Poker Players

Recommended Posts

well scott, when you come back to the ATL, lets go find a bargame

i started playing poker 6/3/03

at church camp

haha

started out with gravel in the parking lot

then i found out that my dad's thin plastic chips are worth something

then we started playing for $1 for incentive to win and not play halo

then $5

and the most ive paid for a home game is $20

we built our own table in 03 and its still in great condition

i was in a phase back in 04-06 where i just couldnt NOT cash

ive won over $1000 from restaurants in food - 500 from mellow mushroom, my fav

lately (this year) ive been broke

not from poker just that i dont have time to play and gas is killin me

so as a responsible poker player, im not playing unless theres a big game that is worth my time - 3X this year

but im kinda burned out too

i hit a royal flush back in january - got next to nothing out of it

and ever since then, i havent cashed in restauraunt play or home games

for my birthday, i usually put on a poker tourney 20-40 players

pay up front and i feed you and give you chips

i love putting on games, i just dont have a setup at MY house for tourneys

i have 5 felt tabletops, 1000 13g chips, 8 decks of copags and a poker clock on the laptop

for all that, $250 over the past 5 years

im steering away from poker for a while and hopefully ill get back into it

Yeah, tough to argue the annoyance of Hellmuth. I played at UB for awhile, but never really got comfortable at those tables.....even though, overall, the games were "easier" there (not to discredit your success though). If you switch, join us on Stars!

Yea i also feel that players on UB are much more inclined to make dumb moves and it's really easy to get a huge stack in the tournaments with the crazy all-in moves people make. The one thing that I do like about UB over Poker Stars is the pace of play seems to be a lot faster (cards are dealt faster and it just seems smoother overall).

Another thing that also keeps me on UB is the problems with deposting money on American poker sites. I've heard from friends that have deposited money that it is a real pain to get money on Poker Stars. Is this true? Also what are some ways to deposit money on PS? (I've never deposited because I won a freeroll and have lived on that since)

I've never heard anything but bad things about AC. I've never played there personally, but I don't have much desire to either. About the only good thing out of AC is Phil Ivey.

Yea unfortunately I have heard the exact same thing. I'm hoping within the next 3 years it goes through some miraculous change for the better. Another casino I have often wondered about is Foxwoods in upper state New York. Has anyone ever been here?

I don't play online because I really prefer to be in the same room as the other players and see reactions to betting / raising etc. If I ever did when I was 18 though, PKR.com looks like the site with the best tech at the moment. It advertises on the internet quite a lot and caught my attention. I hope you guys do a TPR game and post the results.

I definitely agree that live poker is better since you can see people and how they react to cards and stuff. However, after playing online in tournaments, I find myself playing even better in live games. I guess its because of a combination of more experience and the ability to get different reads. For example, I find myself looking at betting patterns and amounts more closely now in addition to watching for tells and such. So although online poker is different, it definitely is really good practice.

Yeah, the pace of play at PS does seem slighlty slower, but it's never really bothered me that much. Plus, when you're player 5 tables at a time, it actually helps a bit to control it all without making mistakes.

As far as depositing on PS, I can't say for sure. I've never had to. I started with $50 that was transfered from a relative's account, and never looked back. However, I do have one friend in particular that deposits all the time. Mostly so that he can transfer the money to friends' accounts since it seems easier for them. He says he never has a problem depositing, and I believe he was using NetTeller or something. I'll check into it for ya, though.
