Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 792 - Camp Cedar campground to open in 2021!

Recommended Posts

You just initiated three more pages of debate between people who will argue about which day the park will open, between the 19th and 26th.

My visit this past weekend was great, even with Saturday being very busy and me missing out on FL until Sunday.    I went into Orion not having followed its construction or watched a POV or even

Get over it man.  You've made your point and we get it; it's silly that this park did not do a Winterfest-lite.  Make the 8 hour drive to KD if you want to experience that, just like all of us with KD

At the risk of veering off topic, people are just incredibly selective in what causes of death they choose to care about. People only care if it's high-profile, tragic accident, something new and scar

Not Negativity just read a few things.

They could of brought them all back. I see them testing to start the laps needed for Inspection.

Seriously, rides can't be inspected if they don't have inspectors.

Also, rides go through hundreds of test cycles pre-season before inspectors are even on site. Inspectors do NOT inspect prior to test cycles. It's also very common for inspectors to be on-site the morning of opening day doing last minute inspections, sometimes not even approving rides to open for the season until after gates have been open to the public. Happens every year.

The inspector thing caught them all off guard because the state laid them off and didn't inform them. Remember that in the aftermath of the Ohio State Fair accident they changed the entire inspection regime, and now they're much more specialized and are employed by the state. Experiences older than a couple of years are irrelevant at this point.

I was informed that they brought back the inspectors about a week or so ago, so I'm hopeful they can dispatch them for inspections shortly if it hasn't already occurred.

They released a video for Worlds of Fun outlining the guidelines, since it was filmed at Kings Island and narrated by Tony Clark I'm sure it'll be the same video for every park.

I didn't see any info when the reservation system will go live. I'm sure it'll be like playing the lottery at first.

Staggered seating and stacking trains for extra cleaning. That video is a great reminder of why it's not worth it to park hop this year, unless this works out better than I expect. At least they're not doing electronic queuing. I know a lot of people are all for it, but it just doesn't sit right with me. I didn't expect anything less, but I'm so tired of this crap.

Kings Island will be open to passholders from July 2-11, and will open to the public on July 12. There will be a reservation system and masks will be required.

More details can be found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/park-update

I also saw something on there about completing a health screening 24 hours prior to visiting the park, but it sounded like it was some kind of online screening, so it seems like someone could easily lie even if they were showing symptoms. I guess it's probably more for covering their a$$es so if there is someone sick who goes to the park, it's on the person for lying on the screening.

Also, I haven't seen this anywhere, but is there some kind of limit to how many reservations you can make in a week? Because I'd like to go several times during the passholder week if I can, but I'm not sure if it's one reservation at a time.

Yes it's an online questionnaire. It's insane people are reacting thinking they need to go get a physical from a doctor before visiting and making a huge scene on social media. People are so dumb

There are a lot of questions that will be answered in the coming weeks. No one knows about how many reservations. We're all super stoked about visiting parks again, we'll know when we hear from the park.

True, I'm probably jumping the gun with asking questions the park hasn't answered yet, I was just hoping that maybe they gave more info somewhere that I might have missed.

Honestly, I'm psyched about the possibility to visit the park with less crowds. I don't really want to be around a lot of people right now either, so while these reservations and stipulations are a PITA, I'm still glad the park is implementing them.

At their slight credit, the way they worded it on the page did leave it a bit too up to interpretation. But of course they didn't mean scheduling a visit to a clinic 24 hours before going to an amusement park! The video made for Worlds of Fun did show it was a questionnaire.

I'm happy the mask will be a requirement. The folks complaining about the rule will hopefully also be the ones opting to stay home, like they probably should. Can't wait to schedule a reservation to ride at the park next month!

This is just a wild guess, but I would think you can only make one reservation at a time. Not click 5 days in a row and reserve 5 days at one time. Just my guess.

Doesn't mean you can't take an afternoon and try to reserve you're whole summer tho. But I do hope that some people try to give people an opportunity to go. KI has a LOT of passholders, and I think if you try to grab a spot every day for the first 10 they're open is a little selfish. But good luck, I do not think getting reservations will be easy to get. I am expecting the site to crash a lot, a lot of people trying to go. and overall a lot of frustrations, especially for the first week or two the reservation system is live.

Getting a reservation that first week or two may really by a Wonka's Golden Ticket considering the demand. Good Luck! I'm gonna try for July 5th. But only cause I happen to be passing through Cincinnati that day, 1 ride on Orion, some Skyline and out!

Rumors are Fast Lane will be honored this year but will not be sold. Got the year or single days purchased during sales already? You're good.

I asked KI today about my Fast Lane Plus I had bought earlier this year and the response I got was...

"We have extended fast lane tickets that expired 9/7/2020 through 11/1/2020.

If circumstances prevent us from utilizing the Fast Lane Program we will add additional refund information on the website."

So that good news for Fast Lane unless something arises.

Well if the park is going to be at reduced capacity , Fast Lane would probably not be needed??

There's gonna be reduced ride capacity for cleaning and social distancing as well, stacking is to be expected. While there might be less people, you also take into account ride dispatch times are gonna take a huge hit as well. Plus, Fast Lane folks wanna get their money's worth if they're not issuing refunds for them.

Now that we know the opening date for KI does anyone know if they are still going to have a Media Day for Orion? Looking forward to some reviews of Orion so if you do go and ride please post your thoughts here.

I'm excited to check it out! I honestly don't have really high expectations, I am just looking forward to going to the park when it's not Winterfest

I've been on many B&M hypers, and Fury. So I'm sure Orion has a great drop, has some high potential with the wave turn and long speed hill. Maybe the big turn around will be a surprise highlight.

All they've said regarding Orion is that it will "open sometime next month," as in not with the park. Given that this was made with the announcements that only reference July, I'm not sure if "next month" means July or August.

If you were talking about a dedicate "Media Day" as in Media-are-the-only-ones-allowed-in-Day, I find that highly doubtful at this point. They're not going to open the park and then close it, and if it was going to happen before the general park opening, I imagine it would have been announced.
