downunder
It's almost like they cut and paste last years results - but I agree mostly, good to see Ravine Flyer II getting some love, that was an awesome coaster.

ginzo
This is so barftastic. I don't know why they even bother with the expense of mailing out and tabulating ballots if they're just going to post the same results year after year.
coastercrazed49
Schlitterbahn is starting to get tiering to see on that list. I mean ya they have the Master Blaster, but there are a lot more water parks then just Schlitterbahn around. I mean every Water Park category went to them. I would just like to see some other water parks be mentioned.

PKI Jizzman
Boring, boring, boring. They need to get Space Mountain and Indiana Jones up there! Oh, and get out of the country to get Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster a shot! -JZ
CPmaverick
Maverick needs to be higher than 12(at least it moved up from last year from 13). I am so glad this year Mean Streak didn't make the top 50. It doesn't deserve it.

almightyfire
I agree with the Holiday World and actually most of the selections even though I am not a water person cant comment on those. Holiday World is probably the cleanest with Busch Gardens Europe.
Big Mike
As I read through them all, I really cannot complain about any of the picks as I was selected to participate this year and voted with the majority of them. Of course they got some wrong according to Big Mike, but what can you do. It was a great laugh to see El Toro ranked 4th behind Thunderhead and Phoenix LOL. Now thats a joke! The WORST part about reading this poll is when I read the Top 50 steel coasters and I have been on 48 of them already!!! I will get Tatsu in Oct, only leaving one coaster in Edmonton to look forward to. It's all downhill for me now Peace, Big Mike
Airtime&Gravity
Some of those that won do deserve the award as that park(Holiday World for example) really is the best in the category. However, the major ones such as best park, best water park, best coaster etc. are really biased. Now, S:RoS and Voyage truly belong at #1, but the rest of the high rankings are just really messed up. Coasters like Phoenix and El Toro belong where they are(could be higher), but rides like Millennium Force, Beast, TTD, and Magnum are just there because they are in Ohio, at powerhouse parks, and because they iconic coasters for their size/importance. LcHg5265
Boulder Dash should not be as low as number 5 in the wooden coaster category. My $0.
mightypotato
As usual, I'd like to declare shenanigans on the Golden Ticket Awards. Wake me up when they stop kissing all of Ohio and Schlitterban's butts.
larrygator
While the poll is far from perfect, this year Amusement Today did make great strides in reaching out to coaster/amusement park enthusiasts who visit parks around the world. Yes, a lot of the same winners from 2007 won again in 2008. I don't have last year's results but would be curious if the gaps are any closer. Does anyone have this info. This year's ballot included more choices in certain categories but I still found myself writing in quite a few choices. In hopes that if a couple of people write in certain attractions/rides they may be included as a choice in future years. My guess is that including more international travelers did not have an impact on winners in the end because the international experts spread their selections across less popular choices. mcjaco
This is so barftastic. I don't know why they even bother with the expense of mailing out and tabulating ballots if they're just going to post the same results year after year. Hey, let's not forget about the barftastic twits that keep voting for the same stuff every year. They need to get more ballots out to people that have been to more places that CP. yankees15
I am happy to see that El Toro has moved up on the list. It should be higher though. I can never get over Storm Runner being so low. Also just something interesting I noticed, they put Sheikra ahead of Griffon when Griffon had 4 more points.
Bolliger&Mabillard
*Yawns*...Forgive me if i'm unfamiliar with how Amusement Today critiques these parks/rides, but their seems to be a lot of bias to it. What do they look for when they hand out these awards?
Airtime&Gravity
Since I believe ACE is a major group that votes, I'm guessing what park offers them the biggest gravy buffet. lol
WFChris
The schlitterbahn bias kind of bugs me. While I have not been to any of their parks, it seems that EVERYBODY on this site that visits one is unimpressed. Maybe its because they constantly get rewards and its over-hyped. If the world wasnt constantly telling us that Schlitterbahn rules, do you think we would actually enjoy it more? Just...baffling I suppose with the recent surge in water-park popularity nation wide. chris.
Bolliger&Mabillard
^ I see. Thanks for explaining that. I've been to Cedar Point a few times and I just don't see why so many people have a boner for it. Sure they have some cool rides and run at full capacity, but so does Hershey, Busch Parks, Universal and Disney. I found them to be nicer and cleaner too. it seems that EVERYBODY on this site that visits one[schlitterbahn] is unimpressed. I thought Schlitterbahn was pretty cool. I liked the idea of natural running water vs. chlorine loaded. It's better than anything in California. Raging Waters is the Magic Mountain of water parks, and Knott's Soak City is like someone's backyard and the owner happened to leave the hose running.
