You guys take the boat to a whole new level

I wonder if this means anything. I was looking at some pictures kicentral posted on their Facebook page and their using this in both photos. #10thwonder

Could this mean something?

These teasers are starting to get kinda old. According to the teasing it seems like they may add a new coaster in 2017. But they just got Banshee so I would rather see the coaster in 2018.

This may be a shot in the dark; Long time lurker, first time poster. I haven't been to Kings Island since 2004, and I'm roadtripping it next Friday, the 13th. I will be there from noon to close if anyone would like a coaster buddy to ride with? I'm 31, driving from Atlanta Georgia, and am hitting KI and Cedar Point that weekend. Not looking for that typical nerdy ACER guy with a fanny pack that has no social skills, just looking for a chill dude to ride some rides with for the day!

They wouldn't start teasing for some little ride this early if it wasnt a coaster. I just hope this isnt like Busch Gardens and they get us hyped and it turns out to be a small wooden coaster.............................. A GCI that breaks records sounds good to me.

That logic cracks me up. WOF is teasing 2017 too but the consensus on TPR is that there's NO WAY they're adding a coaster - but with KI --- it HAS TO BE a coaster.

^^That's because they have been teasing it much less than Kings Island has been with their new attraction coming in 2017. Although it might just be because Kings Island seems to have a better PR team than WOF. But to be honest I think Kings Island is getting a GCI, and WOF is getting a B&M. (Similar to 2013's addition of Gatekeeper at CP, and Goldstriker at CGA)

Posted

MAYBE......................just maybe.................... CF is maybe going to start with what SF does, At least two or three parks get new coasters

Oh wait, I dont think that'll happen anytime soon. But maybe two parks are getting new coasters. Does WOF have enough open land for a new coaster?I know a GCI could fit nicely into Rivertown ( I dont think the station would be where the old funnel cake stand was though), But we do know WOF is getting the two "new" flats for next year, maybe they could follow with what Canada's Wonderland and going with a gerstlauer sky roller to go along with the"new" flats

Maybe I should just shut up

Well in WOF's defense, the new PR just started a few months ago. The previous girl who held the position did next to nothing

This is why I think it's hilarious when people lump Six Flags and Cedar Fair in together. Little things like this make a big difference, and I applaud Cedar Fair for doing it.

Ah. I see. I hope WOF's PR will continue to improve. I really do hope WOF does get a new roller coaster next year. It's more than needed.

The Big Wheel at Great Adventure is unimaginably ugly at night. The lights suck so much that they shot a promo picture of Polar Point for Holiday in the Park with the lights on and then shut them off for the event because it ruined the look of the area by being so amazingly ugly. At least half the lights are burned out.

I've been there twice this year and never seen LED lights. Is this really a thing? It needs to be but I don't see any evidence of that happening. That ride's light package is the poster child for ugly light packages.

Maybe they use LED bulbs but not the type of LED strips that most parks are using now, and the majority of the bulbs are non working and look like hell.

Posted

Okay but have you seen Big Wheel at Great Adventure? This is what it looks like.

I'm not worried about LED lights just to "go green". I'm talking about updating lighting packages to make the rides look better which is what most parks are doing. Like this...

I wouldn't say that a parks main objective to switching over to LED lighting is for green reasons, but more for a cost savings reason.

Cedarpoints giant wheel has had issues with the led lights as well. Last year, a large section of the wheel was messed up (picture 1) during a few of our visits.

Still better than what it used to be (picture 2)

It was announced a few months ago that two flat rides a Huss Troika and a Huss Condor were purchased used in Europe and will be installed at WoF. While those might not be the only additions I doubt it will include a coaster as well. Typically you do not install both flat rides and a coaster in the same park in the same year.

I can see a GCI put in that area, Especially since the sign says watch for falling trees. The only coaster made out of trees are wood coasters

Oh yes, WOF has lots of land for expansion.

The construction markers are getting closer to the log ride. I saw one in a tree and on a path that leads to the train tracks today. I really do hope this isn't the last year for the flume. It's a great ride to ride and to work!

When are we gonna learn there are no underwritten rules to parks as far as how capital investments are handled and what they get. Remember, there is someone new at the helms. A lot of the norm has been broken under this new regime and I love it!

I don't believe "patterns" exist in the theme park industry. Theme park managers and corporation don't look at additions like "ok, we are going to add a flat every three years, a coaster every five, and a show ever two years. And we will not install a flat and a coaster in the same year because that would be preposterous!" They add what they want to add, when they want to add it, and however many additions they deem fit. But that's just me.
