Hey guys, I will be filming the next round with a certain reality show in the next few weeks and I want some opinions. (It's not American Idol)

So I want to know if you guys think as potential TV viewers that you guys would consider voting for me based on what you see here.

It's me performing Elton John's Your Song.

Thanks alot!

You definitely have talent man. Good luck and maybe you should have tried out on American Idol!

Thanks soo much guys! I actually have tried out for American Idol three times thus far. I've been rejected every time by the producers because they'd rather let someone who is bad see the judges to piss Simon off as opposed to letting me audition for the judges.

I'm going to post another song by the end of the day to see what you guys think of it.

...so is the German version of "American Idol".

You see real talents in the first Castings, but they get rejected because the Show´s producers love to take those untalented people they can form and coach the way they want them to have. In todays charts, most of the pop-songs sound the same because the charts are ruled by the Music-Industry, not by real Artists , there isn´t that variation anymore that was still up to the late 80´s, it´s just cloned and covered stuff, digitally remastered and remixed by the computer.

You're quite good, I don't think Elton John suits your vocal style well though. Try something like No Air from Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.

Your vibrato is very thick, it'd sound better if you lessened your fluctuation in your vibrato, you also do sound like you're stressing to hit the higher notes- there's an easy fix for it. Don't try to impress! Sing what you can- because it's when you try to achieve something that you can reach but you have trouble doing so it can make you look bad when you're actually very good.

Rather than trying to impress with a big song- impress with doing what you can very well.

I agree with many others that have posted that you do have talent. Now, don't take this the wrong way, but I couldn't help but notice that you either got some of the words wrong, or they just didn't come out clearly to me. It also did seem like you were straining a bit in certain parts of the song. Don't let that bother you though. You do have talent. It just seems to me that it needs some more development. Keep working at it and you'll do fine.

Wow, this is great. I'm glad to get some real advice. I agree that my vibrato is very thick. It's probably because I'm trained in Opera and in Classical. I also have alot of experience in musical theatre. It's only been recently that I have started really studying pop.

To Mechanic: Which words do you think I struggle on?

I don't think I'm straining on the high notes, I'm just showing that I can belt cause that song's upper notes are toward the middle of my range.

It is good to know that it sounds like that however so I can fix it.

Keep it coming guys and thanks again for the opinions, they are really helping me. I wish I could tell you guys what show I'm a contestant on, but I don't want to be disqualified. Especially after making it as far as I have.

To Mechanic: Which words do you think I struggle on?

On the line, "Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean..." it sounds like you sing the word "Anyway" as "Anyways". "Anyways" isn't a proper English word so it makes it sound a bit off.

Additionally, on the line, "How wonderful life is while you're in the world." it sounds like you sing the word "now" in place of the word "while".

Again, please just take this as a minor critique. My overall impression was that you were pretty good, with a strong finish to the song. It's just that I'm very detail oriented and some of the words sounding a little off did catch my attention. I do hope you continue to develop your talent and wish you the best of luck.

But besides that what do you think would be good for my voice?

I'm the last person you'd want voice advice from, but even with my inexperienced ears I can tell you that those who can give you good advice on this site need you to record something in a deadened space.

The reverb in your video coming from your voice bouncing off of all the hard surfaces, (the walls, the floors, and the ceiling) can distort how your voice sounds in the microphone.

Try recording in a room designed for music, if you don't have access to such a space find a smaller room and try to cover ever hard surface with thick blankets or clothing. Also, if you don't already, play back your sound files once you've recorded them and watch the peak meter. Anything in the red might be distorted.
