Adventuredome Discussion Thread

Thanks for the tip on Hotel Argento, sounds like I should hit that first thing before the line builds up when I'm there in a couple of weeks. The way they're going Loco's track might be contructed enough to get a good idea of the layout by the time I'm there.

^ Which makes me all the more excited for El Loco. I have to be honest I was really against the removal of Rim Runner because I didn't want a cookie cutter ride to replace one that was designed specifically for it's space and leave a huge amount of empty space in the dome. Rim Runner was a great visual element for the park, especially when all the theming was there. This looks like a more than worthy replacement. Have they done anything with the old lift/turnaround yet?

I do wish that Vegas still had a legitimate water ride on the Strip, maybe in the future?

El Loco is looking like a great ride. It's nice to see there'll be at least one above average coaster in Vegas, and even though a standard layout would be good this looks like it could be even better. Perhaps I'll need to stop by the Adventuredome on my ski trip in January (time permitting, as we've got to get from Orange County, CA to Salt Lake City, UT in one day), but if not I'm planning a trip to Vegas this summer to ride it.

Looks like it's coming along great! Gotta love Circus Circus. Whenever I think of Circus Circus, I think of the part in the movie Vegas Vacation where the guy at the buffet switches the colored food items.

^It is a standard 4 person car (2 per row). They have a rendering of the car on their website.

That is a weird thing about Circus Circus. It's the same here in Reno. Their buffet is terrible, but they're steakhouse is one of the better ones!

Actually, Circus's buffet has improved a lot. Granted it's still no where close to Bellagio or Wynn, but for the price the food quality is decent. As for the steak house... Well it's amazing. One of the best meals I've ever had.

All these race reviews about the steakhouse, I definitely have to make sure to try that when I come down to ride El Loco. I know this isn't really a Vegas buffet thread, but real quick since we're on the subject kind of, Aria Doesn't get mentioned for their buffet a lot but they have one of the best. On the expensive side but worth it if you're in that part of the strip.

We always go to the Palace Station buffet. With their casino card it's $8.99 for the dinner buffet and $4.99 for breakfast. Love to hit the omelet bar and they have great desserts. We personally have been disappointed with many of the higher priced buffets and the kids prefer the Palace Station buffet.

That about accurately sums up the circus circus buffet experience. Excellent steak house though.

yep. one of the best steak houses in town.

it's great, and worth every penny.

the buffet? eh. it's edible. Not great, but better than the other close options (Riviera's buffet is disgusting, and Stratosphere's is WAY overpriced for the quality of the food).

LOL. . Buffet thread!

We go to Vegas a LOT, and I'd rank the best in town as: Cosmopolitan (Wicked Spoon) -- it's fantastic, and we always eat there several times during a trip (be sure to catch the Sun. Brunch with the Mimosas!).

if I had to list top5:

1: Cosmopolitan

2: Bellagio

3: Mirage (no, really, it's great).

4: Aria

5: Golden Nugget (on Freemont -- the weekend seafood buffet is fantastic)

in terms of "decent" and "Value for Money":

I'd go for:

1: Rio

2: Flamingo (totally worth it for the view)

3: CircusCircus

and one that USED to be great, but is just awful these days and we'll never go back: MGM Grand. (always crowded, but expensive and crappy quality food).

^^^__yuck LoL. Bone marrow is not something I'm interested in eating. (Yes. It's on the menu at the cosmopolitan buffet). LOL. Let's be honest. We all have different tastes and likes. What is good for some. Might suck for others.

but you're not forced to go to every station.

in addition to the Bone Marrow (that I don't like either), they also have braised pork belly (YUM).

not a standard food on most buffets.

(oh, another one that started great and went downhill -- "M" -- the first few times we ate there, we loved it, and hated it twice in a row since (years later). We haven't been back).
