Wild Waves Theme Park: 2 summer visits.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! If you've read my TR from Wild Waves during Fright Fest, you'd know that Wild Waves was a small park about 25 or so minutes from Seattle (depends on traffic). Now, not much was open then, so I'm going to show you some pics from earlier in the year when I visited.

The first few photos are from when I brought my friends Lucas and Zach over. The second batch is from a visit later in the summer, with just my parents and I.

....wants to face a Corvette! The Challenger still wins!

I shall end this update with a stop at Krispy Kreme!

The station building for Lumberjack Falls.

The back of yet another Zampherilla ride, Tiberaxe. (Walibi Belguim=Vekomaland, Wild Waves=Zampherilland)

Do I need to comment? Ok, fine! A midget first drop for KGR.

100_1087-640x480.jpg.8326e7de3df96c837496341d9b90018b.jpg

As we left, I got some final shots of random stuff!

100_1083-640x480.jpg.1394a62029cce7052111a66de2e2e527.jpg

The Wharf, serving whatever is on the sign up there.

Quick, get a cup before they change the design again!

Hooks Lagoon, the coldest place in Federal Way! No, in the state! Except for winter.

Wegweiser thing. Is that spelled correctly? Hope so!

Lots of seagulls on the wood today. They must be planning to take a dump on the visitors tomorrow.

"Come to Fright Fest..... Or I will get you next time you visit!"

I woder why this trash can is so full. Cedar Point empties their 1,800 (that's not a misprint) trash cans out every hour, and they want to add more! Wild Waves could do with a few more....

100_1072-640x480.jpg.21f4aa8fe873cc24fe89b12bc1c0c97b.jpg

Random new wood on the fence.

If you can see some of the empty space next to the games, that's a place where you can see the catfish that inhabit the lake and are constantly there begging for food. It's entertaining to watch them completely go crazy just to get a few pellets of food

100_1069-640x480.jpg.513349be637bede10aefa6e73ad7535b.jpg

Fun; yeah, I'm sure it is!

100_1068-640x480.jpg.208abc616258bbfc9375b273b3614e7e.jpg

Again, the mystical but usually closed octopus ride. Forget the octopus; look at that chick!

100_1067-640x480.jpg.554b7c9d00c16c41c568e641c0a82a71.jpg

A little bit farther down the path that goes around the lake.

A nice view over the lake that the park surrounds.

On the way down from Timberhawk or on the way to Timberaxe, Lumberjack Falls, or Klondike Gold Rusher, you'll stumble along this Zampherilla Kangabounce. Zampherilla also designed the Disko, if you didn't know.

100_1062-640x480.jpg.fef48e38f379a2ffb4466c05447a535f.jpg

The train Zach's sandal nearly landed on.

100_1061-640x480.jpg.39ea27bed02540c7d48258a5cbba35db.jpg

This one's pretty much a close running out and back coaster. It doesn't have much airtime though.

100_1060-640x480.jpg.c3faf1221aa50a882e40efeef19c8192.jpg

Timberhawk was built in 2002 by S&S. It opened the next year (I think), and was the first of a short series of woodies by S&S.

100_1059-640x480.jpg.85550ff7ce1b8a6313eb92297747387d.jpg

Random theming!

100_1058-640x480.jpg.c0ea250bfd90295e11dbab5cc28653dd.jpg

Three trash cans! Yay! You get your prize of...

100_1056-640x480.jpg.0361cb19052e32aa501f56a4c0d62084.jpg

Two trash cans.

100_1057-640x480.jpg.41503f1b1ca0d9533b39bcf2c8790477.jpg

One trash can.

Lines can be up to 1 1/2 hours if they're running all 3 trains and loading is reasonable. It's rare during most times that you have to wait 45 minutes or more, though.

100_1054-640x480.jpg.e234ba3b26f0ce37ba2c435b47cd279c.jpg

Then again, that's like saying "Well I have the most powerful sub-compact on my street!"

100_1052-640x480.jpg.15c03c3d3d90cda8e2bb8ec2c9f85a36.jpg

And now, Washington's most extreme roller coaster, Timberhawk: Ride of Prey!

100_1051-640x480.jpg.547467351ff80e0ee5cfc82ff725bc36.jpg

Paratrooper. Now I've got to tell you a funny story. When Zach, Lucas and I visited, Zach was riding with me, and he told Lucas "Hey, catch my shoe!" So Zach throws his sandal to Lucas and he overshoots it into the fence that keeps you from walking into the mini train. That was good, but then, Lucas throws the shoe back to Zach and it lands on top of the car we were riding. Good ol' Lucas and Zach....

100_1048-640x480.jpg.fa12816b7291a7b80ae9e132836018cf.jpg

This is one old carousel!

100_1047-640x480.jpg.050f19e34fb67d6083e82d546927e986.jpg

My hair and my old school BK shirt help with the theme too!

100_1045-640x480.jpg.1c735a78028d1bc6012889788560f2a1.jpg

Disko Flashback has a pretty big influence over the general area its in; music plays to suit the theme, a restroom/food facility was painted to match the ride, and a drinking fountain was painted along with it.

100_1044-640x480.jpg.7dfd1817b72e63756541264d2ecc529b.jpg

I wonder why they put the smoking zone right in front of Ring of Fire. Maybe they want to add to the 'burning' senasation? Or do they want that ride to burn over everything else? You decide.

100_1043-640x480.jpg.83a7930bc0b0fff61a6359805f5c5f12.jpg

ICEE, the official frozen drink of Wild Waves. Too bad they don't' have Vault ICEE. (I know Robb just said FAIL somewhere out there.)

100_1042-640x480.jpg.611bd39e5a667bbaf10772cf5c10eef1.jpg

And now, for Wild Wave's newest ride: Disko Flashback!

100_1041-640x480.jpg.bbca1a394c4b27b140e61357a7f2b2af.jpg

Falling Star was closed to day, to my saddness. I've never seen it stall like this before.

100_1040-640x480.jpg.086546f2218058be5e51cb03067329c4.jpg

The Octopus Ride was operating today. It's down a lot, and I'm glad I got to see it run. (Not as glad when I saw Dragster rollback right as I has my camera, though!)

100_1039-640x480.jpg.f72569af62fd1d808a36d8bb5b7184a6.jpg

Hang Glider, Louie's favorite ride. (Louie is another friend. He's the one who came during Fright Fest)

100_1038-640x480.jpg.78133fb91a077cd94587ea3afb4b33a7.jpg

This would be my desktop pic if only Wild Thing was more awesome! And if only I would've moved the camera up an inch or so.

100_1037-640x480.jpg.98ea366f42b9fed26e8ebcb0aadd6f34.jpg

I'm sure you know what this is if you've ever heard of S&S, but we'll get to that later.

100_1036-640x480.jpg.ccb2b5b73fe7636071337b2c92f7659d.jpg

I could imagine an Intamin Impulse here. That would be good!

100_1035-640x480.jpg.d3a76b9999a9cb11cc922b94a5a2ef48.jpg

I wonder if cf12 got eaten up by the cart..........

100_1034-640x480.jpg.35fde6edab34148579b98c6708361c8e.jpg

The Fright Fest cars. You could get pictures next to the herse last year (they didn't this year, or we didn't pay attention), and someone drives the skull go cart around the parking lot. It's fun to watch!

100_1033-640x480.jpg.cb6ddfd4d043cbc2acd22dd12da74e73.jpg

Hooks Lagoon, the parks family interactive water playhouse. If you've been to White Water in Georgia, you'll probably know what I'm talking about. And the water is so cold in this thing, it would be better if the water was as cold in White Water!

100_1032-640x480.jpg.2e5cee466c45669bc244c2b78cdc4b66.jpg

Mmm! Dippin Dots! Too bad they don't serve the cookie dough one, unlike Silverwood.

100_1031-640x480.jpg.e2c3ce297ce73e3a8ff8ca6c7c1e0dac.jpg

I, being and avid car fan, must pose and get a picture next to this beauty! (My hair is much shorter now, don't worry!)

100_1030-640x480.jpg.bf18d0e48885ba037426f81a7f212676.jpg

....... wants to challange the brand new Dodge Challanger! Challanger wins, hands down!

100_1029-640x480.jpg.6c295ed02801e5fc61298556a83191c1.jpg

Umm, this sign points towards the entrance.....

100_1028-640x480.jpg.e5d6d405e65a1a2c3602a806b2c73722.jpg

See, just like Corkscrew, but with a loop instead of a boring straight section before the turn. But the light roughness and Arrow Chain-lag make up for this loop.....

100_1026-640x480.jpg.88ddf79198bc13414236932e68718f60.jpg

The colorful Konga Slides complex.

100_1025-640x480.jpg.0aa57acbfe48a541bccff74165be8e7b.jpg

Zooma begins with a push out of the station, a twisting enclosed drop, and some overbanked turns where a lot of weight = nearly over the top! Then, you enter another enclosed tunnel with an s-bend before coming out to some airtime drops and a big splashdown!

100_1023-640x480.jpg.79e467c2b0ade9848c9662c2025e4b1c.jpg

More rib-breaking fun! Really, this ride is better if you sit on the right!

100_1024-640x480.jpg.6dca0098ac33ea82b53f60738bd30470.jpg

Wild Thing is like a combination of Corkscrew and Corkscrew, with a Corkscrew layout, but a loop after the first drop just like Corkscrew. Are you confused? So am I!

Dr. Strange!

100_0796-640x480.jpg.48827986aaadd9957e64a9dadc8b6c51.jpg

The rib-smashing Klondike Gold Rusher. If you want to ride this very fun trip to the emergency room for broken ribs and stomach jamming, I suggest you sit on the right.

Behind the trees, you can see the building that houses the Pizza Peir (the parks raised pizza place), one or two souviner shops, an arcade, and more!

100_0793-640x480.jpg.186b8a95a0f5087c63ba1b7316480d84.jpg

Zooma Falls, the newest ride in the waterpark section. Added and opened in 2004, its been one of the waterparks most popular rides since. You can also see Wild Thing's lift hill.

100_0792-640x480.jpg.3f09acd2281956e09b6415dfb14f5602.jpg

You can see one of the parks slides, as well as I-5 Dive. (Yes, it is the only freeway themed ride in the world. FYI, I-5 is the same freeway for those who live in Oregon or California.)

100_0791-640x480.jpg.f19dce1e07920e8e12bc6fd5513371a0.jpg

We're finally there!

100_0790-640x480.jpg.742d4ad0dd6cdd22552045453a7cda0d.jpg

Next was Zach. (can you tell that they're weird? Much like me!)

100_0788-640x480.jpg.98dfe9317c10e4a8c55080f925d01a2c.jpg

First off, we had to pick up Lucas. He and Zach are friends and should get along well......

^True, although if it was an SRT8, they would be in a little trouble. But AWD>RWD in traction and standing starts.

Thanks for all of the great comments so far guys! I'll try to keep more coming when the parks reopens in the summer, I did get most of the stuff, but there is some more to this park than I showed...........

At one point, my family used to live just down the road from Camp Union, and we made quite a few visits to the old Camp Union Cookhouse. Not sure if that may be familiar, but thought I would toss that out there. We were about 10-15 minutes out of Silverdale and about 20 from Downtown Bremerton.

Wild Waves is good for a smaller regional park. Not exactly a destination park, but certainly a nice way to spend an afternoon. I always really enjoyed the water park half of Wild Waves.

Corkscrew, did you mean the way you typed it was correct? Or did I type it wrong? Sorry about that.

nursemelis374, thank you very much! I've been practicing my picture taking skills, so that when I do updates they're as best as they can be!

BuschSchoe, Silverdale has grown quite a bit since you've last lived here if you call it a small town. Actually, they added a good sized mall in the mid 80's; a lot has developed since then. You should check it out sometime if you ever pass through, you will be surprised!

carolinacaniac, the Camp Union Cookhouse has been closed for a while now, which really stinks considering I haven't been there too much. But it is still standing, and the owners are considering re-opening it later.

And to everyone, I will try to get a waterproof camera so I can get better pictures of the waterpark section without damaging my camera. Thanks again for all the good comments!
