brilinjo
My favorite band changes a lot.... Right now it's Rainbow, which is the band Ritchie Blackmore formed after he left Deep Purple in 1974. Ritchie is so much better than the uber-easy "Smoke On The Water." Check out Rainbow's instrumentals Difficult To Cure, which is based on Beethoven's 9th or Anybody There, which is a really emotive electric guitar instrumental. Sharing the spot with Rainbow is Deep Purple, Queen, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, KISS, Bruce Dickinson, and Alice Cooper. Good taste swampfox. I definitely agree with you about Rainbow. Ritchie had some great singers fronting his band; Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner. Speaking of ex Deep Purple members (albeit Deep Purple Mark 3), don't forget Whitesnake was a kick ass rock band before David Coverdale was lured by the easy money to be made singing 80's power ballads. Some of my other favourites: AC/DC - up to and including Back in Black, then got too commercial The Smithereens
alpengeistdude321
At the moment, Radiohead, but only because I am in love with the first three albums. After OK Computer, it's just a bunch of noise. What happened? Radiohead used to be a rock band, but now they are a boring techno band. Whatever, The Bends and OK Computer are absolutely amazing albums. EDIT: I take most of that back, I bought the new album In Rainbows and it is amazing. zeke11793
I listen to different types of music, so I can name a few favorites from genres. Rock would have to be The Used. Dance would be Daft Punk.

televisedconfession
bring this back up from the dead. absolute favorite band (for about 10 years now): Garbage Shirley Manson is the ultimate female singer (Gwen lost her edge) Honorable Mentions: -Goldfrapp -Margot & The Nuclear So and So's -Depeche Mode -Porter -Mew -Metric -Muse I flop between Alt. Rock and Indie Dance. Folk is a growing trend with me as well. And to reply to the radiohead talk: Great Band, but wish Kid A never existed. it's just a (LITTLE) bit over-rated. In Rainbows is good, but it's no OK Computer.
