edh Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I will be going to Puerto Rico this December to visit some friends who were my roomate's when I worked at Disney in the College program. I am sure they have ideas of stuff to do, but I was wondering if anyone here has been, and what they recommend. Right now, are probably going to Old San Juan, the Bacardi Factory, Culebra, the Rainforest, the Camuy Caves, and the satellite that was in James Bond Goldeneye. Is there any sort of amusement parks? I know they have a few small ones, but I don't know the rides. We will be saying in Mayaguez for 3 nights, and San Juan for the other. We may actually be in Dorado staying here, but not sure. Good deal, $100 a night. http://hyatthaciendadelmar.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
Phideaux Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I would recommend a trip to the bio-bay on Vieques if you are there when there is no moon. Search bio-bay Puerto Rico. It was by far one of the best things we did when we visited. The free rum drinks on the boat ride home helped too. Culebra was nice and I kind of like history so a visit to the fort in Old San Juan was fun. We did not visit any of the amusement places as they look fairly small. You should have a good time. I am looking forward to going again someday. Hope this helps and let us know how the trip went.
edh Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 We are definately trying to do a bio bay. I think the one in Viesques you have to stay over night unless you do some catamaran sailing that costs $125. I think we are doing the one more on the west side of the island. Our hotel is the Hampton Inn right by the airport, and I think its across the street from the El San Juan Inn. Anyone been to that place? From what I was told the whole lobby turns into a giant club or something like that. Also, aren't you allowed to bring Duty Free items back at the airport? And what is the average cost of alcohol. I would expect rum to be very cheap.
