CoasterNut17
I just checked Screamscape and I heard that the last track piece on Led Zeppelin was installed last Thursday. Also, a crane working on Midnight Rider fell on to one of the track pieces pushing the opening day farther. More soon!
htomc42
I was down at Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago, and went by the Hard Rock Park preview center. I also got some pics of the actual coaster, under construction! The local news said that it is going very smoothly, and is ahead of schedule. There's still major construction going on, but the park should be open for the 2008 season. Give me a call anytime someone wants to go to this park, I missed the first Deep South tour! Looking the other way, showing the entire ride so-far constructed, including the loading platform. The big Zeppelin cover hasn't been put on it yet. Looking toward the lift hill. The Led Zeppelin coaster, located along a side road, so it was possible to get fairly close. Best picture I could get of the whole thing. Another angle. They will have several coasters, and a dark ride. Another view of the park Scale model of the entire park I wonder what a punk-themed coaster would be like? British invasion section. I'm not sure if that is the Austin Powers car. Different areas of the preview center mirror the different zones in the park, which include hard rock, country, 60s/70s, British invasion, and more. Side view. This is the best picture that I could take through the plexiglass case. Another view of the coaster Scale model of the new Led Zeppelin coaster! Entrance to the preview center, with Led Zeppelin statue. Sand sculpture. They're really going all-out on this park, even though its nowhere near as big as Disney. Major $$$ going into this. Yes, its the real bus from the movie! Hard Rock Park, along US501 near the Intercoastal Waterway
coasterbilly
wow dude this is a sweet report Led Zepplin looks like it will be one of the best new coasters for 2008! I love how this park is looking, will most definitely hit this as soon as I can either next year or in 2009!
Scaparri
I wonder what a punk-themed coaster would be like? I envision a good, classic punk song on a ride that is something like Son of Beast, T2, and Furious Baco rolled into one so that you get the simulation of the hundreds of idiots around you at a punk concert that think moshing is cool. Great TR though! I love those pics alongside Led Zeppelin, and the sand sculpture is impressive. I'm really amped about this place. I can't wait to visit next August. dino
Nice report. I'm not exactly a music buff, but the previews and now this report are getting me pretty psyched about the park.
TheRapidsNerd
A most excellent TR! (insert air guitar/Steve Vai lick here). May just give you a shout if I can get to SC next year or in 2009. Would be great to hang out with someone from the area.
bgwfreak
Thanks for the pics! Zep looks like a mini hyper with that first drop.
almightyfire
Very nice looking park. All thats needed now is a woodie and then it will be complete. Now this is how you open a park.
Adrenaline_Rush
Am I the only one who thinks the Led Zep ride first drop isnt going to make it through that loop.
Eric_Smith
Am I the only one who thinks the Led Zep ride first drop isnt going to make it through that loop. The loop is 30ft shorter than the drop. It should make it no problem.
HHIslandGirl
Note to self: reserve condo early...not on a holiday weekend...I'm so glad I'm only 4 hours away from there. I can't wait to check it out!
krazekiddd
^I wish my customers that own timeshare would think that! Bad enough with them calling me a week ahead complaining that couldn't make a reservation. I totally can't wait to use my resort benefits to hit up this park next year. kewlcoasterdude
Am I the only one that doesn't think Led Zeplin looks that impressive? It isn't the lack of size, it just seems like an average coaster with some very unoriginal elements. I don't get the hype. There are going to be a lot of disappointed people out there. I do think the on board stereo sounds cool and I am a big Zeplin fan. The color scheme is very cool as well. Overall the park looks sweet, I am just not buying this coaster as one of the best of '08. PKI Jizzman
This park will be my new heaven. Coasters + Rock 'n Roll is the best thing ever created. Pretty much what I live for right there.
deano
Im really excited about this 'new' park, ive only ever been exposed to new coasters at an existing theme park, but an entirely new theme park is super cool.

Overall the park looks sweet, I am just not buying this coaster as one of the best of '08. I knew we couldn't make it 2 pages about a new coaster without a complaint. I know that it doesn't look all that impressive from an enthusiast standpoint, probably no forces, no unique elements, etc... But, this is a brand new park and they want to start off big. They are going to make their first coaster one that the GP will love. I am sure the GP is liking this just by the way it looks. Even though there is a ton of us fellow enthusiasts out there, there is way more GP. Is the other coaster across the lake an inverted?
bgwfreak
^ They got the little suspended water coaster from Emerald Pointe, there are also supposed to be 3 other coasters at the park. Let's see... Cedar Fair jacked up my season pass price for Carowinds. Took away free parking. Took away ERT. What do you think I'll be doing next year? It sure won't be getting a season pass to Carowinds! ** Also, how the heck is a 150ft tall coaster unimpressive? It looks really fun. It's like having Kumba 3.5 hours away instead of 10! Guest
Am I the only one who thinks the Led Zep ride first drop isnt going to make it through that loop. This a B&M coaster now. They don't put heartline rolls on the lowest section of the ride just to tell everyone it needs to be removed five day before opening.
IwantRevenge
3 words coolest themed park ever! okay thats...but beyond that point. Led Zeppelin looks like a class ride and I am so stealing that statue. Did anyone else notice the peninsula that shaped like a guitar jutting out into the lagoon that looks pretty cool it's self. kraken613
In the first and second pictures of LZ look at the bottom of the cobra roll going into the zero-g roll. Theres a trim! WHY! TRIM!
yankees15
^That was exactly what I was going to point out, but you beat me too it. I think this coaster looks like it will be really fun. I doubt it will be a top ten kind of coaster but it will be up there.
Adrenaline_Rush
There is probably a trim so if the train is going into it to fast it wont create headbanging on that twist, I mean would you rather have the fun weightlessness with calculated speed, or vekoma headbanging on a B&M. This a B&M coaster now. They don't put heartline rolls on the lowest section of the ride just to tell everyone it needs to be removed five day before opening. So true...its just how the angle of the photo was taken, I didnt realize that it was 30 feet higher than the loop. Looks like fun!
kraken613
I just wanted to point it out to every one.
yankees15
I just hope the trim isn't used and if it is I hope it is similar to Nitro's. Nitro's trim just "kisses" the train and you don't notice a speed change.
