But then I sort of have to wonder how a Terminator theme is going to help with the family-friendliness aspect. Terminator films aren't exactly what I'd call 'family entertainment' even though I regularly see kids in the T2:3D Universal attraction. I guess that should tell me what I need to know about that, but I still wonder...

The "Terminator " name attracts the teens and adults , and the 48inch height requirement attracts the families.

Personally I think this ride looks great and looks like its going to be non stop from the time you leave the lift.

Cant wait!

A height requirement attracts families?? Wow, Disney's really been trying too hard these past 53 years!

No, my point was that the Terminator theme is a little counter-productive to the family-friendliness of the 'medium-level' ride. The ride looks nice, but then a theme conveying the prospect of evil machines trying to annihilate humanity might turn away little Timmy & Tammy...

Oh great another west coast woodie that will be awesome for the first 3 -5 years, then get really rough because southern yellow pine has NO BUSINESS being west of the mississippi, and will dry out causing the track gauge to change ever so slightly. So, bottom line........ ride it within that time period.

Yeah, big deal, huh? (nooooot)

SFDK's Roar is almost 10 years old and that is one of the smoothest woodie's I have ridden. Easily in my top 10 for woodies. If SFMM takes care of Terminator as good as SFDK has with Roar, it will not go downhill.

I don't understand all the complaining. Sure, the name isn't ideal, but no matter what other name it could have been, there would still be much complaining about it. Even though this isn't a 500ft record-breaker inverted woodie launched dive machine with 10 inversions, it will still be great for the park. I am looking forward to riding it next year!

12 pages of people complaining...already? I really hope this doesn't become another topic based on something rediculous like complaining that the ride isn't "a coaster enthusiast's dream". Watch, this is gonna become like the locker "discussion" in the SFMM Updates thread.

Anywho, I think this ride looks great! Exactly what SFMM needs, a family coaster. And who cares if the Terminator theme doesn't make sense, at least it's a theme! I am quite excited for this project. It looks really cool.

Yeah really! I agree with that. Some of it almost seems like nit-picking. Wait until it is built and ridden, then nit-pick it to death!

I'm just going to say I don't care what the theme is or whether or not the wood is painted or where it's put. The next time I go there it will be open and I just look forward to riding it and having a good time.

"This GCI looks infinitely to the 99th power better than Psyclone" (Homer)

My driveway looks infinitely to the 99th power better than Psyclone.

But Terminator looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Nothing record breaking or extreme, just a good time.

And that's the kind of rides SFMM needs more of.

I honestly don't see what everyone's so hyped about. I mean, yeah, it means a new coaster for my local park, but it looks as if its almost a sell-out. This ride style has become so generic inside the Six Flags chain that for a flagship park to get something of this particular caliber and regular-ocity (?) is just not cool. You know, I'm all for the renovation of this park, and I also adore the one GCI I've experienced (Thunderhead), but this just wasn't the right move. My vote: They shouldn't gone for something more unique, such as Lagoon's WICKED. Common, that ride is bad-ass, and yet could still be family friendly and thrill-seeker friendly (except wood-coaster enthusiasts lol.) For what we have here, however, I find the layout to be below average, the construction space to be too constricted (there are some much better barren areas), the themieng to be over dramatic and tacky, and the overall concept to be a bad move. Guess I'll just have to wait for the rumored "Transformers" Spiderman ride at USH in 2011 to get a decent new ride...

These are the comments that really are confusing me. Other then a single artist rendition and a 45 second, quickly put together, video clip we really know nothing more about this ride today then we did back in June. Unless I'm really missing something, I've not seen any kind of theming yet for the ride, so I don't understand how it can already be tacky.

People complain that Scream! is built on a parking lot and has no theme. People complain that Terminator is going to have an "over dramatic and tacky" theme. SFMM really can't win!

Oh, I'm sure once all the details about that one are announced you'll think it sucks too....

I have an idea! We should tell everyone that if and when we put on an event with Magic Mountain that anyone who complained in the Terminator thread has to wait in the back of the line!

^^Ehh, that would be one long wait!

Is it just me or do those turns seem under-banked for a GCI?

Looks like a fun ride, though! I'm liking GCI's new style; lots of changes in direction, but also air-filled bunny hops, which early GCI's are missing (Thunderhead and Wildcat).

IMHO I think this ride looks awesome! I love Thunderhead, Kentucky Rumbler, Wildcat, Lightning Racers, etc. I am exstatic that the world is getting another GCII. I am even more exstatic that it is going in at MM. I havn't even ridden it yet, but it is sure to be one of the west coasts best.

Awesome news! Awesome news!

I was excited to read the press release this morning!!

I'm really looking forward to the park getting a new wooden roller coaster. I cant wait to see more details on the ride and to actually follow the whole construction of the ride.

A new coaster is great!! It doesn't have to be extreme to be fun! Only other GCI i've ridden is Gwazi at BGA, and we all know how that one is! (in serious need of millennium flyers).

I honestly cant wait to ride it next year!

It's good to see a few family GCI Woodies around, and also good to see Magic Mountain bring in another to take place of Psyclone.

However, this coaster POV does not pop out to me as a great ride. Seems basic high speed and turns. Not to mention the layout seemed really unusual.

But the name Terminator is cool. I just would have thought the name would have been for a steel dark ride. :O
