I would love to see the behind the scenes operations of this place during a normal operating day. I really dig the technical side of things. Â Good luck Shane! montezooma
Thanks everyone for your well wishes. The opening was hectic as they usually are in the amusement industry. But overall things went quite well. Â The park looked great and our employees are the best. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with us. It is never fun to open a waterpark in rainy weather. Hopefully the sun comes out soon! Â More later
montezooma
Cowabunga Bay Opening Day...the pictures tell the story. Â Note to self: Never open waterpark in lightning and hail storm. Sunshine, lollipops and Rainbows Well the good news is, we sold a lot of season passes still, people braved the weather for the AWESOME new waterpark the surf Gods were NOT pleased It's like rain...on your wedding day

traincrossin
Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you had bad weather. I hope everything goes alright in the future! The waterpark looks great btw!
ghost007jas
No opening day is perfect, just look at Disneyland! Â It's great to hear that you were able to sell plenty of season passes, hopefully good word of mouth will bring people when the weather improves! netdvn
Is it just me or is it miserable all over the country? Â But seriously, I'm glad you were able to sell a lot of season passes on opening and let's hope the weather clears up soon over there (and over here). Â PS: Are you distributing brochures/maps for Cowabunga Bay? I would really like to know.
coaster1000
Too bad with the weather. Seriously, that sucked. Â But the park looks great!
Airtime&Gravity
Sorry the weather was bad, but then as has been said before, all opening days have their problems. At least you sold a lot of season passes, which should mean a lot of non-season pass holders visiting. So your park should be really popular, and it looks great. Twister II
Looks awesome! Now just come build one down here in Vegas! There aren't any water parks here at all besides a slide at a community pool. It's torture in the summer! Â Also, are the plans for the ProBowl going in? Â I have always dreamed about one day being able to work with a waterslide company and open my own waterpark! I'd love to find a way to get my foot in the door...
montezooma
Here is a news story on our stormy opening...  http://www.abc4.com/content/news/slc/story/Continuous-rain-hurts-some-Salt-Lake-businesses/rm6-13ZuMU2Sy23C2nZarA.cspx  I have no idea who Wayne Johnson is???? Gav
I laughed at 1:30 when they showed a couple of kids running around excitedly, and then cut to a no running sign.
traincrossin
How did day 2 go? Was it any better? Â Wayne Johnson is the Salt Lake County Park Operations Director. I think they got your names mixed up in the artivle. At least some news coverage is better than none.
COASTER FREAK 11
^"We were greeted with thunderstorms on Saturday and hail the size of rock salt on Sunday" - Shane (From his interview) Â But, how have the past few days gone now? Â Also, Shane, I really like the web site. The only thing its missing is a park map! lol.
traincrossin
^Whoops, missed that. I would like a park map as well to add to my miniscule collection!
