sfkk339
Plus Iv'e heard from people that the Height restriction was about 300 feet, if true its more then enough room to put any ride you want....except a Giga or Starta and we all know SFKK will never get one of those due to limited space in the park. CoryPa77
I was told specifically by Larry Bill that 72' was the highest Twisted Twins could have been. He told me that CCI had to go through pretty elaborate lengths designing that ride including getting blueprints for the runway at the airport, etc... I'm pretty sure the old management (Ed Hart, Ron Berni) had originally asked for about a 100' high ride from CCI and ended up with 72'. The runway extension should make no difference on the height limitations in that part of the park. By the way, UPS cancelled their Airbus orders for the A380. Thats probaly due to that there was no room in the park to make a higher hill, the park is landlocked which adds another twist in things. The heighest ride in the park is over 200 feet so.... CoryPa77
They could have made a higher hill on Twisted Twins, it would have just been a different layout. In that section of the park, the highest hill they could have built was 70'-80' which is why it ended up that way. There are no rides in the Twisted Twins, Thunder Run, Mile High Falls section that are over 100' high because of the West runway approach.

The west runway is almost derectly in front of Chang. Someone who sits out on the wavepool will tell you that planes fly right over chang.

Have you ever seen that lake or swamp or watev right next to gate 2 at the fairgrounds?or dat lot behind chang, nd that land behind t2?

CoryPa77
I was trying to point out earlier that there was a line that extended from the former Hellevator location through the Ferris Wheel and Chang where they could build higher. The west runway runs parallel to Crittenden Dr. and Chang is not in that path. Airplanes are not flying directly over Chang, they may appear to, but they're not. Look for yourself on Google Maps. All I'm saying is that if they're going to be building anything 150' then it's going to have to be somewhere in that line I mentioned above and not anywhere near Twisted Twins, Mile High, etc... sfkk339
Your right....So relaity is that we might not see anything replace that area? A GCI would still fit under the height limit but doesn't a giant frissbie go over 80 feet?

EnglndPatriots6
They need to do a step b step plan to re-do that back section. next offseason , Refurb/Rehab Mile high, reopen it like they are planning on, and push that fence back behind the exit line During the season/offseason Re-Landscape the main entrance into the Northwest Territory, if the hot air balloon ride is still there, possible rehab it for the time being, push the fence back to the end of it. and start developing a plan to re-do that section, and then so on and so on. EnglndPatriots6
It seems like that area is used for alot of storage of random rides like that, and old building from the park. Actually that may be that turtle ride they was going to put in where the bumble bees were, and then in the 2007 season, they put up that stage and they was gone, so thats a possibility. ConleyKE
CoryPA77 is correct, the west side of the park (Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls) is in the direct path of one of the SDF runways, and therefore has a lower height restriction than over by Chang. Maybe the City could help . I mean they are willing to throw money at a 400 million dollar bridge that we dont need just to make people in the east end shut up so i dont see a problem helping to pay for some work at the park The East End bridge is needed to connect the Gene Snyder to I-265 in Indiana. It's not so much to make east enders shut up as it is to alleviate traffic through downtown, especially motorists going from I-71 to I-65. It is just as necessary as the Sherman Minton Bridge is to the west end.
