DrEmmettBrown88 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Sad news indeed. We've lost another great dreamer at such an early age to this terrible disease. “On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer” - Satoru Iwata
Simipour'sTrainer Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 My heart sank so much when I read the news that Satoru Iwata passed away at age 55. RIP Satoru Iwata And thanks for Earthbound (and many other great games)
Garet Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Watched the prestige a little while ago and was trying to work out who the actor was playing Owens. Turns out he died 3 days ago: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/11736417/Roger-Rees-actor-obituary.html

Doctorow has died in New York aged 84 from complications of lung cancer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was most known for penning the novel Ragtime, which was published in 1975 and subsequently adapted into a film starring James Cagney and a stage musical. With a book by Terrence McNally, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and music by Stephen Flaherty, the original Broadway production opened on January 18, 1998, with a cast including Brian Stokes Mitchell, Marin Mazzie, Peter Friedman, Audra McDonald, Judy Kaye and Lea Michele. The musical won four Tonys: Best Featured Actress (McDonald, naturally), Original Score, Book and Orchestrations.
cfc Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Doctorow was an interesting writer. I loved Ragtime and really liked Billy Bathgate and The March. But Welcome to Hard Times and World's Fair bored and irritated me.
DoinItForTheFame Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (Not sure if this has been mentioned already.) Bobbi Kristina Brown dies at 22. Like mother like daughter... To soon? In all seriousness though, it is always sad to see someone with so much potential throw their life away.
cfc Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Rest in Peace "Rowdy" Roddy Piper--one of the most entertaining professional wrestlers who ever hit somebody over the head with a chair. He was truly one of a kind.

Nrthwnd Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 ^ For musical lovers, Jones was the original Bobby in Stephen Sondheim's 1970 musical Company. RIP DJ Dean Jones as Bobby, front and centre, in the original Broadway cast (1970) of Sondheim's COMPANY.
bbomser Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Yogi Berra passed away this morning at 90 years old. Heck of a baseball player, but most people nowadays know him from his wit and malapropisms. Some of my favorites: "When you come to a fork in the road, take it" "Baseball is 90 percent mental, the other half is physical" "Always go to other peoples funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours" "It ain't over till it's over" RIP Yogi
cal1br3tto Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 To be honest, I didn't even realize he had still been alive. I guess I was just clueless as to his age and exactly when he was famous.
Nrthwnd Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 One of my favourite redheads just passed away... Maureen O'Hara
Philrad71 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Big Al from Happy Days...some of us old timers might remember him! Big Al
Philrad71 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 A horror movie icon in one of the best horror movies of all time - Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen) from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Gunnar Hansen
Philrad71 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Scott Weiland - singer of Stone Temple Pilots is dead at 48. This sucks as I was a HUGE fan of the band. Although I can't say that it comes as a total surprise given his history of substance abuse that ultimately caused the break-up of the band. RIP Scott. Scott Weiland
Nrthwnd Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 RIP Robert Loggia - great actor in so many films and shows.
Nrthwnd Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I just found out about this yesterday, and although there probably aren't a lot of opera fans in this site, this still counts. Margaret Juntwait was the main commentator for "Live At The MET" on Saturdays, for over ten years with her co-host Ira Siff. A wonderful radio host, she passed away this summer from cancer. And as everybody has said on air, since the new season began yesterday....she will be missed.
