P. 288: New B&M Dive Machine Announced!

Jesus. Somehow I don't think that's what they were after, but people will make something out of nothing, anymore.

Wow, this is a really nice addition for SFFT. I also think B&M might really be on to something here with this "budget" (for them) dive coasters that run about 2,500 feet of track and stand about 150 ft tall. Emperor at SWSD is basically the same thing. Obviously that's still a really big buy for a midsized park or a park in the Six Flags chain, but it does open up the possibility. That B&M door had basically been closed to anyone but big spenders for a long time now.

I think there are several small scale B&M dive coasters overseas, so this isn't really anything new.

To me this ride looks like Yukon Striker and Baron (Efteling) had a baby.

^ Nah, its a smaller Valravn without the dive loop and an added helix.

The reason I find the 7-wide surprising, however, is because it's a new custom train, which costs more money I would guess. Rather than just grabbing an existing train design from Emperor/Valkyria or Valravn/Yukon. Everything about this whole project is very unlike Six Flags and I love it.

Theoretically speaking, all their trains are custom made to customer specifics be it theme or capacity so I don't see how 7 across would cost any more any other train pound for pound.  I am sure they have an array of configuration already designed and waiting for whatever fits the customers needs.  SO yeah, while 7 across may cost more than 6, i am sure it's less than 8 and 10 when looking at it barebones.

I still don't get all the complaints about the vest restraints on the B&Ms. Other than the first season on GateKeeper, where they did seem to have a tightening problem, I haven't noticed that in seasons since, and I find them generally comfortable. I certainly prefer them to head banging and stinky hard OTS restraints!

Well if you've been on Diamondback or Goliath in Atlanta those B&M clamshells are the best. So open and free and would REALLY make this ride more scary than vests or OTSRs. Kind of like the difference of TTD over Ka, just so open yet safe with just lapbars that it kind of changes the experience for the better.

As others have said, this isn't really anything new.

This is Oblivion's entire layout.

This is an Oblivion clone for some reason

This is a pretty average-length dive coaster, it might even be above average.

I know everyone excited for new coaster but there’s some other news lurking. Six Flags hotel in very early development for Fiesta Texas. Don’t expect announcement any time soon, land won’t be broken till mid 2022, not scheduled to open till 2023. Expect announcement next year

Just tunnel into the quarry wall. Imagine Flinstone like balconies overlooking Pandemonium.  There is a field between the lot and the highway.

That better be one hell of an immersive Looney Tunes hotel for the $2000 a room they'd be charging.

If it’s anything like their parks, they’ll charge next to nothing for it and you won’t want to visit because of the sketchy clientele alone.

Clearly you've never been to SFFT, if you've made a statement this silly.

^SFFT and SFOT (partially) seem like a good one-two punch trip for that reason.

yup. . and toss in a stop in Seguin for an hour on the way to Arlington (for SFOT) from San Antonio, and spend an hour riding Switchback Railway at ZDTs and you have a great trip.

hell..I'd add another point onto that and make it the Texas Triangle 5 day trip:

fly into San Antonio and rent car.

San Antonio for SFFT & SWSA (2 days)
Drive to Houston, brief stop in Seguin for ZDT's, then thru Houston to Galveston for the Pleasure Pier. (1 day)
Drive from Galveston to Arlington, brief stop in Kemah for Boardwalk Bullet. . then next Day at SFOT. (1 day travel, 1 day at SFOT)

drop off car and fly back from Dallas/FW airport.

add an extra day and spend that day in San Antonio at the Zoo, Alamo, Riverwalk.

The one-two SF punch is a great trip. Only downside was the Texas heat, my GAWD!! SFOT had a lot more shade than SFFT iirc.

did you visit during Covid?

SFFT has multiple theaters. . . several of them inside with AC

tho if you visited during Covid, no shows were running. . tho they've started most of the outdoor ones again (at least in shaded theaters)
