Circus Circus was supposed to get a full re-model in 2009, but I don't know if that's still the plan. I doubt it was going to be anything spectacular though. Oh well, time will tell.

I miss when there was a predominant theme at the park, remember "Grand Slam Canyon" and the tag line was "Adventuredome?" Those were the good days at the park. It was also a pay to enter park as well.

As far as Speed: The Ride, it seemed awfully quiet on the strip without the familiar roar you heard about every 10 minutes lol.

There are NO current plans for doing ANYTHING with Circus Circus, especially in this financial market.

MGM has a partnership with the company that did the Atlantis hotels to develop a new mega-resort on property right next to Circus Circus (that will use some of the RV park). Circus Circus is done for. It's just a matter of when, given what has happened to the economy.

The north end of the strip was quickly becoming a hot spot of development until the economy took a nose dive. Two major projects (Echelon and The Plaza) were put on hold, so I have my doubts the Sahara will go through with its plan to build a new tower and completely renovate the property.

Vegas is in trouble right now.

And as a sort of on-topic comment, I have to say that I hate the way everything in Vegas is becoming so generic/bland. The themed resorts were too over the top, but now everything is just becoming bland and boring...err, I mean "trendy/upscale." Something in between (like Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Paris) works best IMO.

Vegas is in trouble right now.

Tell me about it! I'm getting multiple emails a day from all of the hotels and casinos with amazing deals! If it wasn't so tough to either drive or fly there, I would go in a second!

Same here, although Southwest has been airing commercials with a $49 flight to vegas from the bay area. Its very tempting!

It's cheaper to buy a package to Vegas than it is to fly to Vegas.

My family just paid just over $500 for 4 days, 3 nights in Caesar's Palace plus round trip flight from Toronto.

My girlfriend paid just over $600 for the same length at Planet Hollywood.

A flight to Vegas from Toronto is about $600. Hotels are pretty much free if you book a package.

In terms of prices do also remember that this is the off season for the city. With that said, prices are down this year without any doubt. I stayed at the Palms for $90 a night back in August, a time of year that was in the middle of the cities busy season.

I did however just drop almost $800 for 3 nights in Vegas for this coming New Year, so there are still some events that the city is gouging for.

If that's true and it isn't being relocated anywhere, then that sucks. Speed is, by far my favorite coaster in Vegas. It is so fun and such an underrated coaster.

Well at least I have the Stratosphere to look forward to when I go on Wednesday and unforunately I'm going to have to endure the dreaded ME but it's probably not as bad as Ghostrider's second half but then again you never know.

I was wondering have you seen big people go onto any of the rides at Adventuredome Stratoshere or on ME? I'm going in a few days and I'm a little worried if I would have any problems getting onto any of the rides over in Vegas but mainly I want to go onto Canyon Blaster at Advenutredome because it looks really cool.

The only rides some people will have a problem with is X-Scream and Insanity at the Stratosphere, because they are lap bar only. The seat belt on the seats are really small and not really accommodating. Canyon Blaster is a common Arrow coaster with an OTSR so there should be no problems there. Manhattan Express has pretty forgiving restraints as well.

Me and my friend Melissa on Insanity. You can see the lap bars there.

I actually talked to one of the guys that works at the Stratosphere and he said he's 380 lbs. and has no problem getting onto Insanity but has some dificulty getting onto X-Scream which is kinda weird because they have the exact same restraints and seats but if he can get onto those rides then I should be able to because I'm about 50 lbs. lighter than he is. Yes I know I'm pretty fat but I don't care too much.

I used to work at the Stratosphere, its not actually weight, its how big your thighs are, X-Scream and Insanity do in fact have the same exact restraints. It varies person to person. If the seat belt clicks in you are good to ride, if not they will not let you. When I was there they would do the best they can to get the one last click as long as it didn't injure the person in the seat.

As far as Speed: The Ride I had a question, when it comes to LIM coasters, how cost effective is the launch, does it take a-lot of energy each time the ride was launched? I'm beginning to think that the ride didn't make enough money as well to make ends meet.

I don't really mind if they push it down on me because if I can have two average sized teens on my stomach for 5 minutes I think I could handle a restraint digging into my stomach for a couple of minutes.

what

It was a dare by some friends they thought that since I was a big guy I couldn't handle having both of them on my stomach for even 10 seconds I proved them wrong and I was actually pretty relaxed throughout it and I'm used to being in tight restraints like Riddler's Revenge at Magic Mountain that was a really tight fit for me for some reason even though I had been on Batman right before and had no problem getting onto that ride.
