Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 832: Camp Snoopy announced for 2024!

Do we have any knowledge as to whether or not this is filled with sand? It doesn't have the little dots before each tie like the Heide Park wing coaster does but it's the only filled one with them if I'm correct.

I can't think of any modern B&Ms I've ridden that are as loud as Mantis/Kumba. Wild Eagle I would say is the loudest, but are there any that are downright deafening? If they name a ride after a mythical being that becomes a bad omen by screaming, it would make sense to not fill it at all. The only thing I could think of that would keep them from doing so would have to be GWL.

It's shaping up! I bet we'll see the monster height difference in this thing by next week!

I'm curious about the lighting packages they might install too. Mr. Ouimett seems to really like them (GateKeeper, both Disko Coasters, the renovated International Street fountains at either KI or KD, I forget where) and I'd love to see what this does to Banshee/Bat/Delirium. Banshee should just have a few dim lights on the hill, loop, and dive loop and maybe some dim LED lights on the wheel covers. Maybe Bat could have some sort of orange lights on it that are hooked up to accelerometers that make them twinkle more violently when the train goes through intense elements? And maybe a matrix thing for Delirium like on Giant Wheel at CP where there's a plane of light inside the ring that spirals and the like? I'd love to see where the Cedar Fair lighting package party goes here.

^Is it filled with sand? It is definitely quieter than most B&Ms but I can still hear something, mainly at the bottom of the first drop unlike Talon or shambhala from which I hear nothing.

^^Leviathan may be loud but don't forget that it goes pretty fast and that probably increases the noise level, I think.

I don't think there is any new B&M that is as loud as the older ones, like Great Bear, Dragon Khan, Mantis,...

Do they get louder with age, maybe?

Wild Eagle certainly is NOT the loudest.

Great Bear is insanely loud.

By contrast, Talon is insanely quiet. I kind of prefer Talon because it's just so graceful.

I think the loudness of the roar mostly has to do with location. Great Bear echoes off the sides of the vally it's mostly situated in. Raptor has a huge lake for its roar to go out across.

The B&M roar is loud but is no where near unbearable (Superman Escape from Krypton). I'm very glad to hear that they are retheming the Flight Deck. Having two rides with Flight as the first word in the name makes it all to easy to mix them up. On top of this allows the ride to have a true retheme instead of just de-theming which is what the Flight Deck felt like which is a shame for such a great coaster. Do we know if they are planning on doing anything to the trains to make them resemble the ones on the original Bat?

I don't think anyone has ever mixed those rides up, and if they did I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that they both have "flight" in the name.

Although the ride experiences are very different, in conversations I have seen people mix the names up. It happens.

How about Bat Bat?

He's a millionaire playboy bat, who fights crime while dressed as a bat!

You may now return to talking about Banshee. Surely there's a new Webcam image someone can capture?
