Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 832: Camp Snoopy announced for 2024!

I really don't think those footers would be for a Rocky Mountain Coaster as they seem too big for a wooden structure.

The KI footers:

Leviathan (B&M):

Intimidator 305 (Intamin):

Skyrush (Intamin):

The RMC footers are slightly smaller, B&M's footers could work as they can be smaller Intamin's in some cases and if so, then this could be a turn as the footers in a station and transfer area are usually rectangular in shape. I-305 uses basically rectangles throughout the majority of the layout, but Skyrush uses a majority of concrete columns, but I think these are smaller. If I were to bet, I'm thinking either a B&M or Premier since it looks like their coasters could both work on these kinds of footers.

Once concrete is poured and the anchoring bolts are added, it might be able to tell us more about what type it could be.

^ "Oh let the speculation commence. . ."

Whatever they are planning, I hope it's good enough for me to say "Yes. I shall renew my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass just as an excuse to go back to Kings Island!"

Personally, I'm hoping for Iron Beast because it'll be the closest I-Beam coaster to where I live ( unless Kings Dominion gets there own I-Beam coaster -perhaps an Iron Hurler or Iron Grizzly), but I would still be satisfied with a record-breaking and ground-breaking coaster that hasn't been seen, heard, or even imagined before.

Looks like B&M to me. If it were a I305 type, the footers would be rectangular

But then again it could be another Intamin type coaster as well like a launcher

That's not the case. That's like saying for the first GCI that used the concrete slab, "Oh, we can rule out GCI, there aren't individual footers being poured." Manufacturers don't necessarily have one single design for their rides - GCI uses individual footers for terrain woodies and concrete slabs for flat land, Intamin used rectangular footer shapes on I305 but used columns for Skyrush over the water, and so on.

I'd say it's definitely not a woodie, if those are actually coaster footers (and not for a station or something that isn't even a roller coaster at all). Even if we didn't have footers being poured already, I'd be shocked if they put another woodie in that spot - enough GP think Apocalypse at SFMM is just a new Psyclone, somehow I don't think this park wants ANYONE mixing up their new hotness with Son of Beast.

I don't remember who said it, but didn't Cedar Fair say they were done with Intamin in a way? If true, than that statement combined with how successful and reliable Leviathan is, this new coaster might just be a B&M Giga...

Cedar Point is definetly done with Intamin after that disaster of a water ride however I'm not too sure about the rest of the parks.

That is a hell of a lot of space they're dealing with there! Can't wait to see how this project progresses! I have a feeling B&M has something to do with this project, but I also don't doubt an Intamin launched coaster could be out of question too. But my bet is on either a B&M Giga or Mega. Crossing Fingers!

I'll be there at 9:30 tomorrow for Diamondback ERT. I'll be sure to try and take a few good shots of the footers which I'm sure are farther along. It's been nice all week so hopefully they have been working hard on our new mystery coaster. I'm hoping for a B&M invert myself. Time will tell.

While a Giga would be really cool, I'd love to see a custom designed inverted coaster. It would really help round out the coaster collection and I've never ridden a B&M inverted coaster that I didn't love.

Weird of them to trademark Banshee, seeing as it worked out so well back in 1996 for them...

Maybe they're looking for an excuse to unload all the leftover Banshee merch they have sitting in a warehouse somewhere .
