cfc
After looking at the concept art more closely, I agree that this will probably be the updated version of the Star Tours simulator. It'll be interesting to watch the development of this ride.
Wes
Hope they have the multiple ride scenarios if it is indeed like Star Tours. Maybe the different bits can feature different Avengers cameos?
SharkTums
^As long as they include the now standard Disney ending of getting shot in the face!
better_by_design
Re-skinning Star Tours isn't exactly super-ambitious, but it is a ride system HKDL is lacking, and at least shows some theme creativity, so alright... also glad this will help balance the park out geographically (at least a bit) and be an indoor "experience". Is it just me, or do the baddies in the concept art look a bit Ultron-ish? Possibly tied to the second Avengers movie?
Rollercoaster Rider
Hopefully this will be the kick-in-the-pants the park needs. Disneyland Paris could also probably use some Marvel attractions from what I've heard.
SoCalCoasters
^ Maybe it's just me but they look more like Chitauri war machines than anything else. It definitely seems like they're going with more of a comic book styling.
gisco
Three years away seems like a lot of time for a reskinned Star Tours ride. Hoping it is more then that.
milst1
I think we'll be going to HK before this gets built, so another park goes on "the list of having to go back there". I love my Iron Man (my fave superhero since forever) and I'm psyched about any ride so-themed. Good for the park and for the theme park enthusiast, whatever it is. Speaking of Disney simulators, I can't remember if StormRider at DisneySea has an entire moving theater, or if just the individual seats move. Any chance that Iron Man could be a StormRider type of simulator rather than a Star Tours type? Isn't $100+ million a crazy price tag for a new skin on an existing proven ride system? Or maybe all of the new content and theming alone justifies the pricetag. Should be pretty cool in any case. Hope everyone is doing well.
cfc
^Still worth it for Grizzly Mountain (and I assume Mystic Manor).
Wes
There's not enough known about the ride to know whether it's just a "reskin" of Star Tours. I'd wait until there's more details.

Garet
Hope they have the multiple ride scenarios if it is indeed like Star Tours. Maybe the different bits can feature different Avengers cameos? Since the ride is going to be set in Hong Kong, where will the final scene take place? I don't think they have many shawarma restaurants in Hong Kong. gerstlaueringvar
Does the price tag including buying land in Hong Kong? It could change from a well themed duelling Intamin Giga to a Vekoma.
TPDave
Even if it is "just" a simulator, with $100m I'm sure they can turn out something pretty awesome
805Andrew
This sounds like a great addition for HKD. Hopefully The Iron Man Experience is just a working title and they will come up with a better name. This got me thinking, they could change the Innoventions at California's Disneyland to a Stark Expo. Even if they can't fit a full ride, a Stark Expo would be better than the current Innoventions. DATman
50 million of the budget is probably Robert Downey Jr's fee. In all seriousness though, it looks awesome! Everyone was, and still is, over the moon about the new version of Star Tours. It was a huge win for the company and so even if this is based on a similar idea, I think we can all expect the execution to be stellar!
Jew
Personally, the new version of Star Tours did nothing for me. The 3D wasn't anything amazing, and unless you are a Star Wars/Disney geek, you wouldn't even know there is so many possibilities. I'll be disappointed if this turns out to be another Star Tours 2.0, especially given all the unique things HKDL has gotten recently.
Nrthwnd
^ Well, I hope they won't take Iron Man into Star Wars territory. From the description, this reads like it's going to be more "city" located, and it could go underground as well. And if it does go into outer space, it'll still be a totally different "space-scape" created, I would hope. And the ride vehicles look like they could have cooler darker colours and outside and in. I also finally saw a new ST.2 version at Tokyo Disney. And I am an old geek on this one. I missed the ice caves. And that great near miss landing. I don't care about multiple flights. The original was the one you remembered going back for, again and again. This version has now become a "credit count" as to "how many tours" have you done, blah blah. ahhculdee
Wakanda Jungle for Animal Kingdom! This seriously looks like it will be quite the attraction here.

I haven't been on the new Star Tours but I was under the impression that your opinion was kind of the consensus. I don't recall reading any sort of praise for the new version other than in this Hong Kong Iron Man thread! I'm sure this will a cool attraction but, yeah the Star Tours ride system doesn't do anything for me either.
Wes
^ I really like the new Star Tours, it's just really fun. The Hoth/Naboo combination is amazing.
Jew
^I have no idea what that means (having only seen the original trio of Star Wars films a few times each), so I think that has a lot to do with why I wasn't blown away. I don't think they used the 3D as well as they could have either, which is why I am hoping this is something new/better than another Star Tours 2.0. It would be a shame if the Marvel ride introduced nearly 20 years prior to when this one will open will have a more technically advanced ride system. That's an interesting point. I'd prefer some sort of trackless ride system with a good mix of physical effects and projections.
SoCalCoasters
There's an interesting rumor going around that the reason the budget for the ride is only 100 million is because the ride vehicles for the attraction are actually the ATLAS motion bases that were used for Body Wars in the Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot. This actually makes a lot of sense, as they've had those motion bases sitting there for quite a while without any usage. With a quick rehab done by Intamin or some other company, I'm sure they could have them put into the Iron Man Experience to save on ride system costs so they could focus on developing the ride's story and theming.
