Europa Park Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Not only the Arthur ride will be sometheing new at 2013.

Europapark also increases its main antrance with an information center.

It is placed on the left side of the main entrance. A few weeks ago there has been the cash point for parties traveling by bus. This cash point has partially been removed and it seems that the new information center will be a big new building.

With the 2 times I've (TPR) toured to Europa, I don't think I have even seen the

actual Park Entrance! We always used the Colossus Hotel entrance, on the other side

of the park.

Still, it is nice to see it's getting some Europa non-coaster love.

Europa Park is in my top 3 of ALL my favorite parks. With the growth and expansion they are doing, it won't be long before they hit 5 million. The winter events seem to draw in large crowds as well!

-here is a good article:

Europa-Park finished its 2013 season with a new record number of visitors at almost five million people. Its winter opening has proven to be a strong visitor magnet. The owner of Europa-Park, Roland Mack, says, "Our extended service has paid off. Winter opening has become a stimulus for growth with close to 500,000 visitors in this year alone. On peak days, we had up to 25,000 visitors, the likes of which we had only ever seen in the summer season. The proportion of first time visitors is higher in winter than in summer." Europa-Park is becoming more and more attractive for older visitors.

I have this same thing with nearly all the park we go to with TPR. I had no clue what most of their front entrances looked like. Of, in the cause of Europa, where the hell it was even located!

Haha! I was just thinking the same thing! I know all the backroads and side entrances, but never saw the front gate. It does look like it will be extremely nice, though!

The opening of the new attraction "Arthur - the ride" will be delayed for some weeks or months. The park released a press announcement that the ride will not be ready for the season opening of the park. They just stated that they are working hard on it and that it will need some time more to get everything ready. Now the opening date is just stated as "spring 2014". So it seems that it will just be delayed some weeks. Here is the original statement in german from the fan-site http://www.epfans.info/?id=4082&lang=&:

offizielle Pressemeldung vom Europa-Park (Do 06.03.2014 12:19)

edit: i saw that some of you stated they have never seen the entrance. I made a photo-TR thread here in the forum were i had some photos of it posted! There are even some night-shots of the entrance area at the end of the report! If you are intrested in it, here it is: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=52195

Why are the wheels so big? It's not going to achieve high speeds, is it? Or is it because of the weight of the trains?

Most likely the weight.

The trains have a lot more than just some seats on them. There are motors for drive, motors for spinning (other movements), most likely a sound system as well and all the other electronics to run the whole thing as well.

It could also be that those wheels are the standard size that Mack uses, less types of wheels to have in storage reduces the overall cost of it all, then you could also use uniform type of wheel assembly on all train models, which reduces the the design cost as well.

Not to mention complicated!

As was once said in documentary about Germany "The Germans just love to built their machines". I guess this is why they decided to built the prototype for their own park. This design was around some time on MACKs website and likely parks wanted to see it working in day-to-day park operations before ordering it...

They also mentioned in their news that they have made the first test-rides with people on it (the Macks tested it by themselves)!

Here is the complete german news from Facebook (source: https://www.facebook.com/europapark ):

+++ ARTHUR NEWS +++

First Chiapas, now this. Is there anything else big happening in Germany that would make my decision to go back so soon any easier?

Oh, who am I kidding. Europa alone is worth the trip back.
