bert425
^ I'd say above average, since it has that extra helix at the end . . .
KBrylczyk
Hey now, a bonus helix goes a long way towards making a ride better. Case in point, Blue Tornado at Gardaland.
AngusW
I know everyone excited for new coaster but there’s some other news lurking. Six Flags hotel in very early development for Fiesta Texas. Don’t expect announcement any time soon, land won’t be broken till mid 2022, not scheduled to open till 2023. Expect announcement next year
bert425
^ unless they are building in the parking lot? they aint gonna be able to get any closer than ones already along the highway there.
Bamwa
Just tunnel into the quarry wall. Imagine Flinstone like balconies overlooking Pandemonium. There is a field between the lot and the highway.
ytterbiumanalyst
That better be one hell of an immersive Looney Tunes hotel for the $2000 a room they'd be charging.

If it’s anything like their parks, they’ll charge next to nothing for it and you won’t want to visit because of the sketchy clientele alone. Clearly you've never been to SFFT, if you've made a statement this silly.
ytterbiumanalyst
^ Yeah for sure. A lot of people who haven't been here make the mistake of assuming this is a Six Flags park.
prozach626
^SFFT and SFOT (partially) seem like a good one-two punch trip for that reason.
ytterbiumanalyst
They absolutely are. Add in Sea World and you have a really good time.
Superbatboy
The one-two SF punch is a great trip. Only downside was the Texas heat, my GAWD!! SFOT had a lot more shade than SFFT iirc.

San Antonio for SFFT & SWSA (2 days) Drive to Houston, brief stop in Seguin for ZDT's, then thru Houston to Galveston for the Pleasure Pier. (1 day) Drive from Galveston to Arlington, brief stop in Kemah for Boardwalk Bullet. . then next Day at SFOT. (1 day travel, 1 day at SFOT) drop off car and fly back from Dallas/FW airport. add an extra day and spend that day in San Antonio at the Zoo, Alamo, Riverwalk.

SFFT has multiple theaters. . . several of them inside with AC tho if you visited during Covid, no shows were running. . tho they've started most of the outdoor ones again (at least in shaded theaters)

bert425
^ strange. I mean, yeah, SFFT doesn't have a lot of trees, but there is tons of shade in both ride queues (other than Poltergeist which they are fixing now making it an indoor queue), and with all the theaters
bert425
My Friend Katie Wennerberg took this pic yesterday from the Crows Nest Ferris Wheel of Poltergeist's new paint job! looks amazing, and can't wait to see the updated queue. . the whole ride reopens in 3 weeks on Labor Day weekend. to compare. .here's what it used to look like: (these pics from April)

rachelmadcow
Dive coasters cost a lot of money so thats why theyre always petite. Oblivion was a prototype it doesnt count. G5 is its clone. IIRC oblivion cost as much to build as SFNE Superman which ofc some of that went into excavations. Also IIRC from playing RCT dive coasters lose momentum fast because of the short trains so long layouts arent really possible without it being 250 feet like yukon strikker valravn. Six Flags obvi wanted a Gersty Infinity but theyre on the do not buy list so the only other brand making vertical drop coasters is B&M cedar fair just says yes to whatever B&M proposes so theyre gonna have b&ms full suite of models. B&m has never let CF down so i would say yes to whatever they offer at this point too.
CP_RULES
It looks as great as I thought it would. A gorgeous coat of paint on a gorgeous coaster in a gorgeous park. Interested to see how the queue experience turns out. I didn’t need a reason to come back here after my first visit this year, but now I have another! EDIT: Talking about Poltergeist not the new dive machine Edited August 21, 2021 by CP_RULES
bert425
Park President Jeffrey Siebert just shared these Poltergeist update pics - reopening to the public in two weeks! I asked for, and got, his permission to share here: here are the ongoing upgrades to the queue and station building (including the work we can see being done on the new indoor section on the "porch":

Bamwa
dang it was always fun to see folks slam into that brake run and their faces afterwards, but now the launch will feel more like launching out of a living room in a haunted mansion
