Hard Rock / Freestyle Music Park Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^I wouldn't say that it's a "stupid" question, just an "academic" one. I don't know what the trademark laws say, or even if they could be enforced when it comes to the late park's name.

The artist formerly known as Hard Rock Park?

This is what it sounds like when Hard Rock Park cries.

Maybe it's just like Marine World, the admission cost is too high.

Maybe it's just like Geauga, it's never occupied.

Chuck, I believe we have a NEW "Post of the Day." I vote to officially lock this thread. Game over, Wes wins!

That company, Marlin Atlantis, a Dallas-based real-estate developer, is looking to branch out into entertainment with experienced partners, and remains interested in Hard Rock Park, a spokesman said. On the night before the hearing, the company was poised to buy the park and to help with an additional multimillion-dollar loan to pay for administrative expenses through March.

"As those negotiations were down to dotting i's and crossing t's ... we were informed at approximately 4 o'clock in the morning last night that Marlin Atlantis had elected to walk away from the deal," said the park's lawyer, Paul Harner, according to the transcript of the proceedings in Delaware bankruptcy court.

This is the smartest move Marlin Atlantiswill ever make....although I'm sure they don't realize it. If you're a successful company in one field, your first attempt at branching out into another field (even if it were to be with "experienced" partners) should not involve acquiring a previous "epic fail" by someone else.

Im telling you, any buyer who gets the park and want to really see people come thru the gates they are better off theming it after barack obama! This could be bigger than Disney World!

I can't believe the price. 35 MILLION! That's an absolute steal. Hell, LZ cost one third of that. Why can't I win the lottery. I'd buy the place in a heartbeat. Add some water rides, advertise, and you'd at least break even.

I mean, really, LZ would sell for $6 million, the land is probably worth over 15, you're getting the damn park for almost free. You could even take out the crap coasters and put in good ones instead.

I can't beleive no one is buying a built amusement park for 10% of it's value.

I wouldn't be surprised if you were taking on the park's debts for a price tag of $35 million. Like Barings bank was sold for $1 but you had to assume their debts as well.

I'm thinking the place should be Hard Luck Park.

Obama World might work, I'll be queueing up for the Dread Zeppelin Coaster, the Hillary Clinton Water Ride, Knights in Democratic Satin, Life In The Fiscal Rescue Lane, Maximum GDP, Shake Rattle & Recession Coaster. I'm buying my plane ticket right now.
