Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed T3? The only other Vekoma SLC I've ridden is Mind Eraser at SFNE so I don't have much to compare it with, but I thought it was much smoother than Mind Eraser. I didn't have any problems with the restraint crushing my thighs, either.

SLC's are great intense rides. If most people just kept there head forward they would realize that there more intense then 50% of the beemer inverts out there. I rode T2 and liked it, so im sure the improved T3 is even better.

That may work for you, but everyone has a different body that may not work for that or may have other issues with it.

For example, I hate riding Boomerang @SFFT because the restraint locks right on my shoulders and applies unnecessary pressure to them. I can't exactly lean forward at all so I have to suffer two giant smacks to the head during the cobra roll.

The new restraints are actually part of the problem with T3 though! You can't lean forward, but you don't need to, because there's nothing to bang your head against. But while there isn't that, for whatever reason, the restraint keeps tightening and pressing down the entire ride. You think those restraints on GateKeeper opening year were bad? Take that discomfort, multiply it a few times, and that's what it feels like by the time you're sitting on the brake run, feeling your legs slowly going numb! And that's not even discussing the fact the entire train feels like it's shimmying the entire time it's running its course! I despise SLC's to begin with (the proper way to feel about them ), but was optimistic about T3 because of the new restraints. Instead, it became my least favorite SLC... Terrible, terrible coaster, and if they hadn't invested so much money into trying to fix it up just recently, I'd hope for a water park expansion to replace it ASAP!!! (But one good thing on the side, is that Thunderhawk looks a lot better in comparison to T3! )

Oh, and I know it's all personal opinion, but from my extensive experience, the worst B&M or Intamin Invert, is way better than the best Vekoma SLC!

I agree with that. Im the same way with the new B&M vests. The way the restraint crushes my crotch is horrible and makes me hate them. So I see what you are saying about different body types. Im 5-10 and on the thiner side at only 180 pounds and can not get comfortable with them.

I figured I wouldn't exactly be a fan of T3, but I never imagined the new restraints would be a contributing factor! I'm one of those weirdos who likes Great Nor'Easter, although I'm not positive that was because of the vests. Is it true that the back is actually the best seat, and is that consistent among SLCs?

Kill it with fire. Will it with fire

I never realized the T actually stands for Torture.

Protip: stuff pillows into your pants, so the restraints won't make your legs go numb. This takes "riding defensively" to a whole new level

Relative to every other seat, yes. I still ride it when I get the chance, but only in the last two rows. If you guys rode any of the front seats... I feel especially sorry for you!

WOW! My day at Kentucky Kingdom was worth the 7hr drive from Alabama! The park was fantastic! True, it was busy (Saturday with nice weather, it was expected) and the lines were long, but I managed to ride Lighting Run, Thunder Run, Roller Skater, T3, and Storm Chaser! ALL 5 COASTERS IN ONE DAY! It struck me as odd Storm Chaser had the shortest wait because I rode it back to back. It's probably because it's tucked away in the back of the park. LOL. I also managed to ride all the thrill rides as well. Sadly, no water park. I'm not a water park fan. Sorry. LOL. Overall, I had a great day! I will be doing a trip report so stay tuned! By the way, I rode both the blue and purple train and both trains packed a punch. Sitting in the back on both trains left me out my seat just about the whole ride. Storm Chaser IS A MUST RIDE and COASTER CREDIT!

I did ride T3 in the front, so there's that. However, Thunderhawk in the front was WAY better than our 3rd or 4th row ride!

Too be honest, it's a tough pick, but I would choose Storm Chaser. Even though Lightning Run had great airtime, Storm Chaser had the most INTENSE airtime. That first hill had me like . . . "Sweet Mercy! Let me hold on!" LOL. Both are great coasters and I would advise anyone to get those coaster credits. It's well worth it!

I always thought the single most intense and forceful airtime I'd ever felt was on Maverick... That first hill on Storm Chaser laughs at Maverick's hills! (The second airtime hill on Storm Chaser still delivers it about as strong as Maverick's hills do!)

This is why NTaG is so awesome. It has airtime like that all the way through. Some of it isn't quite as forceful as Maverick, but the first half is definitely up there.

And now we're saddled with it here in NJ.
