P. 467: Loch Ness Monster Update Tour

Recommended Posts

I saw the recent pictures of the completed circuit. It looks very nice. I was hoping for more of a speed hill after the second Immelman as well as a cool helix of death after the water splash.

No big. This is my second most anticipated coaster of 07'.

It looks awesome! Can't wait to get to BGE.

Those pictures are really great! Thanks BG Escape for posting those... now I'm beginning to think late spring will be sooner than we think (at least I hope so).

Well..They still have to complete the water splash, main station, install the trains, and break the trains in. Im sure they have some other stuff to do too so im sure it will open ontime

I'm sure with only 23 days until guests enter the park again they'll mostly be working on pathways/buildings closest to the pre-existing Aquitaine so they can probably put the fence back up and continue working while the park operates regularly.

According to the first construction tour there is supposed to be a gift shop built where the Le Mans Raceway queue was similar in size to Der Marketplatz im Oktoberfest Deutschland.

They have a giftshop for every single coaster there

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got back from BGE's passholder preview where I

1. Froze my butt off (there were actually some very brief snow flurries today), and

2. Got a closer look at Griffon.

In sum, this new dive machine looks great! It really dominates the back of the park. How much? Let's have a look, shall we?

. . . "Defy the Five!" Thanks for reading.

Taken near Alpengeist: I leave you with these words: You once "Feared the Four," but now you can . . .

Wow--you'll barely be able to see Griffon once these trees "leaf out."

You know, I hear that scarfing down ribs while coaster trains roar by is better for your digestion than breathing exhaust from a kiddie-car ride.

Yes, even Ed Wood, Jr., could get good shots from this spot.

Hmm--Criswell predicts that many pictures will be taken from this spot.

Yes, don't forget to stop by the gift shop on your way out.

I dispathed the leprechaun by hitting him with a steel chair while the ref's back was turned. Now on to Griffon!

So, it's Griffon ye be wantin' to see, is it? Well, first ye must wrestle this leprechaun, it being St. Patty's day and all.

Here's one I forgot to add earlier--the view from the Rhine River Bridge.

A comment about Peter Griffon: The Ride...

The Immelman's have bars on them... I wouldn't be surprised if they were taken out within 2 months of the ride's opening [see SheiKra]. What is the point of installing them anyways if Busch is just going to take them out anyways? Just wondering...

Assuming that the bars were installed to hold nets to catch UFOs (i.e. shoes, glasses, etc. in this case), Griffon might keep them die to the floorless aspect. SheiKra could've had them for a sooner transition to floorless trains, but the park kept SheiKra's floors.

Just a guess.

*EDIT: Just realized there were pics on the last page. Nice pictures! Definately excited about this ride, can't wait until it opens! I thought it went further down to rthe river, though? Looks kinda funny how the bottom of the second drop/immelmann is 25 feet above the river!*

This is looking awesome!!! This is my first post on this site but not on forums in general...Anyway, If I could get an Admin's permission, I will give a link to a photo-album with like 60-70 photo's from yesterday! Most of them are from a member at Coaster-net named "kevin_hutch"...they haven't been posted online yet but he sent them to me to share if I get permission so let me know. Also some of the pictures are the ones from the previous page which look great! Thanks!

I think it looks great. One thing (a minor thing) that I'm having trouble adjusting to is the second immelmen. I just dont like how it sits so high. I am wondering why theydidn't keep with the terrain and go down to the water. In the video it seems like the immelmen is right above the water. If the ride did this I know that the pull out of the second vertical drop would've caused the immelmen to loop around nessie's break run but I think it would've looked more pleasing to my eye atleast. They could've even incorperated the interaction of Nessie and Griffon in the story line. Something about how the Griffon constantly taunts the Lochness Monster swooping down as if to make nessie its prey. Anyways.... Maybe when the trees fill in it wont look so... odd to me. It also comes off somewhat cluttered in the Rhine River picture. The immelmen seems to be floating since it starts so high above the water. All in all I am impressed and really don't care that much. Its going to be a great ride... I just wanted share that small opinion of mine.
