Six Flags New England (SFNE) Discussion Thread

Apparently, the bonsai pipelines are not being manufactured by neither whitewater nor proslide, but but by splashtacular, and the design kicks all sorts of ass.

THE POWER OF SIX HITS THE EAST COAST SplashTacular To Unveil Two Six-Story Waterpark Attractions At Six Flags America and Six Flags New England Next Season

For the third consecutive year, SplashTacular is pleased to announce the upcoming installation of one of their brand-new rides–but even more impressively, it’s coming in pairs.

Six Flags America in Maryland and Six Flags New England in Massachusetts announced last week that they each look forward to be adding SplashTacular’s DownUnder™ attraction to their Hurricane Harbor waterparks for the 2013 season.

The DownUnder is a striking ride that has huge stage presence with a tower that climbs to nearly 70 feet and features six separate high-speed slides. Upon making the ascent to the launch platform, lifeguards assist guests as they load into six individual ‘DrenalineDrop™ launch modules arranged around the perimeter of the platform. With adrenaline surging, riders get extra entertainment out of the ride by facing each other while awaiting the countdown for simultaneous release. The launch button is hit, causing the floor to drop out beneath each of the riders, launching them down near-vertical enclosed body slides into 50 feet of translucent fiberglass. The translucent fiberglass creates amazing spectator appeal, as the spectators are able to watch each of the riders race the others. Twisting and turning for over 255 feet, riders then come to a gradual stop in the runouts below. The six slides each take a different path to the bottom, providing a unique user experience for the riders. It’s safe to say that this ride is the first of its kind to offer such excitement and thrill to park visitors.

Named “Bonzai Pipelines” by Six Flags, both rides are scheduled to launch their first riders on opening day of the 2013 season.

“This ride offers incredible throughput and unlimited thrills. We are very excited that the Six Flags organization will be the first to showcase this new attraction,” said Steve Levine, Founder and CEO of SplashTacular. “The entertainment value of this ride is a perfect fit for these incredible parks.”

The DownUnder is the third ride in a series of thrill ride attractions introduced by SplashTacular, Inc. The first was the patented, award-winning 360Rush™, a 70 foot tall dueling body bowl ride where riders can gain speeds of up to 40 mph. Next came the Double BowlsEye™, a 70 foot tall dueling raft bowl, the sister ride to the 360Rush. Both rides launch riders in pairs and provide an unparalleled guest experience. “The 360Rush and Double BowlsEye offer twice the throughput, twice the speed, and twice the thrill of comparable rides in the industry. The DownUnder will bring six times the throughput and thrill! You can’t go wrong with that,” added Levine.

And the DownUnder slides look something like this:

Looking at the tower design, I assume they will probably just assign slides to each person as they reach the platform which should be good for speeding up the line but bad for trying to get all 6 slides.

People who complained about Bizarro having one train on opening day (which includes me):

It rained the entire day before. That's a whole day of testing lost. They might not have been able to test before that due to the temperatures being cold. Yeah, the line sucked, but you got to ride the #1 roller coaster on the planet. Think of all the coaster lovers like us that live out west or in Europe. They wouldn't mind waiting 4 hours for a ride. Next time you complain about Bizarro's line, just be lucky that you can experience the world's greatest ride, even if you waste an extra hour in line because the other train isn't running.

Well if it were i305 that would be one thing, but I would not wait more than 30 minutes for bizarro. I would have gladly waited over an hour for superman ride of steel, which was most certainly one of the best ride experience to be found. Bizarro is just a rattly, thigh bruising, off paced ride with its new trains since the retheme. The should at least remove those awful headrests. I'm disappointed in how sfne has let such an awesome ride deteriorate.

I agree for the most part, if it isn't broke don't fix it. The new trains suck and do ruin the original experience/ride.

I totally agree. This was my favorite coaster for years, but it's barely in my top 10 now.

As my first ride of this coaster was this past weekend, I can't speak to the pre bizarro experience, but this coaster blows the other [superman] ride of steels away, with or without the speakers. At least the trains don't have the shin restraints.

I would FAR prefer the modified t bars than the thigh bricks that the current trains have. I remember I would easily be able to leave an inch or two of space with superman ros and the airtime was glorious. Now the airtime just plain hurts.

Where could SFNE theoretically expand to? The park is relatively small. Do they own any undeveloped land?

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that they own land over the border in CT but I do not know how accurate that is. But unless they get crafty and find a way to expand into the marsh around the grove (or demolish the grove), as of right now all they can do is remove old rides and replace them with new ones.

I'd personally love to see them build over the midways. I believe a eurofighter was considered for the DC area before the wild mouse that would've done this, too bad.

I'm going to be making my first visit to the park on Sunday the 25th, and I don't know what order to do the rides in. I would like to get most of the credits there. Do any of the rides/coasters have a single rider line? And should I start with Bizzaro, Goliath, or Batman?
