which they say is in the name of “safety” to the detriment of the entire experience.

Kinda like them putting extremely tight seat belts on the Cedar Creek Mine Train.    I think those restraints are honestly a tighter fit on me than the ones on Dragster.  I don't get it.  🙄

They've changed ALL of the old-school coaster restraints from when I was a kid.  Blue Streak, Mine Ride, and Gemini were ONE seat for two people and one large belt over two people.  They've made the seats individual which means less room, as well.  If you are tall, it's going to suck!

Anyone going to Coasterstock this weekend??

yup, there will be some folks from the TPR boards there. . including myself (1st time at the park) &  TeacherKim -  some others too I'm aware of. . not sure if they've posted they are going or not, so not my place to say.

there are some Forum members that will be at the park on Sat - whom are not attending CoasterStock - but planning to meet and hang with as well.

It's gonna be a really fun couple of days!

see ya there!

I'll be there on Saturday! Weather is looking iffy for Saturday so get your must rides in on Friday in case Saturday takes a turn for the worse.

Looking like scattered storms 50% all day with potential to be worse but I'll keep an eye on it. KI/Mason can be it's own weather bubble at times but obviously lightning can shut things down for a while.

Have a great time, everyone.  I wouldn't get too worked up about Saturday's weather, honestly some rain in the forecast can actually be a good thing as it rarely rains all day, and it will keep some of the crowds away.  I've gone on two separate days this year with forecasts very similar to what Saturday is looking like, and both times it's ended up being great.

And remember - for the night rides, as long as you're in line before 10 pm, you will get to ride! (even if it's after the fireworks)

Looking to the regulars here for some tips....I plan on visiting this park for the first time on Monday, August 2nd.  Are Monday crowds manageable here?  As I will only have this one day available (I am in town for a convention) I am considering purchasing a fastpass+.  This will also be my first ever visit to a Cedar Fair park.  Naturally I will be hunting coaster credits but I want to see as much as possible what this park has to offer.  I hear lots of good things about it.  I am confident the quality will be a leap up from the Six Flags parks I am used to.

It's a big, and great park, with a ton of things you're going to want to do, preferably more than once.  Fastpass+ is definitely going to be your friend if you're just getting one day to spend here.  If you can afford it, it'll make your day so much more fun.  Without, you're likely going to have to pick and choose what you want to get in in one day, and there isn't really much you want to skip here.

Just got back from a whirlwind 3 days!  Flew Orlando to Louisville, did Kentucky Kingdom for a few hours, then drove north to Kings Island. Spent about 5 hours there on Thursday (pretty dead and rode everything!) then went back for CoasterStock on Friday and Saturday.  Highlights would be the Beast walk back and the book signing.
If you haven't picked it up yet, you should!
Also met a few TPR folk along the way.  Weather was great Thurs/Fri, rain on Saturday.
Looking forward to next year and the 50th anniversary of KI!

I will be going either Wednesday or Thursday,  anyone know when the line closes on Orion when they’re getting ready for the fireworks?  Thanks

They closed it 30 minutes prior and reopened to drain remaining queue 10 minutes after

But no new entry was allowed 30 before fireworks (at 10. They were right at close)

now. This is what we saw last night during Coasterstock. So it’s POSSIBLE that they closed off line to drain it for our ert that started at 10:30.   But I’d guess that standard is they don’t let anyone in the queue for 30 before fireworks (they did not make anyone in the queue leave tho)

I do wanna note that yesterday was kinda an odd day at the park tho. . as things kept going down.   (even Zach noted it was not a good day and something was odd about how many impacted):

Beast was down for most of the day - a good 6 hours
Red Racer went down, then Blue went down, then both came back up but with two trains on blue/ one on red, so not always racing)
Drop Tower was up and down all day
Diamondback got stuck on lift hill for a good 10 or so minutes
Banshee went down in the evening (with maintenance working on the lift hill ~4pm when we were over there in beergarden, but never saw it come back up for rest of night)
Orion was up and down (tho those down times seemed to be only 10 or so minutes each time)
Flying Race Ariel Chase was down all day

Kudos to the maintenance teams for getting everything  (mostly) back up and going tho. . .  it was amazing when Beast reopened ~5pm, and the wait time went from 5 minutes to 55 minutes in literally SECONDS (luckily we had Fast Lane +, so we still only waited ~10 minutes, and they let us wait for front row anyways)

That would be me! It was great to finally meet you two on Saturday. That TPR poncho is definitely on it's last legs. 😉

"Red Racer went down, then Blue went down, then both came back up but with two trains on blue/ one on red, so not always racing)"

To add to the Racer saga, after all that happened, both went down again, then red finally reopened on it's own, running only 1 train.

It's strange such a reliable park had issues when it really mattered. Aside from the drop tower (like all drop towers), Wind Seeker (like all Wind Seekers), and of course Invertigo... I've never seen any of the other coasters or major rides go down.
