downunder
Nice spot, sounds like a hyper coaster, smells like a hyper coaster but 3 loops? What's going on there?
Rct3man777
News...General public... Â The three "Loops" match CLOSEST to 3 big helixes. (Not huge spirals like goliath or nitro or behemoth, I mean like low to the ground yada yada yada you get the idea.
coasterguy618
I said this in JZ's thread but I will say it again. Â Steel Phantom 2.0?!?!?!?
downunder
That soundslike a perfectly plausible explanation, and there I was hoping for a revival of the jo-jo roll.
coasterguy618
But seriously, the press better be seeing 3 helices, not loops. Well, only time will tell. Â -Gaven
ginzo
3 helices? I should have known that Kings Island would find a way to screw this up.
PKI Jizzman
KI's new record: Â The park with the most helixes! -Beast: 2 -SoB: 2 -Backlot: 1 -Vortex: 1 -Reptar: 1 -Firehawk: 1 -FoF: At least 1 -2009: 3 Â KI will have 12 helixes in one park.....YAWN. Â And only 4,200'? I wish it could be longer...seems like a 1:45-2 minute coaster. Hopefully there's something with the lift that will make it steep so it can get higher, faster...less track and time on the lift. -JZ
CHILLERLC1
Raging Bull is listed at 5057feet long. The track length has got to be wrong. Goliath La Ronde is listed at 4038' 9" so this has to not have a MCBR.
Yeti762
Note that this says each train holds 32 people. That is exactly the same number of people a train on Behemoth holds (which is 4 less than the standard B&M train) Â My guess is that it will be like Behemoth (and that is certainly NOT a bad thing!!!!) pacoasterrider
Â Could we see mabye a 60 degree climb if not bigger? With all the sucess Fahrenheit has been having with people loving the lift hill, B&M might incorporate something like that. I'm not sure how steep it could be without the OTSR's
PKI Jizzman
Compare to what we first found out...
Reon
If you look at that drawing, notice that the 3 turn arounds look sort of like a teardrop loop turned on it's side. Maybe the origional drawings are still acurate, and thats what the article was talking about.
gk
5000 ft., that's more like it. Can't wait until the official details are released. Â I guess I need to plan a KI trip next year.
Footballteen58
Interesting. Looks like next year it's either Kings Island or Six Flags Over Georgia for me......
Johnny Upsidedown
That article from the ECC's first drop is still floating around. I posted that over 6 months ago.. The layout is probably what it will be. The length will be determaind by the overall height. If the news report is correct and they have gone with something more like 200 feet then that would make sense that its in the 4200 foot range. But if they go with more like the 225 then the length should get closer to 5000 feet.. I would guess that the park will do some kind of an annoucement toward the end of the summer like in late August.. Since the news stations are starting to creat a buzz about it. TheRapidsNerd
If this thing turns out anything like Goliath or Behemoth, it'll awesome to see it from all over the park. Â In a weird way, it has a tinge of Wildfire about it, the way it uses the terrain. Â Agreed on the 3 turnarounds being the "loops" referred to. Â Very cool all around. jamesdillaman
Told you guys it was a hyper... Â As far as the "loops" go, I'd assume you are all on the right track in thinking they are helices. Â JZ scared me in saying that it might be an inverted he had heard from some people at the park, but this release makes it seem like the plans the reporter found are the same plans that I saw. Â Behemoth-style trains are also a good idea.... Â It's so hard keeping my mouth shut, but it seems it won't be much longer before an announcement is made, either officially or not, as steel work will begin in a few short weeks from what I'm hearing from management. Â One thing is sure, this ride will be hard to photograph, even from the Eiffel Tower... Â -James Dillaman
ETapley0687
Thanks for posting the news link. Glad to see them gettin a hyper next year. I might visit for the first time next year.
CoryPa77
As for the length - it does say the coaster would be 4200' long "based on scale drawings..." which could possibly mean this is what the reporters gathered from looking at the overhead layout of the ride and comparing it to the scale. Then again, maybe it really is just 4200' long. If it's going to have a block and 3 trains (which considering this is one of the top 3 most attended seasonal parks in the US I would assume so) then I can't imagine it only being 4200' long. StormFreak
I would not be shocked if the length is only 4200'. Goliath at SFOG is only 280 feet longer than that, and it is one incredible ride! As long as it is similar (no MCBR), I will be more than happy!
pacoasterrider
Could they say it's about 4200ft without considering the track goes up and down, like say from point a to point b not considering the up and down. Â From scale and incorporating bunny hops it looks like it will be more then 4200'
BeemerBoy
4200' is a typo. They clearly forgot the third zero.
coasterguy618
Looking at the layout, 4200 is defiantly wrong, but I wouldn't mind it being that short if it was Goliath at SFOG like!
ttd rox
It will be a neat addition to KI though. The water element look interesting. More cool pics showing signs- http://www.coasterwarriors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=253&p=2391#p2391 I'm glad they're getting this. They need a B&M badly. I'm excited to see what a waits us!
