KPWoCkAxX
I'm 14, and I live in England, I am really in need of some money, but to get money you need to earn it. Housework Dose NOT pay me enough, but I go back to school in a week and start my GCSE's so whatis the best option for me?
spaceace12
If England is anything like the USA, most jobs are out fo the question were you get a normal weekly check. IF it is like the USA, your best best is to do odd jobs.
Mike Austin
Apart from a paper round, I'm not even sure there are any proper jobs you can actually get. Instead of worrying about jobs, work to get good GCSEs first, then get good A-Levels, then get a Degree, and employers will be climbing all over you to try and get you employed in their business. coasterdude5
^ LMAO. I don't know if England has Chick-fil-A's, but that's a good place for 14 year olds to work. (or is it 15?)

Homer
Go to a local supermarket and ask if they are hiring baggers. Some grocery stores hire baggers at 14.

MG
Go to a local supermarket and ask if they are hiring baggers. Some grocery stores hire baggers at 14. Sorry but in the UK we dont have baggers. When we go shopping you normally fill the bags yourself. Apart from a paper round there is not much you can do until you are 16 and you have been given your national insurance number which entitles you to work in the UK. I would just concentrate on your GCSEs as said above. Good Luck! I just finished them.

terrancew_hod
... I am really in need of some money... Last time I heard someone say that, my friend ended up sending pictures of him in various vile positions while offering his "escort" services... who was he? My boyfriend. But I don't suggest you do that. If you're parents can't spot you the cash and you're too young to work, you're probably out of luck. Manny In England
I would just concentrate on your GCSEs as said above. Good Luck! I just finished them. I'll agree with that. Your options are really limited at 14, but the more work goes into your GCSE's then A-Levels the more doors you open for yourself later in life. We wouldn't want a repeat of this thread in two or four years time after all.
Disney Dood
Well, I applied for a job at a grocery store and they told me to call them back a few times to see if there's any open positions. I said I'd do any job, because as long as what I'm doing is earning me money, I'll do it. So basically, if you're really only looking for a job because of the money and not for enjoyment, a supermarket or something like it will do. I applied for the store I work at back in 2001 when the owner built the new store. I went to school and didn't persue it anymore. Back in 2005, I finally finished school and needed a second job, so I called the owner every week to find about if there was a opening, after about 3 months, there finally was. I been there ever since.
KPWoCkAxX
I guess you're right about Concentrating on School work. But i've picked Music and Art for my GCSE's and i'm in a band for music but still if my band dosen't make it then as long as i've got good grades in all my other subjects I SHOULD be ok......... Kalepi_Konei
I agree with the focus on your GSCE's or whatever there called. I had a job over the summer of mowing lawns and made about 200 in a week actually. (20 bucks a lawn including weed whacking and had a monthly service (1 time a week) for 55 dollars) so we made quite a bit off that, I have more then 1000 dollars right now, and I'm not spending it on anything (except school I have to buy ALOT of books and whatnot) anyways. Now that I'm back in school I don't have a job, when school comes around it's time to get serious again...jobs for teenagers I think (unless your legal working age) should be over the summer. ChrisCrowder
The others are right, you have to be 16 to be employed formally. There are ways around it, though, for example, you could ask familky members, friends, aunts uncles etc if they can give you an 'unskilled' job. What I mean by this is, if anybody you know owns a business, they might be able to employ you doing something which dosn't require any special skills, for example stacking shelves, sweeping, office dogsbody. Apart from that unfortunatly there isn't much in the way of work for under 16s. A paper round might be a good idea. This site will hopefully give you some help and ideas about certain things which you will have to decide on in the near future. Good luck with your GCSE course in the next two years! http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/14To19/index.htm ---------------- Now playing: Biffy Clyro - Now I'm Everyone via FoxyTunes

Yea but I'm sure that's close to minimum wage or less here in the states after the Canadian gov't takes taxes. Canada has taxes up the butt. ash.1111
Maccas and other fast food places are where a lot of people over here start. It really depends what you want to do. Are you into fashion? Then apply at some stores that sell fashion-related stuff. Are you into cars? Then see if some places are looking for people to wash cars? The world's yours pretty much - although do keep in mind some places do have age limits and 14 is still pretty young. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
