Hattuchili
Photo-TR: Soren, The World Traveler. Update 07.24. – Next Stop: Recife, Brasil Hey guys, finally after weeks of hard work, flying around the world, I have some time for an update. This time I want to take you to Recife, the 5th larges city in the northeast of Brasil. Unfortunately we had just 1 night there and thats why I could only take a couple pictures for you guys. Anyway, here is an intersting fact about Recife and its beaches: Shark attacks In recent years, the number of shark attacks on the beaches of Recife has increased. This was addressed on the National Geographic Channel series Hunter Hunted in the episode "Shark Invasion". Surfing has been outlawed since 1995 on the urban beaches because of the risk the sport poses to its practitioners due to shark attacks. Before the 1990s, there were virtually no attacks reported here. But since 1992, there have been 47 shark attacks along a 20-km (12.5-mile) stretch of coast. Sixteen of them were fatal. In 2004, there were seven reported attacks. Two of the victims died. Source: Wikipedia Luckily, our hotel is right beside one of this dangerous beaches. Okay, onto some pictures. --Soren Arg... Guys, havn´t you seen the sign? / That is it for now. A new update will be posted, soon. Look at the beach, isnt it nice? How about some swimming??? Meat or no meat that is the question... For dinner the whole crew went out to a nice Churrascaria, near by the hotel. But from here it still looks nice. Uhh, maybe it is not that wonderful and nice!?? ... ... So, lets get down to the wonderful beach. From here you also have a great view over to the airport. The Jacuzzi... oh wait, it is just the kids pool. The pool. It was a great day. The beach. Next, I went up on the roof for a couple pictures. ... there is the beach. Hmm, the view isn´t that nice, but... There we are. I think it is okay for 1 night. On my way to the room. This will be my home for the next night. Welcome to Recife airport.
Hattuchili
Schedule changing!!! Any recommendations for Vancouver, Canada? Hey guys, the company just informed me that I have to fly to Vancouver, tomorrow. It looks like that I will stay there for just 2 days. I have never been there and I found out there is a theme park, called Playland. Do you guys have been there? Any recommendations about the city and how to spend a couple days would be great. Thanks in advance, --Soren
XII
Vancouver is a good city to walk around in. Playland is a fun small park worth stopping for. Aside from that, they've got an aquarium, a suspension bridge, Stanley Park, and many other fun activities. You'll have a great time.
Franc
Some of us have been there (myself included). Yes, you should definitely visit the park. You don't need a whole day, only a couple hours should be fine. Coaster is one of its kind. It might not look amazing from the outside, but once inside, it is CRAZY EJECTOR AIRTIME the whole ride. I am no exagerating, you'll be on your feet the whole ride. It's almost scary. There's a bus (public transit) that will get you there straight from downtown. It's really easy to go there. As for the city, it depends what you enjoy the most. Vancouver is very very varied. Make sure to go to Canada Place or where the convention center is (next door). Walk along the water. Enjoy the scenery. If you get a sunny day, it is beautiful! The mountains on one side and the skyscrapers on the other. Go in Yaletown for some good dining. Feel like being surrounded by thousands of shoppers, walk along Robson Street and Grandville. You can also go to the Capilano Suspended Bridge if you feel adventurous and like being in the nature(very touristic though). Well, I don't live in Vancouver, but have a second house there, so, I know a little bit about the city. I think Nrthwnd could help you a lot. He's been living there for a long time

Thanks in advance, --Soren Vancouver is such a great town, get over to Graneville Island for some good eats and some fun shopping. If you have the time get over to Victoria island and see the gardens, they area amzazing. the ferry ride over is nice too. There are so many things to see and do while you are there, oh if you do get over to the island and can afford it eat at Murchies, mmmm. The zoo is nice, the museums are great, but I can't say enough about Graneville Island in the center of the town.

bdstrom
I love this thread! I wish I became a flight attendant but I am stuck with my career for now. The other day I was reading an news article on how miserable this type of job can be, but do you truly enjoy it? Keep it up, I like this thread. Add pictures of inside the plane during the flight if policy permits.
Hattuchili
The other day I was reading an news article on how miserable this type of job can be, but do you truly enjoy it? Hattuchili
Photo-TR: Soren, The World Traveler. Update 08.18. – Next Stop: Puerto Plata, Dom. Rep. Hey guys, Time for another update. I am sorry you had to wait so long, but I was way to busy in the last weeks. This time I want to Puerto Plata in the Dom. Rep.! The hotel is a RIU resort, which is in the middle of nowhere. You have to drive appr. 20 minutes to find some restaurants or shops outside of the resort. However, the RIU hotel is an all-inclusive resort, which makes is hard not to get drunk. hehe... Other than that the place is just okay. The food could be better and the rooms are always smelling kinda strange, which I am sure is caused by the humidity there. --Soren Onto the pictures: Let´s finish this report with a nice crew dinner. More is coming, soon. The Caramba bar, open 24/7 !!! The beach seen from a hill at the end of the beach. ... The beach. The pool. Here is the shopping area. Ready for exploring the resort? The view out of my room. Out of the uniform and right away a cold beer. So, your 4 litres alcohole are going to be replaced every 2 days. The mini bar - ready for a drink? Enough space for me. There we are. On the way to my room. Welcome at the RIU Bachata. World Traveler Map: Puerto Plata

Update 02.03 – Next Stop: Hulhule Island, Maldives Hey everyone, after some very busy months, I am finally able to post some new pictures from my way around the world. This time I have been to the Maldives and even better, I took my brother with me. The crew hotel is right on Hulhule Island, the airport island. Even the hotel is right beside the runway, you can not really hear the plans landing and starting. Overall it is a nice hotel and we had a lot of fun. One day we booked a boat to Bandos Island to relax and for some snorkeling. Okay, onto the pictures: --Sören I am going to end this PTR with this shot, which shows how wonderful the trip has been. Thanks for reading. ... ... There have been so many different fish sorts, swimming around us. Next we went snorkeling. Footprints in the sand, I always wanted to be alone on an island. Everything was so peaceful and nice. Yep, thats where I could spend a couple months. ... And a wonderful beach... A great reef for snorkeling. However, we made it to this wonderful island. ... since the captain jumped overboard and left us alone. Bye bye hotel, we hope to see you again... The other day we took a boat over to Bandos Island. But therefor lots of motor bikes. They are not having lots of cars on the island. Next we saw this race car. I am just curious where they are going to run the car??? ... and the guy who is cutting apart those huge fish in less then 5 minutes. There we found some fish... Next morning we took the boat to Male, which is right beside Hulhule Island. ... and later in the evening, watching the sundown. ... ... A bit snorkeling... Right, a beer at the beach. What could be better then spending some time at the beach? The beach beside the hotel. The harbour right beside the hotel. From there you can take a boat to one of the islands. The pool. The Hotel. Male International Airport. Leaving our B767 aircraft. Hulhule Island, the airport from the Maldives. Actually there isn´t much more then the airport and a hotel. Welcome to the Maldives. gisco
I love these reports Soren. The places you go are beautiful. How many days do you usually lay over before you have to fly back?
Hattuchili
^ Thanks. It all depends on the destination we are flying to. Sometimes it is just a night, but we also have some destinations where we are staying for a week. I think in total I can say it is between 2 and 3 nights per layover. --Soren
chemical_echo
The Maldives look amazing. bgwfreak777
Great photos and I'd love to try out your job sometime, except I can't speak a lick of German.
Hattuchili
^ I am sure you are having some airlines in the US, too! Other than that it is more important to speak english, since all safety instructions are in english. You will not get a job at a German airline, if you are not speaking english. --Soren
