Six Flags New England (SFNE) Discussion Thread

p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry I'm always so negative with this park (unless I'm talking about Thunderbolt or Wicked Cyclone of course) but this is why.

So they're willing to do a complete re-design and overhaul on 2 trains for a terrible coaster that has no potential anyway but they're not willing to put the old train that they already have back on Goliath when the current train is absolutely horrible, caused the ride to be closed for half a year and the beginning of the next year, has not seemed to improve reliability and has made what many people (myself included) considered the best ride in the park, one of the worst thanks to it's unbearable headbanging... even on perfectly flat and straight pieces of track.

They already have a train sitting around that would make this ride awesome... but instead of using it and admitting they screwed up they'd rather go out and buy 2 new trains for the piece of crap with no potential on the other side of the park.

I used to remain negative until this year as everything the park is doing seems to show that they really do care about the rides. It has made me regain my hope that the future of this park will be great.

Trains look great!

The logo looks a bit blurry on the picture and it is hard for me to make out what it is exactly.

Is Vekoma making the new restraints or is the park doing it themselves?

US park lawyers would never allow a park to modify a manufacturer's restraints.

Wow. Not one but two powerful outside banked airtime hills...how do I get so blessed to potentially have the two best steel coaster airtime machines in my 2 states of residency.

THREE outside banked hills!

Don't forget the low hill after the big overbank.

Oh my goodness it's a sign from above! Mind Eraser will be receiving new restraints and there's going to be a second outward banked airtime hill! Well by golly it's almost too good to be true. By the way, does anyone think they added that extra piece of airtime due to it not having the predicted amount of airtime? Maybe they just want to ensure their record remains untouched by other parks? It just seems like an odd thing to do this far into construction.

^ I'm sure final designs were decided soon after initial announcement. I don't think they would just change a piece of the layout halfway through construction. And no, I dont think its to make up for lost airtime. Honestly I don't even know what you're talking about; and what record is this? Very confused on this one.

^^ It isn't even completed, how could they determine if it had any more or less airtime than Bizarro has? They probably changed the element around the time of the announcement, but the rendering was already finished.

They are not counting it as a record, but are marketing it as the most air time in New England.

They're also saying it's the smoothest coaster in the world aren't they? Both of those things are really opinion based (I guess you could monitor airtime duration but nobody will), so they can really claim whatever they want.

I love how even with a claim that arbitrary and stupid they didn't even bother to say "In the Northeast" and had to limit themselves to New England at the risk of just sounding ridiculous. Bow down to the bull... and probably Phoenix.

Regardless though, Wicked Cyclone looks flat out amazing. I can't wait to ride it.

The cyclone was extremly rough. They are saying that it's the smoothest coaster so people don't think it's still a rough ride.

Also, they have to fulfill their claim of the most airtime in new England.

Or what? The airtime police will come get them? No they don't... it's arbitrary. It's all marketing, not a scientific airtime study. It could be interpreted a million different ways and they can say whatever they want.

That's pretty much exactly what I said. It's arbitrary and they can say whatever they want. We're spending way too much time discussing these things as it's all marketing language that means nothing.
