Six Flags Enthuseast
Ok, so here are the photo's for my Knott's Berry Farm visit like I promised. P.S. William, if you tell me to post the "YOU'RE THE BEST RIDE OP EVER!!!" again, I won't try it again when I come back in a few weeks! (DISCLAIMERS: Note some of the photos look like they were taken on an old camera, like from the first trip reports on this entire site. Yeah, they look THAT old! This is just due to the 'low resolution' of the pictures when they're enlarged. Also, some of the photos appear 'mirrored.' This is because the Nintendo DSi's internal camera takes pictures in a way that makes them appear like that. So don't worry, I didn't go to some other dimension where the Earth is the exact opposite and mirrored, it's just a pic taken by the camera.) EDIT: Here are the videos we got of us on Sierra Sidewinder. Since I'm having trouble posting them to TPR, I'll just give you the YouTube links. Now to end part 1 of my update with a picture of me licking a plastic chicken! (Robb's jealous now!) Thanks for reading! Me showing off my TPR Hoodie and my empty tounge. Mom and dad said the chicken was just 'ok' and I couldn't agree more. I think they'll have to go better than Safeway if they want to keep business up. It looks like somebody punched me in the lip and it swelled up and became purple!! Ouch... PIE!!! And it's boysenberry! Heck yeah, baby! "Mozzerrela sticks!" 7 seconds later.... Is Xcelerator as good as Dragster? Mr. and Mrs. Knott. Famous people wall of fame thing. "Am I in here so you don't have to pay for an extra customer?" Waiting to get it to the chicken dinner place. Pie!!! BOYSENBERRY PIE!!! GIMMIE!!! I'm getting tired.... Like, REALLY tired! Themed trash cans! Some snake action going on over here. It's a nice looking sign. Isn't it? More diarreah? Dang it, not right before I eat! Heading to the Chicken place to get lunch. Mmm.... Kettle Corn. The station, both trains, and a purple bench. You have a problem with that? You can never have too much Utah! Now Julie's working! Back to the S&S action with limited thumb interruption! Now, that right there just took a huge crap over everything in this entire park! ...... ...... ........ ......... ........ ........ Now, just observe the following pictures.... Here's where things get interesting... We're now at the boardwalk! Yup, Jane is very hard working! Supreme Scream is presented to you by Julie and Jane, the dark blue and aqua S&S vehicles! Silver Bullet again. You can see it from almost anywhere in the park! Just in case you don't know what ride Bob works for. Thank's Bob! You're pretty cool! "Don't mention it. Just remember, step in my way, and you're really screwed!" "Get in my way, and it's 0-afterlife in 3 seconds!" Hey! It's American Bob! Hi Bob! "Don't worry, I'm harmless! I can't do anything bad... or can I?" Hmm..... Up the back spike (pushes you into your seat if you're in the back like me!). (MONTE)ZOOM(A)!!! Can you read it? I thought I could when I was there, need to bring my better camera and take a close up next time. Floor shot! Because of the gently ascending line path, you can get 'interesting' shots like this. The Peanuts Camping show thing. What's next, you say? Well, none other than Diarreah: The Ride! (I tried a spellcheck, it didn't work...) heheheheheheheheheh..... Mom looks funny... heheheh.... POV footage. We're trying to spin the car like a no-wheel tilt-a-whirl: shoving our weight around. It didn't really work... Now the trains look less funny. Barely. For those who couldn't see the 4 coasters in the shot where I asked you, here's an angle that's a bit easier to see them from. Those trains REALLY look funny from this angle! Right there is one of the most intense moments in the entire park! Man, I can remember it now! mmm...... 5g German goodness! Support/light shot. Nerdy spinning-mechanics shot! It's pretty intense right there. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttsssssssss Monte!!!! Jaguar!, Silver Bullet, and Monte just kept cycling trains. Ughhh... "I'm a-sitting on the trash can. Hey, who're you lookin' at?" What did I say about the Silver Bullet coincidences again? Or was I purposely doing that? (cue dramatic music) Jaguar!'s train. And a small view of the top of one of the brake devices. There's the train. Wait, there's Silver Bullet's train too! I get many SB coincidences in this TR, this is the 1st I guess. Except for the father-son moment, nothing has changed.... yet.... I see 4 coasters in this photo. Count them, if you please. (And yes, we are waiting for Sierra Sidewinder.) NOTED! Meh.... I'll find something better. (Sidenote: I forgot I had the hat on and I just strolled out of the store wearing it casually, like I had bought it. Thankfully, I rememberd that I had not purchased it, and I returned it before anyone noticed..... I'm such a shoplifter!) Mirror enthusiasts rejoicing! What's next? "I approve of this kick-ass *CCI* wooden roller coaster!!!" (Changed from GCI to CCI) Traction wheel enthusiast shot! I can't forget you, brake caliper nerds! Don't worry, I've got a nerd shot for EVERYBODY!!! (Me) "Was it fun?" (Front row) "Yes!" (Me) "Was it rough?" (Back row) "Yes!!" I wonder if those poor little girls were forced to go on that thing by big fat ACEr's that couldn't fit on it.... They'd just say that they went on it, they'd use the girls as dummies to 'make the credit count.' Some freakish ailien guy is in there plotting on how to make the ride go faster! Or is it just a funny looking ride op? Meh, I don't know, and I honestly don't care. Yup, front's where I'm going. The next train leaves the station. Looks like the orange one... or is it red? Knott's did a great job putting foliage around the ride, you get really close to it in the beginning! Yeah, it's not THAT bad! Stupid general public making such a big deal of it.... It's fun, just not as good as everyone says it is. Now.... Here it is.... Are you ready? However, very quickly, I'm forced to wait for my parents to go to the bathroom. You know parents..... We're in! First credit, here we come!...... This is just one of the many shops that line the walk from the parking lot to the entrance. Hmm..... Yet another Ceder Fair park that has a whole crap load of trash cans! So we FINALLY get parked, and a nice old Ghostrider train decides to be our first welcoming committee! For all 'ya brake fin nerds! For those who don't know the general layout of Xcelerator... Ovah da topp!! Z00M! Perilous Plunge and a few tall palm trees. By now, I'm really exited for my first park since Fright Fest at Wild Waves. every ride over 30ft tall is visible from the roads that surround the park! So, I'll begin the wonderful day of April 19th, 2009 with a package of new Halls Bursts! Now, just some randomness that happend in the Sea Tac Airport.... I was walking with my mom from the parking garage to the ticketing terminal, and when we were walking accross a skybridge, I found a package of contry gravy. Unopened. Nothing really wrong with it. Just a little dusty. So if you lost a package of McCormic Country gravy at the Sea Tac Airport between April 15 and 16, too late, it's gone! holyblakbelt
Nice TR, but something in a way bugged be half way into the report. GhostRider is a CCI, not a GCI.
carolinacaniac
Gotta love the random things that you can find, such as that packet of gravy mix. I can't say I have ever seen anything like that in the many times that I have been to SeaTac. So all of those pictures were taken with a DS? That's pretty cool, I had no idea that they had cameras on them. The resolution isn't too bad! Looking forward to Part 2! -Gary T.
dino
(Me) "Was it fun?" (Front row) "Yes!" (Me) "Was it rough?" (Back row) "Yes!!" LOL, I love that conversation. Cool TR (added points for including lucario).

Six Flags Enthuseast
Thank you for all your comments so far. Oh, a few things I forgot to tell you. Every ride was open at Knott's when I went.... Except for one... what ride was it? I wonder........ Also, Xcelerator rolled back a few times that day.... how many times? You'll find out soon, 'cause here's part 2! I'll end Part 2 with this escape route to Utah, AKA Jahan's fantasy dreamworld (cougharrowmanufacturecough) ...and some random kid just won $5 looking for gold. ....Dad got some chocolate coated peanuts or almonds or something.... Mom got a carmel apple with pecans..... You are not Barber Pole Candy! You're just a whole bunch of ponchos that want to be bought! Stop hiding it! They just used that last box up, they're grabbing for another.... Somewhere on this board, a diabetic just grabbed a box of tissues... Hoodie comparison segment! "My first coaster was an Invert.... This really brings back memories!" Overall, a shot with everything a B&M nerd would love: Wheel coverings, complicated crap on the top, restraints, etc. Gate nerd shot! A lot of my shot's now are without clouds! Another woodie shot for those *CCI* nerds. Yet another Swiss ride is visable. Yes, 3 of the 4 major rides seen in this picture are made in Switzerland! I think. Am I right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwww!! And the train reaches the station... Either the speaker or mic quality was crap, or that guy in the black with the cowboy hat on was making weird noises like crackling and stuff into the mic! Yet another 'multi-coaster' shot. "So let's see... I see a lot of palm trees, an S&S Screamin' Swing, and a Zamperla Moto-Coaster. A nice lineup indeed!" FREAKIN' HUGE APE PRIZE THING!! The only other coaster where I've seen queue vending is waiting for Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. If they named it silver bullet, why didn't they just paint it that color? Or why didn't they rename it "Fiery Bullet" or something that matches the color? It's just a crap load of sexy red and orange twisted track! Uber-sexy! Like, really! And I 'think' I see where that bumpy section of track a few pictures up is coming from... No clouds in this shot! I can see some hair-in-your-facetime, though. Yet another themed trash can... Doesn't that piece of track look bent to you? I think it's just the camera... Yeah, it is. This shot looks *VERY VERY* familiar.... I wonder where I've seen this before. Mmmm.... Sexy! More themed trash cans, an old cart, and a support that looks like the position of a dog's legs when it's taking a crap! A very nice photo indeed..... More like "Normal sex or a trip into outer space?" Matrix or Mabillard? "Not only is it the biggest, it's the best themed kiddie coaster ever. Even with the cheap skulls and crap!" "The biggest kiddie coaster ever! So big, Jeff Johnson wouldn't dare ride it ever!" Vines crawling all over the ceiling= for the win! An uber-blurry picture of a nice hiding spot for KidTums! She'd fit perfectly in there.... just remember this next time you visit Knott's, Robb and Elissa. A couple of kids waiting in line noticed I had the DSi, and they all began spazzing out! "OMG! Is that the new DSi?" "Yes." "Cooooolll!!" At least the nice station themeing made made up for it.... "I'll tell you where we are; We're waiting for Jaguar!, and that was just come crappy queue themeing! No really guys? Come on...." Where could we be now? The caboose. For a nice day, you can choose to sit in the open-air car. To those who live in that big city in Colorado.... The Denver & Rio Grande Express blah train thing. It was just 'ok.' I've been on ones with CLEAN WINDOWS!!! Hello? And those were waayyyyyy better! The uber-plain Wipeout sign. Yes, it is a Vekoma. Vekoma isn't too bad, but their Boomerang model is overrated. Get better trains, and I'll ride it. Heck, Knott's should order all new tower cars from Intamin! The slightly cramped inside of the tower. It's still.... well, still.... A nice view, really. But please, if you work for Knott's and you're viewing this TR, suggest cleaning or replacing the windows of the Sky Cabin, please. We'd all appreciate it! Even better layout shot of Silver Bullet! Everyone loves a good layout shot, don't you? I can't tell what it is, really.... Yet another Intamin ride... CRAPP!!! Just missed it.... I was freaking out once I saw this: A train rolling back into the station! How many times did it rollback that day? Find out towards the end of this part! "I got a rock...." You can see the shadow of the tower in this one. Mmm.... More S&S, please. You can see most of Silver Bullet and Ghostrider, the *CCI* woodie. Sure it's a sexy looking coaster that'd be better with newer trains, but I'm just taking these pictures for those 'coaster porn' kind of guys... Like CreditCrazy said in his report, the windows need cleaning or replacement if necessary. Now it's back! That box with the red light looks like a bomb of some kind! Almost there..... Getting closer...... .... Slowly coming down... Wipeout was really wiped out! I hope it was just maintainance. Here's the answer to the ride that was closed.... Like, REALLY closed! Yeah, still a lil' twitchey from Xcelerator.... Stairs shot, as well as some supports for you Vekoma support enthusiasts. Soooooo many poor people breaking their necks! No thank you, even with Arrow trains. HOLY CRAP!!! OMG!! OMG!! OMFG!! AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN!!! PLEEEEZZZEEE?!?!?!?!? Meh, I need to relax. But really, Xcelerator is the standout of the park by far! It's worth visiting the park for it alone! If you have a history of: Pregnent... Sorry Elissa, no Intamin for you today! This ride is just drooling with exitement! The moniter isn't working.... no safety video today. Actually, the one in the back is working. No safety vid for the front riders! My favorite photo of the entire trip.... Just look at it.... Split second perfection..... I couldn't have taken that on my normal camera.... See? It starts out on the ground and slowly goes up.... The track slowly ascendes, as pointed out in this photo. Nerd shot for those brake fin enthusiasts. Everybody, young and old, big and small watches this thing accelerate to the speed of light in just 2.3 seconds! It's a rush just to watch! The fins on this thing are quite a lot quieter than the ones on Dragster. Like really quiet! The track really rumbles as the train goes by right there! If you want to sit in the front car, stay right. If you want to sit in the back 4, stay left. SPLIT SECOND LAUNCH!!!!! In line for Xcelerator. Holy CRAP!! That drop IS pretty steep. Screw this! I'm going to Perilous Plunge! More cobra rolla....... Through the cobra..... Dropping.... BOOMERANG ACTION SHOTS!!! Climbing.... Here's an example of a "mirrored" picture, for those who didn't notice. It isn't as "sounds like a jet" as it would've been in 2002. It's like, right there! The 'easy' version of the one on the Stratosphere in Las Vegas. More B&M cobra-rollage. Me on the bobsled at the park entrance shortly after lunch. (I had a REALLY REALLY hard time getting out of that thing!)

SuperMikeo
Looks like you had a great time! I don't think I was bothered by the fact that you accidentally called GR a GCI...I think I'm bothered that it ISN'T a GCI! Perhaps then it would still be enjoyable. Although...I recently rode it after the "rehab" and it is MUCH better than it was. Still rough, but the two worst parts have been smoothed over. It's still an illusion though, because you can literally feel the areas with new track, and deep down we all wanna say "re-track the whole mother fu**** ride!" After myself recently being there, I have to say, Knott's has definitely become my least favorite park in the country. Scratch that, the world. It's like someone took an industrial sized vacuum and sucked all the charm out of it. Oh yeah, they also painted Monte green, painted Boomerang purple, and they have a ride called Silver Bullet that is a horrific combination of yellow and red. And those DAMN headsets that the employees wear. W.T.F. I know plenty of the CF parks use 'em now, but Knott's seems to get the most annoying employees. There was a time when all the "older and wiser enthusiasts" would talk about the 3 K's. Knoebel's, Knott's and Kennywood. These days, Knott's doesn't belong on a list ANYWHERE close to those other parks. /rant.
Six Flags Enthuseast
^A lot of people I've talked to say that Knott's charm has been reduced a lot since first becoming a "theme park." I can agree, it seems more like a modern day theme park, with a lot of pretty good rides, but crap themeing and poor management. Most of the staff was pretty nice, but it was very different compared to some other parks I've been to. Personally, I like it because of the coasters, but the themeing, some color color combos, and other factors make it just not fantastic. Slightly better management and the other stuff I just mentioned would make it really good, though.

SuperMikeo
^ - He knows. In fact, he poked fun at it on the second post of pics. ^^ - Yeah, to me Knott's is only so bad because it USED to be so awesome. I think that 1999 was the "year of Knott's." It still had most of it's charm, but Ghostrider was there (and brand spankin' new.) That coaster, oh God, when it opened, it just fit so perfect in the park. I used to stay on that thing during the weekdays - it never got old. I STILL think that the "original Ghostrider" is my favorite wooden coaster ever made. Hard to nail exactly when things went wrong, but I don't really seem to enjoy myself there anymore. By comparison, I LOVE SFMM, and it used to be completely opposite. If you would have told me ten years ago that I would hate Knott's and love SFMM, I would have told you that you were nuts. Turns out you weren't nuts at all! Sorry to use your TR as a vehicle to rant. I guess the dirty sky-tower windows did it for me.
the ghost
Cedar Fair literally turned Knotts' original charming aura and savagely raped it. How can a park with an authentic Ghostown and a giant intamin suck so much dick(kinzel that is) The funniest thing about the parks of California, however, is that SFMM used to have no charm and it is getting it back, while knotts used to have a lot of charm, and I wish I could say it was losing charm, but there is no denying the charm is gone. Sorry for the rant, this was a very entertaining, but somewhat "strange" tr. BTW Switzerland must be coaster heaven. I B&M and Intamin!
Six Flags Enthuseast
You guys thought it was over..... but I wouldn't ignore Pony Express! So here's Part 3! And I end my full update with a blurry picture of a ferris wheel in the parking lot of some mall on the way to our hotel.... And I decide to eat my sorrow away! So I go to In-N-Out..... OMG!! Uggh.... so close.... OH S**T!! Xcelerator is operating! Driving out and around the park, I watch it for the last time... Mmmm..... Intamin.... Goodbye Knott's Berry Farm! I'll see you in 3 weeks! It's actually a rare Aston Martin in just ok-ish condition, and I'm not joking! Go onto Gran Turismo 4 and look for it! It looks just like this! There's that church thing. What a nice place to put a church. Go to Sunday mass, then bust out and spend the rest of the day at KBF! Lot's of wood. "I'm undah da pakin' lot wooday!' Once again, another trains whooshes by.... More parking lot wooden roller coaster! Boysenberry seedless jam = For the win!!! Imposter iPod Shuffles. See how cheap Cedar Fair is? They won't sell real iPods, so they'll sell the cheap versions that look like iPods! Maybe a hot dot-BBQ hybrid? Mmmm.... that sounds delicious... HOT DOGS!!! Why doesn't Six Flags or Wild Waves do that to their spinning cup rides? That'd be pretty cool! Halloween small town fair setup thing. Kinda cute. A pretty big gift shop I might add... We decide to look inside the gift shop to see if we like anything. That's almost how I can describe my day.... If only Xcelerator was open.... "Don't forget me! Hey! HEY!!" There is a lot of green in this picture! I'm out the gate, and my day is over. Meh, pizza would be ok too. "Mmm...... some pasta would be good!" "My name's Lucario. Nice to meet you!" Yes, I know! On our way to get back to Ghostrider to get our photo. Some random arcade on our way out. "I know how much I weigh: only 7 ounces!" The cool Ghostrider entrance again... Whoa! That's a pretty reddish tree! One of these looks really familiar... After about 10 minutes of waiting, getting our picture from before, and more waiting, we decide that it'll take too long, and so we decide to leave the park. Hmmm....... what's that? ...... A couple of mechanics were there checking crap on the ride. Also, a few girls walked up and asked me what happened. See guys, this is where coaster nerdiness comes in handy. xD ......It's very quiet without you running, you know that? So, how many times did this awesome Intamin Rocket Coaster rollback today? The answer was 3. While I was on the tower, they were doing 3:15 testing (a bad time to do it because the ride would be pretty busy), and they did a rollback test. That's 1. The second occured a few minutes before I got on Pony Express, apparently. This one was not a test, it was a train with riders on it. The 3rd was the one I saw, a test to see if it was just a small problem with the ride. So KBF decided to shut the ride to inspect it, which REALLY pissed me off and saddened my mom and dad. =( Yup, no action in the Intamin corner... From about here, I saw Xcelerator rollback. I was all spazzing out because we were heading this way to ride it, but because of the rollback, I only got one ride. =( Ok William, really.... "Kick back on those black leg bars, kick back on those black leg bars, kick back on those black leg bars, kick back on those black leg bars, kick back on those black leg bars....." OMG!!! I WAS GOING TO SCREAM!!!! AHHH!!!! Most of the train.... notice anything about it? This piece of track slides over instead of a huge section. If you're a really nerdy transfer enthusiast, you've just bought about 23 boxes of tissues! Transfer nerds, I have not 1, not 2, but 3 shots for you! For your support-track-train nerds. Here it comes! Almost all of the train is in this shot. Whole lotta fence! Wheel shot. CLOSE UP HORSE SHOT!!!! Why would there be a gate behind a horse? Themeing or to keep people from falling into the track? These are the smoothest and quietest brakes in the entire park... Thank you, New Jersey! They have a "test" horse for you to see if you can fit. Yes, we have to wait in that huge line! With slow operations, it'd be almost an hour. It's a sign. No, really? Somebody (you know who you are!) said this, but just to point out: THERE IS NO ZERO-G ROLL!!! Some of the river for the rapids and some shrubbery. It speeds along the path to the queue and the rapid's queue. I can see it from here. Who can't?

Six Flags Enthuseast
^Well, I asked a park guy and he said at 3:15 Xcelerator would be going through some testing. After the rollback with people on it, a park official blocking the queue entrance said it was being inspected and the launch after it was a test to see if maintainence fixed the problem. That's all I know, though.... But either way, I'm pretty sure it was a test.
Goliath513
Pretty kick-ass trip report you have here. I think that 1999 was the "year of Knott's." Electerik
I think that 1999 was the "year of Knott's." It still had most of it's charm, but Ghostrider was there (and brand spankin' new.) I couldn't agree more. I worked there then, and it would still be my favorite park if it was still like that. /Not as biased as it sounds. Rollerman87
I was so blurry in that pic For Xcel, all I can say is be happy it's open again. It does a ton of rollbacks, but at least it runs consistantly. As a worked for Knott's now, of course I stick up for the park. I love that park. But I do see where you guys are coming from. They keep shoving the park with coasters, and putting in more trashcans. Also, a lot of us do like our jobs and try, but we are paid min. wage with no incentive to put in the extra effort, so people like me go the extra mile because we want to see the guests having fun
Guest
Didnt want to make a new topic for just a few pics, but I went to Knotts Tuesday to get some Xcel and strolled in around noon to see this: Good business today Ive seen dead parks before, but never seen NO ONE at a major theme park when its 75 degrees and sunny out in May. At about 12:05 I went on Silver Bullet and there was no one on it. Score The other train was completely taken apart. Rode Bullet, Xcelerator 9x, and was on with my day.
