^Agreed! CP needs to stop discriminating against fat coasters.

Why does CP hate fat coasters?

Have you SEEN the coasters that CP recently built? They're as skinny as rails!!

So... Were not seeing this in a themepark anytime soon?

You've just got to wait for an announcement. Nobody knows (except the park that's recieving the coaster and B&M). The coaster could go anywhere, even CP, but its just speculation right now.

You know how Dominator was placed in the parking lot, but they actually ripped up the lot and placed soil and grass. Well I remember a while back seeing markings in the Cedar Point Employee Parking Lot. LOTS OF THEM. I think this is going to Cedar Point. There is a lot of space behind Disastor Transport and the tower that they could easily turn into a Floorless Coaster. However, the only thing that gets me, is that Cedar Point usually breaks a record with a new coaster and I don't see how this would break any. Unless its the Dimensional Coaster from B&M or has a splash down on a floorless coaster......

What B&M dimensional coaster? Are B&M coasters able to transcend dimensions now?

Also, SheiKra, Griffon, Dive Coaster, and that new Happy Valley DM have splashdowns and are floorless coasters.

^^I read his comment to mean that Maverick is not a big record-breaking ride, thus breaking the "tradition" CP is known for.

^B&M's alleged new coaster style. There's been quite a bit of speculation on it in this thread.

If it goes to CP, it will obviously have to feature a 100-degree drop or greater. It will keep with their angle of descent trend that way:

Raptor < Mantis < Millennium < Wicked Twister = TTD < Maverick < New ride.

^ Yeah, that's probably what he meant, lol.

I don't know, I just don't see Cedar Point getting a B&M unless it's a dive machine, and this isn't dive machine track. That new prototype is a possibility, but I just don't see it going to Cedar Point unless it's something groundbreakingly awesome and unique that will thrill for many years, but who knows, it might be.

I just wanted to say the word prototype. I didn't wanna be left out.

By the way, what was so "prototypical" about the Intamin coasters at CP? Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they all just bigger versions of other models? And Maverick is the world's second aquatrax, anyway. So that can't be a prototype.

Prototype.

Good point as SF had already built three impulse coasters without the twisted back spike(what's so innovative about that?) before CP built WT & rides like TTD,Raptor,Mantis,MF etc. are just larger versions of existing designs with MF being nothing more than your standard run of the mill intamin mega coaster with an extra 110 feet tacked onto it.

As for where this track is going, assuming it's not some photoshopped hack job for our entertainment it's just too early to say so really there's no point in beating a dead horse any further when we should just give it a decent burial already.

I wanted to add this to the conversation.....although I don't have any idea if this track is headed to Cedar Point or not, I would not be the least bit surprised if it is going to a Cedar Fair park. I feel sure there is no ill will between B&M and Cedar Fair, given that they CF seems to really like their Mega Coasters with Behemoth, Diamondback, and the rumored ones for other Cedar Fair parks (Carowinds). Not only that, it looks to me like the new style of hyper trains (with the staggered seating the way it is) was custom designed for Cedar Fair.

CF seems to be doing a lot with B&M and GCI lately, which to me is a wise business decision-both companies build reliable crowd pleasers; I'm sure they will work with Intamin, MACK, S&S again too, but it appears that for the present they seem to be working a lot with B&M/GCI.

All that being said.....I think the track is either going overseas, or will end up being a floorless coaster for a US park. Only time will tell.....

^ NOBODY knows where the track is going except the park and B&M. It could go anywhere, even CP since CP doesn't have a sitdown or a floorless (and the closest floorless got moved to VA).

It completely depends on what your view of prototype is. A prototype is generally a coaster that has been built for the first time. WT is the first Intamin impule to have two twsted spikes, MF is the first full-circuit coaster to reach 300+ feet, and TTD is Intamin's first full-circuit coaster to reach 400+ feet. You could also call it an upgrade on an existing design, but it completely depends on your opinion on what prototype coasters are.

But do you REALLY think B&M has the technology to send a coaster into another dimension?

Why do they need to? What if they decide to build a B&M or a GCI, which never build coasters with 100 degree drops? The only known coaster type that goes beyond 97 degrees is S&S's El Loco model. With today's economy, an El Loco or Gerstlauer Eurofighter is possible, but I don't think CP HAS to build a coaster with a >100 degree drop.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

If I had a billion dollars, I'd buy a B&M for my back yard (which would obviously be huge), for my own personal use.

Maybe, just maybe, this is someones new toy.

Or perhaps they had some 'scrap' track that got made wrong for a previous coaster, painted it, and thought it would be funny to leave it out in the yard.

^ Of course it's gonna be someone's new toy! It's gotta go to a theme park sometime soon unless B&M likes to place random track pieces in a field outside their manufacturing plant.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
Doubt it!

Like I said back on page 73, Millennium Force's lift hill is a "prototype." I believe it was the first elevator lift system, which also caused MF numerous problems its first couple years.

Just to throw a wrench in everything how about Worlds of Fun. Before everybody here goes crazy here are some things to think about.

1. Kansas City is getting a Slitterbaum next year that will really blow the socks off of Oceans of fun. So, I'm guessing that they will connect the two parks and have just one fair for both WOF and OofF. Since the Prowler is opening this year could it be possible that WOF and Cedar Fair would also put a Large Steel Coaster in as well?

2. With the lack of a new steel coaster in Missouri since The Patriot it is time for one of the three major parks to get a steel coaster. Also, with CC closing in Branson the thrill seekers have one less reason to go to Branson.

3.Next season could be make or break for WOF as we know it with all of the new entertainment options happening in Kansas City, so they really are going to have to do something to attract the GP to the location. Less expendable entertainment cash + more options= trouble for the park that doesn't offer a big bang in 2010 in KC.

4. This may seem unrealalistic to you folks in the East and West but realize Kansas City, MO is trying to become a destination tourist spot in the middle of America. Here is a small list of options the city will offer in 2010 for your entertainment money. Worlds of Fun; Oceans of Fun; Slitterbaum; Great Wolf Lodge; Kansas City Royals; Kansas City Chiefs; Legends Entertainment district which is attached to the Kansas Speedway (this area also has the first Dinosaur restaurant just like the one they either finished or are about to in Downtown Disney); The Country Club Plaza; three free standing Casinos and possibly a forth at the Race track; Union Station which houses Science City. There is talk of Legoland as well, so as you can see this city which is centrally located has the possibility of receiving that very pretty yellow B&M coaster.

Oh yea, I don't really think it will happen, I just wanted to post a positive report on my home town. I hope it will intrigue TPR enough to add the city onto a future trip!

Well if this track is real why hasn't there been more updates? Are the pieces still there? Are there more pieces? Are there pieces out now that may hint to an inversion or are the pieces still all non inverted sections?

Also if this project is real and for the US why would they start making the track for the project 1 to 2 years ahead of time... Unless this is the maglev project that will take people from Downtown Disney to Los Vegas in an about an hour

Anyways Imo if this project is real it's for an overseas park like a Happy Valley, unless B&M has so may projects for 2010 they are starting fabricating early so they don't get behind and nothing gets delayed.

^

1. It's Las Vegas.

2. Most parks usually have to plan ahead two-three years ahead of time for huge attractions because they need to come up with the design plans, send the plans to the company, work with the town council to get the ride approved, work out design flaws, figure out where the ride will go, etc. It's not like RCT where you just plop a ride down on a random place and expect it to make money.

3. The pieces are probably still sitting there.

^^ Just because Kansas City is getting a water park doesn't mean that WOF needs a new coaster. I live in a popular tourist area, Hampton Roads VA, and both major parks in the state recently got new coasters on top of a number of waterpark expansions. That doesn't mean that a new coaster needs to be added.

Now Missouri already has TWO BRAND NEW GCI's. There's really no need for another coaster. If it were a Missouri coaster, SDC is most likely to get it considering CC closed and all.

Even though KC is trying to attract tourists, that doesn't mean WOF is required to add another expensive coaster to its ride collection, although it would be nice.

PS: Its Schlitterbahn, just to let you know.

Doubt it!

Complete sarcasm. Hence the definitive language I used ("obviously it will have to..."), instead of more indecisive phraseology associated with speculation ("I think it could...").

But do you REALLY think B&M has the technology to send a coaster into another dimension?

Sure I do, in the same sense Harry Potter or X2 send their riders into a "4th" dimension. It's not meant to be taken literally, merely a marketing slogan.

I don't know that a Schlitterbahn would be incentive enough to invest in a coaster as opposed to a water park expansion. I wouldn't mind seeing WoF include OoF with theme park admission, though, like their competitor across the state. I'm no business major at all, but I dunno how well OoC would fare if Schlitterbahn holds up their standards in KC.

^ B&M seems to be the least-likely coaster manufacturer that would build a 4-D coaster. In fact all their creations (except the invert) are based off of designs that are tried and true...

Stand Up - Originally designed by Arrow, Togo and Intamin picked the concept up. This was B&M's first design.

Sit Down - Perfected long before B&M went into the coaster industry

Invert - B&M's only truly innovative design

Hyper - Perfected by Arrow and Morgan before B&M picked it up

Dive Machine - Basically a sit down with bigger cars and a vertical drop

Floorless - A sit down without a floor

Flyer - Perfected by Vekoma before B&M picked it up.

The 4-D coaster hasn't been perfected enough to actually convince B&M to build a prototype.
