^I'm guessing you mean that www.hardrockpark.com now takes you to the Hard Rock Cafe website with no mention of the park whatsoever, and if instead you go to www.hrpusa.com it takes you to a temp site that talks about 'the park formally known as Hard Rock Park'?

Has anyone seen any real press release or anything on this?

^ I know www.hardrockparkblog.com posted this message today:

FPI Myrtle Beach said that they will come up for a new name for the park within a week. The Sun News reported that park executives said a new name fits their strategy of rebranding the park as more family friendly.

Sales and marketing director John Stine says the new name will have a musical orientation.

I guess we will know in about a week the new name of HRP. Hopefully they have been thinking of a name for the past couple of months instead of trying to come up with something now at the last minute.

It's nothing official but it's something.

Wait, wait, wait....let me stop laughing for a moment here and try to get this straight...

So today is April 3rd...we'll know the name of the park in a week...let's say April 10th...and they plan to open Memorial Day weekend just 6 weeks later...with a new name that has only been around for 6 weeks...and they are expecting to attract 800,000 people to this currently "un-named" park that when they figure the name out will "fit their strategy?"

Anyone else have a very hard time buying into this? How are they going to get all the local hotels, local markets, etc, on board for a park that they don't know the name of that everyone thinks is closed?

I mean, Six Flags Magic Mountain went through a tough enough time based on word of mouth that the park was closed...AND THE PARK WAS NEVER CLOSED!! Six Flags had to spend money on a commercial that told people "GOOD THING THE PARK ISN'T CLOSING...YES YOU! HELLO! THE PARK IS NOT CLOSED..THAT'S RIGHT **NOT** CLOSED! YOU CAN GO THERE TODAY AND RIDE COASTERS BECAUSE THE PARK IS NOT..NOT..**NOT** CLOSED.

And guess what? People still to this day think the park is closing. I have people I work with that live DOWN THE STREET from Magic Mountain that don't know the park is still open.

I can only imagine how f**ked "Whatever Park" is going to be this season. Seriously, at this point, name it anything...

"Not Rock Park"

"Large Guitar Park"

"I Lke Fondue Park"

"Pencil Shavings World"

"Ever Paid Visitor Gets a Free Hand Job From a Cheap Whore Park"

"Musical Circus Land"

"Street Fighter - The musical"

"We have rides and stuff...PLEASE VISIT US...park"

"Knights in White Satin - The Park"

ANYTHING!!! Just find your identity and do it QUICKLY! I don't think the new owners actually have any idea how bad the word of mouth is on their park right now. If they did, they wouldn't have taken this long to get things moving.

I personally would like to visit "Pencil Shavings World". Which just from the name sounds like a lot more fun than HRP.

This place will fail so spectacularly that it will amaze. Is it possible that the new owners are even more clueless than the last bunch?!?

Among other good points, I think you've really articulated why the last name they should want to use would be "Hard Rock Park."

"Dude, Hard Rock Park is closed...didn't anyone tell you?

"Oh, Pencil Shaving World...yeah, I don't know much about that. It's new, I think."

The Boyd's Bear store here in Pigeon Forge eventually went out of business because the employees of every hotel, restaurant, and shop in town told were telling their guests that it was closed for a solid year before it actually was.

"South Carolina's Rockin' Adventure" could work, but only if they put up construction walls all over the place.

Another park with "Adventure" in the name? How bout just calling it "The Music Theme Park",it would be the same dumb down advertising used in the NY NY casino with "The Rollercoaster".

I'm hearing a name has been picked out and as Simon Cowell says "It's Ghastly",FREESTYLE MUSIC PARK??? What is that? Isn't freestyle music that 1980's music from Miami with groups like Expose and Stevie B,will they be playing daily at the park?Even in only a couple of weeks couldn't they come up with something better than that.

HRP gets New Name

"Freestyle Music Park"

http://www.freestylemusicpark.com/

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., April 9 SC-FPI-MB-Freestyle

New Name Reflects Renewed Vision and Direction for Former Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- FPI MB Entertainment LLC (FPI MBE) today unveiled the new name for the former Hard Rock Park. "Freestyle Music Park" represents FPI MBE's renewed vision and direction for the Park in 2009 and beyond.

Freestyle Music Park is the destination for the celebration of that revolutionary phenomenon rock n' roll but also encompasses other genres of music including country, reggae, beach music, pop, R&B, alternative, Christian, and disco. At Freestyle Music Park, guests can indulge their inner "rock star" while enjoying the park's many rides, shows and other attractions.

In addition, Freestyle Music Park will be the prototype and launching point for the Freestyle Park brand throughout the world. FPI MBE plans to open additional attractions and entertainment venues in the coming years, under the Freestyle Park banner. The Myrtle Beach Park will be the first to feature a music theme.

"Choosing 'Freestyle Music' as the name of the Park is a strategic move that we see as a key benefit for the long-term success of the project while broadening its appeal to an infinitely larger number of guests," said Steve Baker, president of FPI MBE. "With Freestyle Music Park, we own the name, leaving us unencumbered by one specific brand. This will allow us, from a partnership perspective, to explore other opportunities and collaborate with national and international brands that will strengthen and extend the 'Freestyle' brand in Myrtle Beach and throughout the world."

In the weeks ahead, FPI MBE will be announcing several changes to its Freestyle Music Park. Many of the rides, restaurants and areas throughout the Park are being re-themed to better fit into the vision of Freestyle Music Park. Castings are also underway for talent to star in Freestyle Music Park's musical and live stage show acts, which are currently in development and will be announced at a later date.

Yeah because I'm sure that soooo many people decided not to go to HRP park because they were not big fans for Rock. I mean I'm sure millions of people out there said to themselves, "damn that park looks fun, if only it was named adult alternative polka and yodeling adventure world, man I would so be there."

While I hate to see a park close, I'm not putting my money on this one making it. Personally if the park survives the entire season I would be almost willing to consider that a success in and of itself.

All I can say to "Freestyle Music Park".....

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!

OMG! Seriously, could this be the WORST THEME PARK NAME....EVAR?

I mean, really? FREESTYLE MUSIC PARK?

WHAT - THE - FU*K

It's just terrible. Absolutely terrible.

"Hey kids, let's go to Freestyle Music Park!"

"What is that mom?"

"I have no idea...but we can see the CSI Live show there!"

Does anyone else think this is heading down the road to epic fail? I may be wrong, but I would personally get to the park this season, because I'm not counting on there being a 3rd season of this place...

Heading down the road? I think it started on that road to begin with. It just hit a big pothole on it's journey along the Epic Road of Failure.

The car is now in a ditch, and on fire.

Sweet.
