p. 792 - Camp Cedar campground to open in 2021!

Thanks to you both! I figure that, especially now in the crazy COVID times that we're in, people would be curious about wait times and operations and stuff like that which I'd normally gloss over.

I'll be sure to try to do the same at Cedar Point starting tomorrow.

My visit this past weekend was great, even with Saturday being very busy and me missing out on FL until Sunday.    I went into Orion not having followed its construction or watched a POV or even

Get over it man.  You've made your point and we get it; it's silly that this park did not do a Winterfest-lite.  Make the 8 hour drive to KD if you want to experience that, just like all of us with KD

I went to Kings Island today. Funny enough, three years ago on this day was my first visit to Kings Island. I've gone a few times now, making it my most visited out of state amusement park. I decided today that it's my favorite Cedar Fair park; there's something special about it with its grand entrance and all the towering coasters surrounding the Eiffel Tower at the center of the park. Plus you can really tell they put a lot of thought and effort to make sure new rides look great, which is extremely evident with new coasters like Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. It's just such a nice looking park and it has some of my favorite coasters in the chain.

I splurged on the Fastlane and I am so glad that I did. I rode all the major coasters in the park by noon. Not only that, I got in twenty rides on Orion. Oh my LORD I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!! I think people are being so hard on it. People want to complain about what the ride doesn't have rather than what it does have. What it does have is amazing. I truly felt like I was flying while riding it. It was so smooth and it was so fast. Plus the themeing was actually pretty fun. I don't know specifically what it was that I loved about the ride, but I just couldn't stop riding it. It's definitely my favorite ride at the park now.

As of 2020, my top five ranking of the coasters at Kings Island is as follows:

1. Orion

2. Mystic Timbers

3. Diamondback

4. The Beast

5. Banshee or The Racer.

Fast Lane is for sale on KI's website/app, but not in the park as of Sunday, both in advance and day of. You just have have to buy it online.

Maybe it's because I hadn't been on Adventure Express in a couple years but I thought it was so much fun with how overgrown that area is now. I would love to try it at night, you really feel secluded and you can't see Banshee as well. Son of Beast's helix and area that stretched beyond Banshee is grown in now as well.

Adventure Express owns and nobody can tell me otherwise.

Aaaand... I need to get a picture next time... looking out the station towards Racer/Orion perfectly frames Orion's hill. Such a good look.

Kings Island has so many great night rides, but not enough time to enjoy them all!

Orion, Mystic Timbers, Beast, Diamondback, Banshee, Bat, and Adventure Express.

Did most of them last year at a Friday night Haunt. One of my favorite park nights ever.

Today was blazing hot at the park. I was there July 4th weekend but today felt miserably hot.

Lots of people. Queue lines had people in them. More people at the park than I expected. Good to see.

Adventure Express is an underrated and hilarious night ride. The best beer man is close, too.

The "best beer man" for you is the Biergarten and not Miami River Brewhouse, which is air conditioned and you can actually get a variety of food at? Talk about disregarding the opinions of those who do not extol the virtues of and glory that is the NA Miata.

Well, if we're talking about NA RWD Japs, then we'd be sinful not to mention the Toyobaru twins, the BRZ and FRS.

The food options at KI might be tempting, if it wasn't for Roosters within a 20 minute drive for pitchers of ice cold Yuengling and some of the best chicken wings I've ever had.

This is my first time posting on this site, but I just had to ask. I know sometimes roller coaster enthusiasts are riding to beat a record. I was riding the beast today and about halfway through the ride I noticed a man in the front row who appeared to be standing up. His entire backside was above the roller coaster seat. I thought to myself that there is no way someone would be able to standup on a roller coaster. Then when we were climbing the second hill, I noticed only his head was showing above the seat, making me assuming that he was in fact standing up. As we began to descend the second hill, I noticed him once again standing with his arms spread out . Before we reached the tunnel I ducked and closed my eyes in fear. After the helix I noticed that he was once again back in his seat. Prior to arriving back into the Stanton I asked the two girls sitting behind me if they saw what I saw. One of them said yes, but she couldn’t tell if he was just tall. When we arrived Back at the station I informed the ride attendant and he commented, “how does someone stand up” and he walked away. I then informed the supervisor and pointed the guy out. She looked at him and said “oh yeah “ and walked away. Then while I was leaving the exit que a woman with her daughter came up to me and asked about my conversation with the supervisor. She mentioned that she thought he was standing but didn’t think that would be possible.

I am confused. Has anyone heard of a man standing on the beast in the front row? Was he doing a stunt, maybe filmed? I had never seen anything like it. From my interaction with the crew it sounded like it was known about,

Seeing the “Chaos Labs” sign made me think that an indoor flat ride would be a super cool addition to Area 72. Like a cheaper replacement for Tomb Raider.

Awesome pics, Mike! I am super excited to visit here for the first time on the 22nd! Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions on a good order for the rides? Should you do Flight of Fear first after getting the Orion pass or head to Diamondback and Mystic Timbers? Is Backlot Stunt Coaster good to do early? It'll be a Wednesday, so I'm hoping for low crowds but am not counting on it.

Honestly, here's how I'd tackle it if you've only got one day, a 10:30 reservation, and aren't buying Fast Lane. Note that this is based on my preference of rides.

-Go straight to Orion at opening and wait for them to hand our access passes. If you are quick enough, you may be able to get in the standby line and ignore the whole access pass situation all together. If you can do this, do it. Otherwise, grab your access pass. The time you receive will determine the rest of the course of action for the day.

-If your pass is for noon-1:00, hop on Flight of Fear. If that somehow takes less than a half-hour, go grab Racer next. Return to Orion and get your ride in there. Then continue with the below.

-If your access pass is for later in the day, go to Beast and then start working the park in a clockwise loop, so Diamondback next, then Mystic Timbers. Skip the kiddie coasters (Flying Ace Aerial Chase and Woodstock Express) if you want or if the lines are long (for FAAC, it's long if you can see the back of it from the midway). Cross International Street into Action Zone, and grab Banshee and Bat (skip Invertigo if it has any kind of line). Adventure Express next, then Racer, then finally back into Area 72 for Flight of Fear. Backlot is skippable for me since I have one in my home park, but you can work that in whenever you're in the area. Whenever your Access Pass time is for Orion, deviate from the above plan and go get that done, and then grab Flight of Fear afterwards and then continue where ever you left off on the plan.

In using an access pass, I found it best to be there 15-20 minutes BEFORE the hour its due so you can line up, or in the last 15 minutes of the hour so most of the other passes will have gone through already. Even with half the seats blocked off, Orion is still a people-eater.

I was there on a Saturday and didn't have any issue with crowds, so being there on a Wednesday you should be fine. Worst case scenario is you have to buy a Fast Lane, which wasn't even available during my trip.

I was at the park on the 15th (also a Wednesday) and was able to get 5 rides on Orion without FL. They will start letting people into the parking lot as early as 10:15, and once you're parked, through the temperature check, and into the park, you can head straight to Orion. They will typically start letting riders on around 10:30 and will start giving out access passes when the park actually opens at 11. I was able to get 3 rides via the standby line before 11, then grabbed an access pass and headed over to Beast and then Banshee, which were both walk-ons.

The park was not very crowded the Wednesday I visited, so they did not run out of access passes until later in the afternoon (around 5 or 5:30 if I recall).
