Kiddieland Photo TR

Recommended Posts

Now, since no one reads these, I will just say that Kiddieland is a great little park, and if you have the chance, you should visit it before it closes. It really is a nice little park, and I hope it beats the odds and reopens in 2010.

Edit: pictures switched order from preview.

The top part of the sign since that's all I could get from inside the park since I couldn't take a good photo from the parking lot. (crowds and sun) Also, I think these children might be scarier than the hot dogs on top of Superdawg.

The theming on Log Jammer was really nice. It was about the level of Viper's station at SFGAM. Again, a surprise for such a little park. Next up, the final set of photos.

That Little Dipper looks too cute, maybe Little Amerricka or Knoebels could rescue it if Kiddieland closes.

Why would Little Amerricka get the Little Dipper when they already have the Meteor which is a clone of it?

I was speaking figuratively, maybe I should have made that more obvious. I have been to Little Amerricka and ridden Meteor so I kind of do realise Meteor and Little Dipper are very similiar coasters.

I'm more hoping someone will pick up Little Dipper, it looks worth saving.

For a park called "Kiddieland," it seems to have its share of adult rides. It will be sad if this park closes

It really is more of a family park as opposed to a kiddie park, and some of the adult rides had good cycles. The rides that I did ride, (not a single rider as I'm not that sad and pathetic) were a lot of fun, and some of the rides that I didn't (tilt-a-whirl) looked to have some intense cycles. Even the kiddie tea cups looked pretty intense for a kiddie ride. The Little Dipper was also a lot of fun despite being really small, and there were two moments when there was almost airtime.

Hmm.. This makes me consider a quick visit on the way to or from Six Flags Great America in a couple weeks. If SF doesn't have all of their coasters up, I can still get my 100th coaster in! (Im at 89 right now, I need all 11 coasters at SF to be open) Great pictures! Looks like a nice little place.

Kiddieland was a much better park than I expected when I visited for the first and only time last weekend.

It was a little shocking that a "Family" park is the first park I've been to where the security guards carried guns. They may have been tasers, I didn't get a good look. I guess that just speaks to the area where the park is located.

^ Here Here!

Here in Michigan, we got a little park called Dutch Village in Holland, Michigan. The place has a carousel and a swing ride. I think Little Dipper would definitely fit for that place.

I would love to see the ride to go Bay Beach in Green Bay, WI. The place looks outstanding from the pictures I've seen and they just added a classic ride there this year. Basically following the same path as the Little Dipper that was at Hillcrest Park and moved to Wisconsin.

I dont think it will go to Knoebels either, they have way to much to do with Golden Nugget and Flying Turns. I would like it to go to a little park to try to boost there attendance, unfortunatly most of these smaller parks dont have the infrastructure to move these coaster.

Maybe Grand Bear Lodge will purchase it along with some of the other rides like they did with Santa's Village. The owners want to build a new park, and purchasing some used rides from here would be an affordable way to get some new rides. The log flume is also really good, my second favorite after SFSTL, and it is actually quite long. It is also very fast, and the splash gets you pretty wet.

I used to wish that Dutch Village would get a couple more rides... I enjoy it for the atmosphere, though. You left out the slide and other play areas, which are borderline amusements....

I was just happy to find out my fiance is NOT a witch, according to the giant scales at Dutch Village.

I've gone to Kiddiland every year for the last 5 as there was always talk of it closing and Little Dipper was my first coaster. Now it's officially closing after this summer. What really sucks is that it's not even a low turn-out issue. It's family squabbles over the land. Little Dipper is so small, someone must have room in their backyard for it. The average suburban Chicago yard does.

I feel really sad now that we didn't go to this park a couple of years ago when we had the chance. With our trip to Disney having already passed, and finances being tight we won't be able to make it over there any time soon. Hopefully, maybe they'll manage to survive, or be bought by in the near future. Great little park though...and a great TR too.

Unfortunately, that won't happen. Half the family owns the land and half the family owns the park. The landowners feel they can get more money by selling the land to someone else rather than continuing to lease it to the family that owns Kiddieland. The sad thing is, the original owner willed it half and half that way to ensure the park would continue. They've been battling in court about it for years and now it's over and we all lose.
