Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

While expanding the water park sounds nice and all, it doenst need a expansion. Alot of people go there because its the only placeyou can go swimming and have alot of fun at a waterpark at a cheap price, so Add the rides first then the waterpark mini expansion, not a big one. i do like the gotham city area idea though.

 

In my mind, just fixing, T2, and Thunder run would help bring some people back, and be a stepping stone towards improving.

 

And whoever said to add a few magnetic brakes to Greezed lightnin, that would be pretty expensive since they probably will have to buy new trains aswell. If it was to recieve any kind of upgrades though, i would do this:

 

1. Replace the weight system with air compressed system, or differnet system thats more modern and less prone to breakdown

2. add magnetic braking

3. Replace the trains.

4. repaint the ride.

 

While it doesnt need much work, number 1, should be done to help reduce wear and tear on the system.

 

My plans for T2.

 

1. repaint it

2. new trains

3. re-landscape it(its crawling with vines)

4. Theme it to something popular and will stay popular for many years.

 

For thunder run:

 

1. new trains

2. 100% new track(they did patch-work this year)

3. basic work and any replacements to the wood as necessary.

4. take down all those walls.

 

In the off-season this year, i want at least Mile high to be finished, and get thunder run all that work done, it used to be so popular now its shell of its former self. Heck if they got the money, re-paint T2 while they're at it, and tear off all those vines.

Mile high may never open now. Screamscape reports that they found a big problem on the ride which will cost a ton to fix so they may scrap it instead.

There's also that Military Channel show called Great Planes. Sure they're not amazing, but great is a good enough substitute

 

The idea of a GCI at SFKK sounds like a really good idea though, they're relatively cheap, smooth, and very fun. Although it would create a GP nightmare as in "This is just Twisted Twins with a new name"

I dont think it would matter if it was built in TT's place. As long as its good. Not alot of people liked TT by the way so it wouldnt really matter, and adding to the fact is been been SBNO for 2 seasons. I'm all for the Terminator coaster but i hope we get the theming and etc like SFMM did. If we got all of that man the park would be alive with people lol.

Went to the park yesterday. BREAKING NEWS: Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls are still closed. haha Actually there is a bit of interesting news from the park today.

 

The second train from T2 is missing. I am not sure if maintenance is being done on the train, but the chassis are still on the transfer track. I just noticed this now but it might have happened a week or two ago because I hadn't been to the park for awhile.

 

Also, Thunder Run ran really well today in both the front and back and Greased Lightnin broke down again. I could see that coming at the beginning of the day, the first ride on it of the day went a foot or two past their assigned queue gates.

Sorry dude, The 2nd train for T2 has been gone since last year. It was gone around fright fest. I love Greezed Lightin, it's so old school!

The ride was closed and one train was cleaned and sat on the transfer track to dry after a run of sprinkling onlookers waiting for the ride to open.

 

The ride opened 20 minutes later running the train that was previously on the transfer track. It might have left for a little while last year but there were two present previously this year.

I was there on June 6 this year and there was only one train. The transfer track was clear.

Possibly the one I saw being cleaned had the seats removed later that day/week. It was about 5 or 6 weeks ago that I noticed the 2 trains and I hadn't ridden it until yesterday due to the pain it creates so I didn't see the one missing til then.

 

If I knew that it was strange to see 2 on the tracks I would have taken a picture.

I have a picture from last year that the train was gone, DBru pointed it out and I snapped a picture when I was there. They probaly did move it back.

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about the missing T2 train. One train has "gone missing" for the past two seasons. I always get excited about it, but the train eventually reappears. I bet it's just routine maintenance/cleaning. Which I will further speculate means no new trains for T2 next year, because if they knew they were getting them, why would they bother working on the old ones?

T2 is just so bad, it needs to go.

 

Screamscape reported that The Serial Thriller from Astroworld was seen leaving Great Escape, who knows, maybe T2 will be replaced with that one.

 

I'm not sure if the footers would match up, though. After all, T2 was a prototype.

^What would be the point of taking down a terrible ride just to replace it with the same thing that's still terrible? IMO, T2 needs to go, and a real invert needs to replace it.

I heart fully believe that there are some significant structural problems with that ride... enough to cease 2-train operation.

i went to sfkk on tuesday and it wasnt too bad... it does need a few things

 

-few more flat rides

- new paint job for t2

- new coaster were twisted twins was

- a B&M sitdown (could be the one that takes the place of twisted twins)

- focus less on the water park ( if the coasters expand, the water park will stop being so busy)

I think Chang would be a awesome coaster with sit down cars, or floorless.
