I have been banned!

I still can't believe I'm the only one. LOL

I would rather have Pepsi. Pepsi in america is way nicer than here, so here I have coke. But I like Pepsi better. Someplaces, Coke has way to much fizz and when you burp, your nose feels strange.

So really I will drink coke if I have to.

One thing I find funny is that when you're in a place that serves Pepsi, and you ask for a Coke, they're often quick to say, "Is Pepsi OK?" like they have to remind you that Pepsi is served there.

When you go to a place that serves Coke and ask for a Pepsi, they just give you the Coke and don't say a thing.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but this has been my experience.

One thing Coke does have over Pepsi is bars won't serve mixed drinks with Pepsi. Maybe that's why I don't drink hard liquor.

The pub I used to manage serves Pepsi. We couldn't get a good enough deal with the Coke people. I have to say, though, I never once heard anyone try to order a mixed drink with Pepsi. It's always "rum and Coke," or whatever. Also, we never bothered to clarify that it was Pepsi, not Coke, unless it was ordered without alcohol.

So, if you ever need a stiff drink with Pepsi, head to Lynch's in Jax Beach.

Neither - dont like cola. Only cola Ill drink is Dr. Pepper.

Id rather have Gatorade, Powerade and if I must drink pop its Sprite, Sierra Mist, 7up, Mt. Dew (any flavor especially pitch black!).

Mostly green and clear pop...not sure why, just a trend.

^^ Nearly everywhere in CA serves Pepsi? If you're talking about fast food, you'll find Pepsi at:

  • KFC
  • Taco Bell
  • Pizza Hut
  • Knott's Berry Farm

And I'm sure others.

Meanwhile, you'll find Coke at:

  • McDonald's
  • Jack in the Box
  • Carl's Jr.
  • Burger King
  • Del Taco
  • Wendy's
  • In-N-Out Burger
  • Disneyland
  • SFMM

And I'm sure others, too.

Sounds like Coke is it in California.

^ And add Subway to that Coke list now that they've just switched from Pepsi to Coke. It is intersting how, outside the original "PepsiCo" fast food joints (Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and the defunct Hot N Now) not many major fast food chains serve Pepsi.

Maybe it wasn't the smartest idea to have a soft drink company own fast food chains because it meant that a non-PepsiCo fast food place would essentially be giving money to the competitor by having Pepsi products?

So random fast food history question:

In 1978, Bell sold his 868 Taco Bell restaurants to PepsiCo.

In October of 1997, PepsiCo spun-off KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell thereby forming Tricon Global Restaurants Inc., the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of system units.

In May of 2002, Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. acquired Long John Silver's and A&W Restaurants to accelerate the Company's multibranding strategy and drive global growth by offering consumers two brands and more choice in one restaurant. The Company changed its name to Yum! Brands, Inc. from Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., to reflect its expanding portfolio of brands and its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: YUM).

Is YUM http://www.yum.com/ still owned by Pepsi? Perhaps this is why we don't see Pepsi in that many fast food chains.

A few years WAY BACK, my (ex)partner ran a bar. I tell you, these soda companies are hell to deal with. It's very rare you'll see a venue that serves BOTH Coke and Pepsi, (They do exist, a couple of my favorite local restaurants have both!) because they both has stringent rules about selling their products at a good price. (This doesn't pertain to grocer outlets...)

Pepsi: Would give the bar a good deal if they had at least one small Pepsi refrigerator on display, (that you had to purchase) and they would also supply lighted signage. There was no other restriction on selling competitors products.

Coke: For a good deal, (better than Pepsi's) you could not sell Pepsi at all. If you sold Pepsi, you only got a "partial discount", as long as Pepsi displays were at least 10 feet away from anything with the coke label. (Including the fountain.) Break the rules, pay just below retail.

So you see, there may be more places serving coke, but coke has to play dirty to do it. (At least, this is how the bottlers were in PGH back in the early 90's)

^ While I'm sure they get a VERY good deal, I couldn't imagine any business who does that much volume giving the product away for "free"
