Defcon62
Where are they storing the donated big bad wolf train? Great pics though!
thrillerman1
^ Keep in mind that it was 2007 when I snapped those photos, so the Big Bad Wolf train could possibly be stored there by now, but I've honestly no idea.

thrillerman1
Here's some old school Intamin eye candy for your 4th of July Independence Day celebration...and some SFGAm brochures from 2004. Let the fireworks commence!
thrillerman1
Is anyone going to Comic Con this week? If so, here's a little superhero action for you along with a 1978 SFGAdv brochure... Holy rare postcard Batman! I still need credit for the other side that was down when I visited...sigh. I like this logo. Newest? Oh yeah it was 1978, and Aunt Matilda in the middle there is having way too much fun. Sadly I will never have this credit...boo hiss and sigh once more. Enchanting Miniature Village? Oh and something's missing. We see you giant teepee. Open 'til midnight. The awesome logo this time in color!
thrillerman1
Oops...I kinda keep forgetting to update this thread. Ok remember when stand ups were all the rage...or not. Say bye bye to Iron Wolf and hello to Apocalypse at SFA.
thrillerman1
With the recent massive flooding at Knoebels, I thought I'd share a little love from this really awesome park. It's one of my most favorite traditional amusement parks in the world! When I visited in the summer of 2005, I only allowed 4 hours to visit (which was about 4 hours way too short), but I was also visiting Dutch Wonderland and Williams Grove (R.I.P. Cyclone) that same day. It also rained for 2 of those 4 hours, and I was on the big gondola Ferris wheel when the storm struck. Too bad, and I want to get back to this awesome park again someday. Fortunately, I was able to ride most of the major rides before the storm hit. Â So, in tribute to one of the greatest parks EVER, here's an antique Country Bear Jubilee postcard and a park brochure. I'm really not too sure of the date for either one. If someone knows the date, please chime in! Here we go... Does this remind anyone else of Disney? Never got to see this show. How long has it been gone? Mmmmmm...Schwarzkopf hotness. Apparently, you can still ride Jet Star in France. Best set of Flying Scooters in the world. FOOD. Haunted Mansion and The Satellite....love those old Eyerly rides. Bumper cars...for real. Wishing you the VERY BEST Knoebels!
grinch1313
That's an awesome old Knoebels brochure! I love that place! Â The Country Bear Show was removed in 1995 for Lazer Runner, which is a lazer tag game. I remember watching the Country Bear Show when I was a kid. I liked it when I saw it, but I hadn't been in it in years when it was replaced.
CorkscrewFoley
Bit late, but I quite love Shane's pics on page 67 with Margate's Dreamland. I love how they called their Schwarzkopf 'Looping Star' when it's clearly a Silver Arrow.
cal1br3tto
"What you've been looking for in a Family Amusement Park, you've found at Knoebels." (Brochure) I find this simple little statement to not only be true, but more true for Knoebels than for any other park. I walked in and immediately identified it as "my kind of park", and that realization only intensified throughout the day. Â It was nice to read that brochure and not feel nostalgic and sad for once. Knoebels has preserved not only all of their charm, but many of their classic rides as well.
thrillerman1
Thanks for the comments guys! I always love reading what people say about the old (and new) stuff I share on TPR. Â Does anyone else find it completely AMAZING that Knoebels is reopening this weekend?! What a class act.
Nrthwnd
Knoebels has become legendary to me through-out the decades. Â Everything I have read about it, seen photos of it..... a great looking/sounding park. Â Good for them to get back into business so soon! Â One of these years, I hope.... Andrewoplis
Bit late, but I quite love Shane's pics on page 67 with Margate's Dreamland. I love how they called their Schwarzkopf 'Looping Star' when it's clearly a Silver Arrow. Â I don't see how Margate's coaster is not a looping star. A silver arrow is pretty much a Schwarzkopf Doppel Looping, only smaller and with one loop. Margate's coaster does not mach that layout.
thrillerman1
^^ Bill, you really would love Knoebels I think. It's definitely a gem!
thrillerman1
So last year I did an update for "Talk Like a Pirate Day" (which is always September 19th). Why should this year be any different...except I'm running low on pirate themed postcards to share. That said...do vikings count as pirates? If so (or even if not), here's an update from Michigan's Adventure featuring their pirate...err viking ship, and you can relive last year's pirate talk day featuring the awesome Intamin coaster, Piraten, here: Â 2010: Piraten at Djurs Somerland It is a pirate ship ride, ok... but Vikings are cool too! In 2003 pirates and vikings still exist. Arrrrrrrrrrrr. Here's a hearty bunch of landlubbers. Shiver me timbers. Shout outs to the Arrow fanboys. Pirates and vikings love water parks. Some credits. Decent junior woodie. Michigan...land of pirates and vikings!
thrillerman1
It's October, and that means it's time for the return of the postcard SCAREadise! To kick things off, here's a real horror of a ride - Kings Island's Son of Beast. Oh and check out the 1978 Kings Island brochure, too!
SoCalCoasters
I think Son Of Beast is one ghost that no one wants to have return from the grave. Â Joking aside, these are some pretty cool postcards/brochures!
B.A.B
I love that postcard of Son of Beast. I have a Son of Beast postcard like that but it shows it being built. Also I got a Vortex, Face/Off, and a really nice Racers postcard from the Paramount days.
thrillerman1
^^ I think the majority here will agree with you about that ghost. I'm not even sure the Rocky Mountain treatment could revive this monstrosity although it sure did wonders for Texas Giant! Â ^ Is it the postcard with "Under Construction" and two smaller boxed photos within the large photo?
B.A.B
Well there two small photos are on the lower left and the big photo is behind them. It said Son of Beast in the upper right hand corner.
thrillerman1
^ That sounds like the same postcard I have. I'll probably post it here one day...when KI has the bonfire.
