Jds03
So, today was frustrating and awesome at the same time. As you’ve probably seen in the other opening day trip reports, at just about any given time over half the rides in the park were closed, but on the other hand, there were tons of TPR members and people from other sites, so I still had a great time. So, remembering past openings of Gadv, I realized it may be a good idea to get there early so I can buy my season pass on time, which was a really good idea, since they were just as un-organized as ever. So I got there a full two hours before the gates opened, and I was forced to sit at the drop off area for about 25 minuets because the security wouldn’t let me go to the gates until they let parking through. So after that, I walked up to the gates, and tried to find where I could buy my pass. They moved the season pass processing to pervious VIP experience building, and there was a line building, but unfortunately I soon realized that everybody in line had an online voucher, and I needed to buy mine somewhere else, but none of the ticket gates were open. So I moved over to the brand new “self ticketing station” which only accepted credit cards, and I only had cash. Joy. Eventually, I saw a security guard come out with this old woman holding a duffle bag, which I realized was probably the cash for the registers. Luckily it was and I was first in line for the ticket window. It was sort of neat to see them put the wads of cash into the register and everything, but I was more eager to get my pass bought. After that, I had to wait in line for the pass processing…AGAIN. And because they now have three registering computers and two slow processing people, it took forever. Once I finally got it though, I got in line for the gates, which opened after about 5 minuets, making me very glad I got there so early since Six Flags management once again did not exceed my already low expectations! So even though there was still about twenty minuets until they let everybody out of main street, that allowed me to meet up with Gaven (coasterguy618) ,Jordan (Jfc1), and Mike(Mpr.). They knew me from when Gainsider was big, before it became GadvOutpost. When the security finally let the crowds enter the park, they were insisting on doing the walking method and not letting the crowds trample anyone on the way to the coasters. But being the sneaky butthole enthusiasts we are, we knew of the arcade shortcut to Toro and soon got there before anyone else. But, big surprise…IT WAS CLOSED!!! We waited for about 2 hours for it to open, but when it did Gaven and I got the back seat of the first train of Toro for 2009, since Jordan and Mike were in the front row. The drop was great as ever, but the rest was really slow, since the train had not been in use for a while and it had the wind working against it. But it was amassing none the less, and it felt so great to let the off season to be officially over. On another note, from the top of Toro you can see they are digging ditches in Medusa’s (Bizzaro)’s Helix after the MCBR. I have off ride pictures later. So after that, we spent the rest of the day riding what we could, or just screwing around in LoonyToons Seaport. I saw a bunch of TPR members, I remember seeing Matt (Speeddeamon128) and a bunch of other people around the entrance to the Golden Kingdom, and I saw Big Mike around Bizzaro but didn’t get a chance to say hi. I also saw a group with TPR hoodies at Rolling Thunder, but I didn’t recognize any of them. But anyway, enough of the Talking part of the TR. Nobody every reads that. On to the pictures! Shot in HD! Now you can live my PTRs in their fullest quality thanks to my amazing HD camcorder! Video coming soon. The whole park was at one flag today. More to come... Mr. Six smells like latex. Never before has this angle been captured. In HD that is!!! Random Toro Picture. In HD!!! It's still there, they just put a bunch of bushes in front of it. I didn't even notice they closed Tango when I ran to Toro. This is going to be cool when it opens. No flags, no rides, no fun. This is the brand spankin' new self service ticket thing. It only accepted credit cards, which meant it was extremely helpful to me. Also, one of the signature pads already has a huge crack though it. I was surprised at how many people already had Bizzaro shirts. If you look close, you can see that two maintenance workers are sharing a special moment on Toro. Kingda Ka launched less that a minuet after this picture was shot, and that was the only time it ran all day. This is the entrance. This is also the greatest caption ever. This was breakfast. Yes!!! The off season has only one mile remaining!
Jds03
Now it's time for... Bizzaro Update! All shots are legal, BTW. Hahahah, it's a pun, get it? Two out of six faces??? This must be busted too!!! All this breakage makes me want to post some flam on the internet. GRRRRR!!!!! I was surprised that the stuffed animals weren’t having mechanical difficulties. Even the Dark Kight theming wasn't working! A FOOTER!!! This only further proves my theory that an Intamin Mega coaster is coming! Its so big, it stretches from one end of the park to another! What is this building for? B&M sexy curvage. This picture could only be more awesome if there were a train in it. How did Gaven get wet? You decide.. I flimed eveyone on Saw Mill because I didn't want to get my camera wet. Dirt! The whole Bizzaro thing is all a cover-up for the world's largest Intamin mega coaster!!! Bizzaro: Previously sponsored by Corn nuts, Danmials Yogurt, and Hentz Ketchup is now sponsored by John Deere. You can't see it from the ground, but the ditches are at least 5 feet deep and have reinforcement bars in them. This is the ditch I was talking about. You can see it from Toro Sweet curves. Money shot. Random lack of pathway. Panorama. Thanks for reading! Awesome picture. Bye bye Cream Machine! It's time to leave, Good bye Superman! This was shot from BTR’s station around 7:00PM. Its for anyone who doesn’t want to believe that Nitro vallied. This picture turned out perfect! ummm.... EPIC FAIL. After that we had a contest to see who could spin the fastest on the teacups! I have that on video too! You get to be the judge! After riding about 10 times (which counts as 20 since it goes around twice), Jordan and Mike got stuck in the front seat, and they had to call maintenance to get them out. But since the rest of the train still worked, kids still rode it, meaning Jordan and Mike had to keep going around until they fixed it. I caught the whole thing on video. Gaven had to ride with the bar between his legs. ouch. This turn was leathal. Now is when we started to screw around. I told everyone that I don’t have a Road Runner Rally credit whore credit, even though this is my home park, so we decided to go ride it, but then since it was one out of about 5 operating coaster we decided to start a marathon! This is the scariest part of Skull Mountain. Exiting into Wiggles World. "Im sooooo tired of people jumping in my cage" If you can’t figure it out, it’s probably not a good idea to climb into a tiger cage!!! You got that right! Gasm, Looking very orGASMic. Is this even an inversion? Twister's sign now pops out. ZOMG!!!! This is the only legal picture of the Dark Knight you can get besides a picture of a massive blue box. Zero One
I guess what he doesn't realize is that pretty much all digital cameras take pictures MUCH better than "HD". HD is just the minimum number of pixels in a single frame of film (counted vertically, I believe). 720 is the minimum pixel count and is what you get in televisions (some go up to 1080). Its a big deal in televisions and video because it is a lot higher resolution than you could get before. However, digital cameras can take MUCH better pictures than any HD Camcorder. For instance, this low end Canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=2571&modelid=17474#ModelTechSpecsAct Can take pictures up to a resolution of 3,648 x 2,736 pixels. Good ones can do even more pixels. 2,736 vs. 720. So his camcorder may take impressive VIDEO and these shots are much better than any standard resolution video camera still shots, but the still photos are just sub par when comparing to a real still camera. It's all moot anyway, though. Since he compressed the photos as JPGs and scaled them down to about 780 x 580 to put them here.
Satchboogie3
Nice TR! I was there as well, I think I was one of the guys in the TPR hoodies at Rolling Thunder. I saw you guys waiting in the front of the line for El Toro when the park opened. I was doing the same, but left after 20 minutes or so to go to... The Dark Knight, which conveniently broke down when I got into the station... so back to El Toro I went to wait. All in all, I thought it was a pretty weak opening day, but all the great TPR people made it worth the trip (6 hours from NH).
coasterguy618
Riding the log flume in 50 degree wether was a terrible idea on our part. I was so soaked for an hour, and my legs were tingling from the cold! The picture of the tiger sleeping made me laugh. Good shot and great pictures. I had a great day. CHILLERLC1
I think it was mostly the high winds. With the two extra top billing coasters open: NITRO and Kingda Ka, there would be a whole lot less complaining about the smaller rides that were not open. I met a TPR-er at Rolling Thunder and we saw each other at El Toro. I think that's the Sahara Sam guy.
Speeddeamon128
Awesome TR! I said hi to you I think while walking out of the Golden Kingdom to go ride GASM. To bad Nitro valleyed. I had a feeling Kindga Ka wasn't going to open & wasn't surprised. I'm hopefully going back on Friday so Nitro & Kingda Ka better be open.
Jcoaster
I went to the park today. It was great the park was dead. I rode B:TR twice in the front without getting up. The only downside was that Nitro was still closed. It may be closed for 5 days according to park employees.

Yeah, I remember you said Hi to us when we were walking in the Golden Kingdom. And I'll probably be there Friday, I'm pretty sure they'll be done with Nitro by then. jcf1
Great TR. Despite Kingda Ka and Nitro being closed it was pretty entertaining. I went back today and Nitro has all three trains back in its shed. Note to self, dont ask to be stapled on Road Runner Railway ever again! Great Day with all of you.

It is pretty entertaining.
jbarner14
They let your friend ride Road Runner Rally like that? I tried doing that yesterday on the Great Chase at Six Flags America but wasn't allowed. I had to squeeze my knees under the lap bar on one side. However, because I was sitting like that the lap bar could not go down enough to latch, resulting in a missed credit. It was very disappointing. Yeah, I coudln't of ridden the normal way, my knees would not fit under. I'm too tall. But I'm guessing since it was opening day and there were new ops so they probably did not know what they were doing.

Nitro will be my main reason for going on Friday. I hope the weather is nice so I can also ride Kingda Ka.
