It's clear through this photo, but Superman: The Escape was one of the tallest roller coasters in the world when it debuted in 1996! (Cheap comment awareness is a good thing...)

They really need to open up Metro. It helps with crowd flow and can keep you from having to walk around the entire park to get somewhere.

Tidal Wave should be MUCH MUCH busier than this on a hot day like today! I'm not being sarcastic!

Yes, SFMM DOES actually have a movie theater within park grounds! They just make it look like a bathroom. Go to the 3rd toilet stall, knock 3 times, and Mark Shapiro will personally let you in. See, aren't all the little secrets of SFMM fun?

Magically, I got a photo of TS and DD operating at exactly the same time. I fell over and was on the ground for about 10 minutes before I woke up and began heading over to the other side of the park.

Cyclone 500 was one of the first theme park Go Cart style rides I've been on.

You can see some of the complicated crap on the tower. Like the pulleys and the wires.

Mario Kart is a lot better than "SFMM Kart".

See? They really do look like lawn mowers!

In Canada, people drive around in little yellow carts. In America, they push little trash sweepers that look like lawn mowers!

Still staring at those awesome towers.... You can tell I like S&S rides, right?

Was the awesomest ride ever, until we got the bill for how much it was to ride.

The Wii experience is pretty cool. But you don't need to do it. Just go out and get one! I fully recommend it to anyone who likes having fun!

They had (and still have, I think) a deal where you can buy a Dive Devil flight and get a Thrill Shot ride for only $5. Mom and dad wouldn't want to go on Dive Devil just for a $5 ride on Thrill Shot, though.

I wish the almighty S&S god would just zap Thrill Shot with lightning and make the old car reappear.

At this point, I'm just drooling....

Oh noes! The sun has melted some of the supports for Dive Devil! IT'S GOING TO FALL!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!

You get a lot of wind through the station if it picks up at all. It can pass easily through the windows and the slits up there.

You can see the beautiful desert mountain range from Goliath's station.

They did a good job making the door blend in. Sorta...

The station of Goliath seems to be made out of bamboo. Can you tell?

Snickers on a Giovanola = EPIC WIN!!!

Goliath has queue mist, but it looks like it's not on at the moment.

Poor Colossus hasn't had much attention since all the other coasters were built.

This shot makes it evident how the catwalk and brake supports are shaped. Good at designing RCT3 CS? Use this photo a little bit for the nerdy crap.....

This Giovanola seems to have a quiet 'first drop roar' too.

The supports have faded because of the bright California sun. Heck, most of the rides have faded a bit because of the sun! Only X2, Viper, and Tatsu are still in good condition.

It's cool how it slows down right at the top. Klu.....Klunk.....Klu...KluKluKLuKLUNK!!

If you have anything small that's easy to fit into your pockets, don't use the locker to store them. Goliath won't beat them up too much.

Queue rails. OMG!

This picture easily demonstrates how dirty the catchnets are.

NOTED!

If you've never been to SFMM or have never heard a Reverse Freefall coaster before, you can hear it from anywhere in the park. I'm NOT joking! Just listen for the jet-airplane sounding noise, or stand under it on the midway. It is one of the loudest and most extreme noises you will hear IN YOUR LIFE!

^^Yeah, I was surprised by Goliath's short time too. I believe it was.... maybe 20 minutes including the walk to the station. But the station was just barely full, and it was 2 train operation. Yay Goliath!

 

^Thank you! And yes, I totally think that Metro would help ease the crowds that gather at SFMM. I've heard that on busy days it can get really crowded and I think Metro would help with that.

Wow that was a lot of pictures, a lot. Some of them were so blurry, my eyes hurt. It was a good report, but next time I would try to hold back a little on every single picture/detail.

^^Yes, I know they're pretty blurry. The camera on the DSi is pretty good resolution, but the photos tend to look crappy when they're enlarged. It's a sad fact of life.

I mean, Matterhorn's mountain is easily visable, but I can't seem to spot the castle at all! What the heck?

The castle *should* be there, but it looks like Disney had to move it to a putt putt golf course as a golfing obstacle. See what the economy is doing to everybody?

As my thumb is pointing out, our first mission is to get to New Orleans Square.

The oldest car still in commercial operation.

It's good that Disney manages to keep up good transportation methods to keep people moving.

I almost think the horses that pull the carrages are robots... they make you think that they're covering the eyes to keep the horses from going crazy... but the blindfolds are to cover up THEY'RE ELECTRIC EYES! Disney is good at eyes, but they couldn't build horse eyes, so they coverd them up... So every horse you see at Disneyland is a robot, kinda like Lucky the Dinosaur! Or I'm just going crazy and the horses are real and they're just blindfolded.

I tried to take a picture of the candy shop, but the DSi camera didn't transition well. This was the clearest shot I got!

The Indian cheif looks like he's exasperated with life. He'd much rather be hanging out at Knott's in front of Pony Express... WAAYYY better than standing in front of a candy shop being forced to be in photos with crying 4-year olds asking to go to the bathroom!

Is it me, or is DL busy? Nope, it's actually about as busy as it always is.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip and want to share the fun with everyone else. However, never feel obligated to post every picture you take on a trip. For example, your joke about "robotic horses" required but one shot--of a horse. You used three (inlcuding one that didn't even feature a horse). Your comments regarding the castle v. the Matterhorn required only one picture, too.

 

Yes, sometimes, you have to post a less-than-optimal picture to make a point (or, as I do from time to time, for a cheap laugh). But try to be a bit more selective in the future.

 

That being said, keep on trying. My first TRs were virtual comedies of errors.

I apologize for taking so long, but my schedule has been very busy.

 

Friday: Had to go to dinner and got home too late to go on the computer (yes, my parents have begun restricting me to how long I can stay on at night! Isn't that sad?)

Saturday: Was lazy and didn't get to it.

Sunday: I don't quite remember, but I think I was a little busy.

Monday: The Altar Boy Boot Camp at my church that occupied me from Monday to Wednesday.

Tuesday: ABBC again.

Wednesday: When we got done with the last day, we went camping at Kitsap Memorial State park.

Thursday: Getting used to being gone from the house for more than 24 hours. We returned late anyways

Today: Once again, too late to get more than 10 photos in (just got back from dinner at Olive Garden).

 

However I'm sure I'll be able to get in at least a few photos in by Sunday or Monday. But if not, note that I am very busy, but that I'm still paying attention to my very important trip report threads.

 

Thank you all for your patience! I'd also like to announce that I'm going to Wild Waves tomorrow (my smal local mediocre theme park near Seattle) and I'll get some photos from there as well.

I ditto everything that CFC (Chuck) said above & I feel I must also chime in regarding the lack of editing in your TR.

 

TOO MANY photos of the same stuff will start to bore your readers. A queue line, a tree in the queue line, a sign in the queue line, a door in the queue line.... enough of the queue line.

 

Try not to include any blurry photos. Very annoying. You have two photos of signs that are too blurry to read, and your captions are "Cool" and "awesome". Unless your slow shutter speed is cool, I don't get it.

 

If I have a TR that I have SELECTED 60 photos for, I'll go back through and remove 10 of them, making my TR stop at the 50 pic TPR limit.

Think about if you were reading a trip report and just ask yourself: "Is this pic or caption really THAT interesting?" if you hesitate to say yes, then it probably isn't.

 

I am a professional filmmaker, and I know a thing or two about telling stories through imagery.

 

I hope you don't feel like people are ganging up on you. In all actuality, I want to help. I think you're on the right track with your TRs. You've got some nice thoughts and some decent pics. You just need to be more selective. Sometimes LESS is MORE.

How did you like Goliath? I have never ridden it but I've ridden it's brother Titan. Made me sick but still fun. Did you catch any air on that first drop? I didn't get any on Titan's for some reason.
