Absimilliard
I'm in Japan right now, having a great time and I went to Toshimaen today. I was shocked when I noticed Shuttle Loop was missing. The station, entrance and exit ramps and the concrete ramp the ride ran on are still there. The ride itself is gone!
Mochtroid
SAd to see a shuttle loop gone. The one at SFKK looks intimidating even now. I'm hoping a company revives it.
SharkTums
Aww, that means two shuttle loops gone this year!?!? And worse yet, two that had interesting 'loops'...grrr. Somewhere, Shane is crying.
Loefet
That's just sad, it's such a shame that another classic have been scrapped By the way, do you have any images on the new coaster at Toshimaen?
gisco
What a bummer. I remember losing change on that ride.
robbalvey
I only rode this coaster once back in 2004 and unfortunatley didn't get that much footage of it. I didn't even manage to get a complete POV (camera shut off during the ride), but here is what I have at least.... Personally I didn't find it quite as intense as the other flywheel shuttles. They did brake it coming back through the station, which I thought was odd. (but then again so did Walibi Belgium) Still, it's a Schwarzkopf shuttle that means it was fun! Enjoy! Nrthwnd
That's too bad. We were really hoping it'd be open when several of us went to Toshimaen on our last morning of the TPR Japan tour, in 2007. But it wasn't, unfortunately. Oh well. "Another one bites the dust."
QueerRudie
I bow my head at this news. The loss of any of Schwartzkopf's greatness is a sad and truly lamentable day. As a -very- devout Schwartzkopf Entusiast, I can only hope that we do not lose any more of these great rides. There are so few of them left intact, and to see another one disappear is rather sad. (Perhaps I should start a "Save our Schwartzkopf" campaign?!?!?!
tanthonyam
What was that structure around the loop for?
robbalvey
^ Apparently it was put there to block out noise. Much like the shields that are found on California Screamin' --Robb
BC
No No Nooooooooooooo!!! This was my favourite out of the 5 different Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops I have tried. Back in 2000 when I first tried it, it was running to perfection! No braking on the return through the station and even a water feature during launch. I truly am sad hearing this... MichaelD
What a small world - we were at Toshimaen on Saturday, the day before you. For what it's worth, the (Google translated) Toshimaen web site basically says that the ride was closed due to excessive maintenance or repair costs - the reason for closure is not 100% clear but it is clearly gone for good. The new Mini Cyclone kiddie coaster at Toshimaen is...well...a kiddie coaster. Bright red. Limited theming (think theming like the car park coaster at SFMM). Long wait in line for credit whoring purposes only. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take pictures of it.
sfmmrules!
One more of those classic shuttle loopers gone. I can't believe it! Oh no I hope Montezooma's is not next!!! Be very thankful we still have Montezooma's & Greezed Lightnin both running.
montezooma
NNNNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Someone please tell me this is an April fools joke that is a little late.
montezooma
I have now failed three times in my quest to ride the world's Schwarzkopf shuttle loop coasters. 1. Back in the 80's I went to ride White Lightnin' at Carowinds, unfortunately I went on a Friday...nuff said 2. I travelled all the way to the Jersey shore to ride the King Kobra at Jolley Rogers (or whatever that place is called) I arrived to find a bucket of bolts that looked like it had not run in months (fortunately I was able to walk all over and under that thing...almost just as cool as being able to ride it) 3. And last year on my TPR trip to Japan I scheduled an extra day so I could travel to Toshimaen and get this credit...as luck would have it it was closed...and well you know how this story ends Hopefull I will have better luck as my World trek continues...Next stop Africa & Brazil Here is a tribute to its last days one last farewell to Toshimaen's Shuttle Loop ... RIP you can see the close neighbors in the distance that were not fans of the noise of this ride another view of the station with the Corkscrew in the background. Hey is this Knott's? footer porn On overview of the entire ride. The trains are still on the track a look at the station and ride in the distance Sorry this attraction not operating today...or something like that in Japanese the station I was SO close yet SO far the partically enclosed loop it sits silent launch area oh, the beauty of an erect schwarzkopf shuttle it was closed all season but still managed to make it onto their banners
robbalvey
The interesting thing about this picture: It looks like the train is there. When we were there in 2007 I was pretty sure the train was GONE. So perhaps they may have gotten it back up and running then sold it? Not sure. Speaking of closed Japanese shuttle loops, anyone know what ever happened to the one at Yokohama Dreamland: --Robb

If so then all is not lost, maybe I can ride it at the new location. The trains were definitely on the track when I was there. I believe the Dreamland shuttle was junked...sold for scrap
DenDen
Nice pictures. All I could think of is in the 80's, Kennywood had a very similar ride line up. (Laser Loop, Swing Around, Wave Swinger, Pirate, etc...)

Nosferatu
This is too bad. By my count it is only 5 Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loops still operating! For anyone interested, I've made a map of Schwarzkopf coasters still in operation (except for wilcats, jumbo jets etc..) http://tinyurl.com/qqld9p The list is really starting to grow short:( Hopefully some of those who have been closed the last few years will find a new home!
