Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

P. 410: Discovery Meadow details revealed!

I think the new coaster is a GG, GCI, or EuroFighter! Does a Mega-Lite really run 15 million?!

Kawasemi at Tobu Zoo Park in Japan cost 1,760,000,000 yen (about 14.6 million USD) according to RCDB. And considering that Intimidator 305 cost about 25 million, it sounds about right. But I wouldn't call a Mega-Lite a "marquee" ride. GG, GCI or a EuroFighter may work for 8 million should be interesting.

Now that would be pretty epic if that were to happen... Having the 3 longest wooden coasters in the world, a kick a$$ twister, and a launching wooden coaster all within an hour drive. If any person were to actually have one put in a park, I could see Ed Hart doing it, especially with what he did with the park in the past. I can't shake the feeling that this $8 mil coaster if realized will be a euro-fighter though.

The State Fairgrounds seems to be in the mood to give out money these days...they just announced on the radio up here this morning that they will be opening the KFC Yum Arena, (yes, you are reading that right! ), next month at a cost of $238 million. Hopefully, they still have enough left to give Ed Hart the $50 mill. he's needing.

I think many of you are delusional.

There's a difference between wishful thinking and Kentucky Kingdom getting a launched woodie!!!!!

I really don't think this park is gonna get another "First-of-a-Kind" coaster, especially a launched woodie. But yet, time could come back around and slap me in the face with a news coverage specifying this happening.

The last thing we need at KK is a maintenance nightmare!!!

If it comes to be, I so want to work there again. I spent 5 Seasons from 2000-05 and enjoyed my job, always took it serious. I will miss my Skycoaster, but was certified on most everything else in the park.

I've actually tried to get a job at KK, not very fun at all. I stood outside for almost a hour in about 30 degrees weather with snow on the ground. They soon tried to get everyone under a roof and in air conditioning because they didn't want us to freeze. There were a lot of 15 year olds in the waiting room.

Anyways, I can't wait to see what will happen to the park. I will try to go on opening day.

^^Wasn't Twisted Twins a possibility for the park's return?

In my opinion, I don't think Twisted Twins will ever operate again. Driving by the ride every now and then, you can see it would need more work than it is worth.

The track steel is almost completely rusted, the wood that the steel rests on is dried out and splintered in many turns and pull-outs where high g's have taken place, and the base of the structure is not in good shape at all. This would cost a pretty penny and would provide a tired ride experience.

I certainly hope that Hart focuses his money elsewhere.

^ Agreed. Twisted Twins was never really a "good" coaster to begin with. I think they'd have better luck getting Thunder Run back in good shape. At least that ride really kicked ass at one point!

Remember, Twisted Twins was more of a "gimmick" coaster as the "first dueling" woodie ever. And the "duel" was really more like passing cars on the freeway. It was really more of a joke than a gimmick. The rest of the ride was just bleah.
