Hard Rock / Freestyle Music Park Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^That's weird. I wonder if it is an end of season thing and they won't do any other shows tomorrow either.

I was at the park the saturday before labor day weekend, and lots of stuff was closed and broken, the music on Iron Horse was broken all day, the music was broken on 2/4 cars on Round About, and Time Machine's was a little sketchy at times. They also canceled the fireworks that night.

No you got it all wrong. They have had problems with the audio all year. The park did not do as good as they had hoped they would have. The speakers took a beating last year from kids kicking them and hitting them and the trains not being properly stored during the off season. The reason the fireworks did not go off is because they had a problem with the actual fireworks the weekend before and cancelled them 5 mnutes before the show. The problem was one of the barges sensors went completely out and they had to redo the whole barg which took almost a week and a half. I have insiders in the park so I am kept up on all the going ons in the park. Also look for a huge announcement about rides in next 2 weeks and look for a water flume and lazy river to go in the myrtle beach section and also a flat which has not been revealed to go beside round about where phonehenge used to sit. They are also redoing Monstars of rock totally. They are making it 3d and taking cardboard out from what I was told. So the ride wil once again be good instead of terrible. The reason the shows were not going this weekend is because the ice show was ended last week to let them go and get ready for the winter ice shows that travel. Also CSI was only a one season gig thank god. That was the wosrt show ever. Adrenaline rush will not be back next year. Flip 5 live did not do a show because they were doing concerts on the stage. Flip 5 live and ice cold country will be back next year and the other two shows are being scrapped for newer and better ones so I have been told by a very big person in the park. But also the park may have to take some more loans out because as of this week they have not paid any bills except payroll in the park. They have had 4 lawsuits in 3 weeks against them and they are trying to come up with the money to pay them. If they can make it through the recessio then this park will flourish afterwards.

They had the line for Time Machine in the switchbacks earlier in September, so I think it is just hit or miss. SC is also not a very good climate for a theme park since it rains almost every day from late July to early September.

No it rains early in the year but not in the summer its just humid as hell. An the time mahine stayed almost 2 hours lines every weekend till the end. The other rides were pretty much less then 20 minutes.

^^Well I live about 2 hours from FMP on the coast, and it rains pretty much every afternoon in August where I live, so I guess Myrtle Beach has a completely different climate. It's funny that I went twice and got rained out both times before I actually made it into the park.

I was there almost every operating day and the park only closed once because of rain because it rained for more than 3 hours. So I do not know what you are talking about.

I didn't say the park was closed during those days.

We went one day and went to the ticket booth and asked for tickets. The guy's response was "why". He said that the park was open, but the power was out, and that Time Machine was struck by lightning earlier in the day and would not re-open that day.

The second time we parked in the parking lot, and there was tons of lightning and it was downpouring. The radar didn't look good, so we just went home.

I never said they weather was bad because they had to close, I just said it was bad for attendance.

Sometime last year I was reading a PTR of Hard Rock Park and they showed a photo of a Zierer Flitzer being built. I haven't seen a photo of it since, I haven't even heard anyone mention it. Anyone know what happened to it? It looks a lot like Racing at Jolly Rogers in Maryland. This coaster is the same colors and only operated there in 2007 than was removed. And I saw what I think is the same coaster at Hard Rock Park in 2008. What do you think?

I know it was only there for a short time as a loaner, don't even know if it ever opened to the public. My impression was that it was always going to be temporary and that HRP brought it in last minute when they realized that 2 of their 5 coasters would not be operating when the season opened.

This is what I read.

That is a plain shame that a coaster like that was only a loner and didn't stay in the park very long (know for a fact that coaster was nowhere on site when I visited the park in August 2008). I rode a coaster like that in Monty Piers and thought that coaster (although small and not very fast) was a very fun ride (I rode it twice because it was that fun!!! ). I do hope that Freestyle Music Park could somehow bring that coaster back and put some cool music theme to it.
