Mrlittle
Let's enjoy the great Iron Rattler and its jaw-dropping first drop for the rest of the season before we start guessing what will be built next.

vacoaster09
Anyone have any night time pics of IR. I would love to see how they have the ride lit at night. Also wonder how Night Rides compare to day rides.
Ducky dude
I bet night rides are cool with all the lights next to you becoming a blur, and, the blindness!

blasterboy65
Hey guys, this is my first post here, but I have been following this thread for a very long time. I have a couple of questions about Iron Rattler that I'd really appreciate knowing. I know I should just get out there and ride it, but I don't think I can do that for a year or so. If anyone can answer these for me, I'd really appreciate it. 1. What was your overall favorite part of the ride? Most people have said either the first drop, barrel roll, free fall into the tunnel, or the tunnel itself. Could anyone break these down a bit? So for example, what makes the first drop the best drop in the world? Is it mostly the airtime, steepness, or twist? How exactly does the free fall feel? Is it the strongest moment of airtime on the ride, or is there something else that distinguishes it? Same for the barrel roll and tunnel. 2. How would this coaster compare to OR and NTaG? What has the strongest airtime? 3. Lastly, how would the airtime on this coaster compare to air on coasters like El Toro and Skyrush? Would you rank it up against them? Sorry for the long post, but I'd really appreciate any replies.

Sorry for the long post, but I'd really appreciate any replies. I'd say my favorite part was the first drop, even though I have to admit that I actually like the first drop on the NTAG a bit more. What is remarkable to me about IRAT is the airtime... it's outstanding. And the bunnyhop right before the quarry wall drop really caught me off guard. I LOVED IT. I don't have any rides on El Toro or Skyrush, so I don't know about those. but know that the new rattler gives a healthy does of airtime, and it's smooth as butter
SFFTfan
Iron Rattler is great at night. Full darkness except for the mall parking lot lights and tunnel lights. When I went last Saturday, the lift lights were not on. I did notice some lights under the first drop and lift but didnt do much for lighting the structure up. There is a purple or blue light shining on the cliff wall below the lift but thats it.
SFFTfan
My favorite part is the first drop, then the 0-G roll, then the camel back drop off the cliff.

I will answer your questions since I can't seem to sleep. You really should just find a way to get out to the park to ride this season. 1. I love the first drop best. Especially as it curves a little to the left. I pick this first drop as my favorite out of all the coasters I have been on. My second favorite part is actually right after the barrel roll is a small bunny hop that is full of airtime in pretty much every seat of the train. 2. I have not been on Outlaw Run but will in August on the TPR Tour. I have been on NTAG. I love the airtime on both but NTAG has more airtime. But to be fair, NTAG is a longer ride. I think it would be easier to compare OR and Irat since they are shorter rides. I'm still debating on where I ranked Iron Rattler but its in my top 5 near NTAG. 3. Its hard to compare El Toro and Skyrush to Iron Rattler. But if your referring to how the airtime is felt on both because your knees are hitting the lapbar. Then yes, Iron Rattler has 4 spots where your getting some serious airtime and feel it. Not really sure how else you would want to compare the three. Of course all 3 are in my top
BigBomer
I think an underrated/overlooked element on this ride is the intense jolt up into the brake run, it provides the perfect mix of airtime and laterals. It was my 2nd favorite part of the ride behind the cliff dive.
boardwalkbullet91507
Tomorrows my last day of Junior Year... who needs sleep? My favorite part of the Iron Rattler is the 'Zero-G Barrel Roll' (as they call it) because it looks like a zero-g-roll but feels so different. It feels much more drawn out similar to a barrel roll, so for the majority of the duration of the element you are hanging, and yes, your butt leaves the seat. It's not like a B&M barrel roll which are sharp and quick; Iron Rattler's feels longer and the feeling you get when your hanging with nothing but a lap bar is by far one of the coolest feelings ever. It also plays kind of a mind trick; when you enter the element, you're give or take 110-125 feet off the ground (my best guestimate), and when you exit the element, you're at ground level. It's kind of a 'what just happened moment'.
shivtim
Does anybody have details on the "VIP early entry" for gold season passholders? I'll be there next weekend and I'm wondering if I'll be able to get in earlier than the posted 10:30AM opening, and if any rides open early. Thanks for any info! Thanks for any info! I guess it would be the same at all Six Flags parks (I get this info from SFSTL) When the gates to the park open at like 10:15 or so and everybody lines up at the ropes, Gold Pass holders can enter the park at 10:20 while everyone else is still waiting, and all attractions will be running. blasterboy65
Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies. What is it that makes th first drop do good? Is it the fact that it twists to the left, or because of how steep it is?
