Map of Every Coaster in the US using Google Earth

Recommended Posts

I was bored one day so I decided to map out every amusement park with a roller coaster in the US. This doesn't include parks where all coasters are SBNO, only parks that have at least one functioning coaster. I have to say thanks to Duane from http://www.rcdb.com because that was the site I used to map all of this out. It took around 1-2 months to finish it.

Wow...that's...impressive. lol

It really gives you a good perspective of what parks are competing against each other. Amusement Park Drive-In doesn't seem to have much to worry about.

But it seems that you left off a few places, such as Dollywood, BGE, Hersheypark, Indiana Beach, and multiple Cedar Fair & Six Flags parks...

Great idea, thank you! I love doing this for any trips I might be doing but seeing the whole of the US is going to help work out visually whats near by if I ever get over there with a bit more freedom (ie car...). Would you be willing to put up the link to view it direct instead of a print screen?

Someone buy this man a Gameboy!

It's actually a really cool chart. I'm amazed you have the patience to do something like this O_O

I've been doing something similar over the past year:

Don't be alarmed by the color coding. It's just to try and separate the credit stops from the major parks in each region. Green is a big park, red is more of a credit stop!

If you see something wrong, or parks that should be there, tell me! Some regions like Scandinavia should contain about every park! Hopefully it will help someone planning their trips, just like it has helped me

^They aren't all written. There are a ton of pushpins that aren't lit up on there.

Right, they're just buried beneath other ones. Don't forget that half of these are just kiddie coasters.

why no link?

Tell me how and I will.

Wow, that's impressive! The color coding is a great idea. Are you mapping the entire world? I had no idea there was a coaster in Antartica

Just because he just proved he's an even bigger nerd than you doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it

Clearly there's no coaster in Antartica, it was just funny that he put that on his map. "A very little known park, that is locally know as the "Cedar Point of the south Pole"!"

Coast2coaster.com is pretty awesome.

Nosferatu: I didn't study your map very closely, but noticed that the ORIGINAL DISNEYLAND in California is MISSING! OMFG!!!!

I have been working on a similar map as Coast2coaster, but mine doesn't include "credit whore" stops. All parks on my map have at least one legitimate Non-Kiddie coaster.

Check it out here (it takes a minute to fully load):

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=105583143516851356071.0004659db4999e1713a31&ll=37.370157,-95.800781&spn=34.96075,54.052734&z=4

You can click on the balloons / thumbtacks for more info and links to the official websites.

It looks to be there to me. Just that Google Earth only displays a couple of the descriptions. The rest just show up as real light shaded pins.

I've been doing this as well in google maps, although as kind of a personal park tracker. It's a fun easy way to track where you've been.
