Nrthwnd
There's still today and tomorrow. I'm worried there's going to be one more shock coming.
WayCool64
Tony Rosato died of a heart attack at 62 today. Everyone who's been on YouTube should know him best as Mama Luigi from the Super Mario World cartoon. I guess I'm glad one of the episodes in my animation project is a tribute to that particular episode.
Nrthwnd
Sad to hear that Mr Morey (Morey's Piers) died just a few days ago. His piers look like a blast, hope to someday visit them. Sad to read, also. William "Bill" Morey, Sr. passed away on the 15th.
scottiemon
This is sad...she was a very nice lady. She was a staple on my TV for many years growing up. Mary Tyler Moore, who played TV’s first sexy housewife in the Dick Van Dyke show, and then a single, career woman who could turn the world on with her smile in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, died today. She was 80.
Nrthwnd
^ I and others met her at a performance of "Jerome Robbin's Broadway" in New York, 1989. I was with a group from a convention. We had seats in front of her and her escort. And she knew one of us (who wasn't there unfort.) as a NY assistant to her a few years back. So she knew about our convention, asked how it was going, and said 'hi' to all of us. It was a 'cherry' (dessert first?) on the top of a great production we saw, that evening. And Jason Alexander - later to become "George" in Seinfeld - was the lead in this, too! I will always remember that encounter with her. And that great show. And she was BRILLIANT in "Ordinary People", too!
cparkes92
One silver lining: 2017 is off to a slower start (so far) than 2016, with MTM being the only widely-known celebrity to pass so far. At this point last year, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, and Glenn Frey had all passed away

coasterkid124
Mike Ilitch has died at 87. He may not go down as a "celebrity", but he is known for owning the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, and Little Caesars chain. This man completely turned around the Red Wings franchise from an era where they were consistently bottom of the standings, to a team that has made the playoffs 25 straight years. Plus he began construction of a new arena that unfortunately he will not be able to see completed. RIP.

gisco
Any one know what kind of surgery Bill Paxton had that caused the complications leading to his death?
Philrad71
^ Sounds like he passed from heart surgery complications and he was a bit nervous about it because he had admitted a couple of weeks prior that he been diagnosed with heart damage from a battle with rheumatic fever as a child. As someone that almost lost their partner recently due to surgical complications, my word of advice is to always seek a 2nd opinion before rushing into any type of surgery...even if the doctor tells you that "it's a common procedure with minimal risk". scottiemon
If you remember "The Gong Show", you most certainly remember Chuck Barris. He may or may not have worked for the CIA as an assassin (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind). Dead at age 87. Gong Show was a daily routine for me for a few years in grammar school. Running home so to be on time for the whole show...no VCR/DVR/On Demand like we have today!

Philrad71
Certainly a shocker there. Not a huge fan of Soundgarden or his other bands, but there was no mistaking his voice. Sad.
