dont accept mediocrity. Where are your standards? We can speculate... which is what a lot of this is. People on this site can bitch about all the small stuff too, im not critising that..many of us are total coaster snobs or coaster whores when it comes to this stuff...then there are some of us in the middle...though i am probobly leaning towards the snobby side, it is clear where you are. Im sure you bitch about stuff to, at least I explain the why. Restraints are one thing but the appearance and perfromance are another. This project has been hyped and then when we see the leaked designs, we get a good idea of what we will get...dont inflate it with what isnt there. What we will most likely get is right in front of you. If im wrong I will admit and and dont forget, I hope I will be.

Im sure there will be some people that like this...I just dont as of now. My opinion of the ride may get better as I see more but I am not intrigued as I have been with past projects like Griffon and Drachen Fire. I assume you believe me to be a teenager due to how I disregard spell check and the mannor of which I say things...well all I can say concerning how we are presenting ourselves for you is that you may want a different prof pic...unless that isnt actually you of course:)

frankly I really dont care...I didnt accept what he wrote any more than what I wrote. My points were as valid as yours and my remark at the end was slightly cruel but we was self-admittedly being a d***. Thus being the thick skulled teenage that I am, I responed accordingly:) We are all allowed to bitch, but he made it personal.

What do you people have against criticism? Are we supposed to accept everyhting we see with warm enthusiasm? If I had said "disapointing" and that was it, he would not have cared and neither did you but I simply explained why. To this, he went crazy. I do not have anything against either of you and if what I said offended either of you, I am sorry. But seriously, everyone bitches on this site and yes, i have read the forumns. But suddenly what I want to bitch about is not okay? Are you serious?

You guys do realize its a fricken roller coaster right? One that's not even formally announced yet. Besides the point, voicing ones concerns about what has been shown, shouldn't be a bash fest. Hell, I thought that Cheetah hunt looked boring when the "concept art" came out. Still do. Saw the POV. Still looks boring. That's MY opinion, have I ridden it? No. Can I assume that from being on other roller coasters it looks dull in comparison? Yes. Everyone has an opinion about everything, hence why there's different types of food, music, and yes ROLLER COASTERS. There's tall ones, fast ones, wood, steel, looping. THERE'S tons of different ride experiences. By nature some people find different attractions more exciting, scary, fun. Or slow, terrible, and boring. Discussing one's concerns shouldn't be grounds for BASHING and attacking someone. At the end of the day, its a damn roller coaster.

Everybody in this thread needs to cool off. Let's not have this discussion devolve into some idiotic flame way over some concept art. RocketJet94, you stated your opinion. Skycoastin Steve disagreed. Let it go at that.

And Jet, Steve hardly went "aprecrap" or "crazy" in his initial response to you.

Actually, you better start using the spell check if you want to continue to post on this site. Your misspelling and poor grammar will get you banned, that is if your aggressive/flame posts doesn't first.

Pleae review the following two rules of the site's TOS before you continue posting on here:

2. Have fun! That's the most important rule. Friendly debates are acceptable, but flame wars are NOT! Personal attacks and "flame bait" will not be tolerated, will be deleted, and could lead to suspension or your Theme Park Review membership being banned.

9. Spelling and Grammar - bad spelling and grammar will NOT be tolerated! Theme Park Review's forum includes a spell checker and there is a great one available with Google's Toolbar. If we have to edit too many of your posts, you may be suspended from the forum. Text Message shorthand or "l77t" speak is not allowed. A typo here and there is acceptable, but illegible posts are not.

Remember, this is a site about theme parks. Theme parks are fun. Take a deep breath and have fun.

I once went aprecrap. It was kinda a let down. For me and er'body else involved. I just don't have the gumption for it any more. Does that make me old?

Yes, that seems to be the public's opinion.

I kind of like what Busch Gardens Williamsburg is doing. I would rather them make something unique and different than a "me too" Cheetah Hunt.

I'll say this about the new coaster... while I never complain about a coaster before riding it I think this coaster will be judged very harshly because of what it's replacing. People tend to overrate coasters (and everything else) once they're not around anymore COUGH BIG DIPPER. I try very hard not to do this but Big Bad Wolf WAS a world class coaster and was definitely in my top 10. It was definitely my favorite coaster at BGW (Don't kill me but Apollo did nothing for me and I went before Griffon was built).

I probably rated this coaster higher than a lot of people but I think it's safe to say that almost everyone really enjoyed this ride. Fair or unfair... everyone is going to compare this coaster to Big Bad Wolf and it's going to be ridden and discussed VERY critically.
