Six Flags Great America (SFGAm) Discussion Thread

According to RCDB, The Dark Knight will be this model, seen here at "Nigloland" in France.

The main difference with the previous Wild Mouse is that this one uses magnetic braking! http://www.rcdb.com/ig3703.htm?picture=3

Sadly... the critics for the "Schlitt' Express" are not very good. Its too tame, so maybe it is a good thing, as it will allow the riders to look at the theming!

I'm just so completely non-plussed by the Dark Knights, I'll probably ride two of them this year, get the credit and move along.

Scooby Doo at Movie World was pretty good but that had a custom backwards drop and the best part was the ghost train/coaster part before you even get to the mack wild mouse part.

It's a good bet plans will continue forward even with Ledger's passing. In some ways, these projects will be marred. They'll still do just fine, but they won't have the same shine as before.

I agree. Wasn't the Joker supposed to have some involvement with like taunting you while you're in line? I guess Heath Ledger won't record those bits now

^^It is sort of odd, but the building is in fact being built first.

I believe that's how they built The Exterminator at KW. (Probably on the same scale as this too.)

If I remember correctly, when they built Skull Mountain at SFGAd, they were constructing the track and building at the same time. Actually, I think they had 3 sides of the building up and the front exposed. I'd imagine this is how they'd go about building TDK as well. Makes sense as the coaster installation can be completed out of the elements. Plus, with a Mouse coaster, I don't think a particularly large crane is necessary (if any at all). These types of coasters get built and torn down at carnivals on a weekly basis.

^Well, for now, they are just going to SFGAm, SFGAdv, and SFNE, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they build a few more next year. Take Tony Hawk's Big Spin for example. They built one in St. Louis and San Antonio last year, and this year they are adding them in Dallas and NorCal.

What was the smoke/dust looking stuff in a few of those pictures.

Another thing, I wish I got the Deja Vu sign that the one guy was holding.

Boy...The Joker's very disappointing when he turned into a character. Boo. Down with mask, up with face paint!

You said it! And what's with the 60's TV show looking charactor's vs. the more recent 80's and 90's and even the current series versions? Did SF get a deal on the old rights or somthing? Kinda weak.

On the plus side, I dig the trains. Don't know why, but I like them. Looking foreward to the real trains in the spring.
