disneyfan1313
Half way between Tampa and Orlando there is a little bit of redneck heaven called Plant City. This area is one of the largest producers of Strawberries in the country so they have the Strawberry festival each year where they have some pretty major concerts, normal fair stuff and loads of things involving strawberries. It is a lot of fun, although a bit scary if you don't own a John Deere hat! Anyways.. on to the photos! They have large concerts every night - the night we were there was Kelly Pickler! Needless to say we didn't stay... I've seen some wacked out midway food before...but WTF?!?!? There are also some old-tyme exhibits like this heavy metal dude! Stacey is getting her redneck on! They have chocolate covered strawberries, frozen strawberries and even my favorite.. dirt berries! New for this year... the strawberry farm exhibit! It teaches you all about the different kinds of berries.. These are the worlds largest strawberries - you can even ride in them! Kinda sticky though... OMG! Its like heaven! There are tons of different groups selling strawberry shortcakes all around the festival. We go for the one that does make your own.. Look at the scary woman on the left... NO! Not Stacey!!! It actually has a permanent entrance that they built a few years ago... Admission is only 10 bucks! Uh - isn't that illegal?!?! There are tons of roadside stands all around the fairgrounds selling really cheap strawberries. You could never eat an entire flat before they go bad...we made the mistake of trying one year. larrygator
Reed - My college roommate was from Plant City and tried to bring me to the Strawberry festival. I never went.
RCTfan
Ooooh, it is nice to see some photos of the Strawberry Festival. I'm going to try to head there sometime this week during my off time. I heart strawberries. I heard about the stand that lets you make your own shortcake. Yes please.
disneyfan1313
More photos?!!?? Sure! This alone is worth the 45 minute drive and scary rednecks.. yum! The real reason we are here - make your own strawberry shortcake! Reason # 194 why you know you are at a redneck fair - the baking contest features a camo hummer cake! Fried Pepsi?!!? When science has gone wrong! LOG ROLLING AGAINST A DOG?!?! They have gone too far!!!! It did include log rolling on a fake log in a kiddie pool! They also had a "lumberjack" competition which was really just redneck olympics. Heck - they were from kissimee! Racing and Swimming pigs? We got em! This guy was flipping fudge all over the place! They actually have a very good midway at this fair - but almost no wristband specials Obligatory coaster photo! Two cocks at a time!?!? Woah! Thats a big cock! It is BUNNYZILLA! It's dinner time boys! Look Pa! I can shoot me a moo-cow! Is that woman sleeping?!?! AHHHH!!! SCARY LIVESTOCK TIME!! You know its a "Baked" potato when he has a gold tooth! the ghost
That was seriously the most hilarious TR I have ever read. Also, did you see anyone have deep fried pepsi? or is that a misleading sign? Also, please tell me you saw no one eating chocolate dipped bacon. The I WANT SOME HUMMER CAKE Ghost

spaceace12
They are just a bag of Frito chips with taco meat, cheese, lettuce, and whatever else you put in tacos.
mcjaco
This is common for the midwest Not sure about common, but...... To describe it better, it's Doritos or Fritos, or cornchips, thrown into a bag with cheese, lettuce tomatoes, and taco meat, etc. It should really be called nachos in a bag. BeemerBoy
This report was hilarious. We've got plenty of redneck shenanigans up here, now why can't we have a strawberry festival too?
cfc
Holiday World and Indiana Beach refer to them as "Walking Tacos." My god, do you realize the implications of this? If tacos could walk and were as big Great Danes, they'd wipe us out within a month! With jogging chili rellenos as their allies, there'll be no stopping them! AllenA07
I'm sitting here right now, and I just can't figure out, how do you deep fry Pepsi. Wouldn't that just be drinking Pepsi flavored oil? Do you fry it in the bottle? I would imagine that the heat would cause the thing to explode. I'm perplexed by this, so if anybody could shed some light on it for me, that would be great. RCoasterny
Holiday World and Indiana Beach refer to them as "Walking Tacos." Knoebels has been selling them for quite some time, called "Travelin' Tacos" at the Roaring Creek Saloon.

slither37
Great TR, here in Ohio there is a festival for everything, zucchini (Obetz, way way redneck) popcorn(Marion) bratwurst(Bucyrus) pumpkin (Circleville) apples (Jackson) tomatoes (Reynoldsburg). Nothing tops the redneck meter like the Obetz zucchini festival. Jeff Foxworthy comes to it for material. Now, as much as I love bacon, I really do, I think I would have to pass on the chocolate dipt bacon. Maybe I could order sans chocolate?
